A while back, when I took some time off from the board (though many probably didn't notice - it was relatively quiet ), I decided to go on YouTube and watch some of the more comical superheroes from yesteryear. One of them was "Mr. Terrific" which I had been searching for because D ick Gautier was one of the stars of the show (not the hero, but close). Well, it sent me to a link for another "superhero" - Captain Nice. His "suit" made me laugh and go "And we thought the red suit was bad." Worse, the suit is made by his mother I believe. Anyway, here is the link to part of the show - which BTW the lead is William Daniels, aka "voice of KITT" in "Knight Rider" and the principal in "Boy Meets World:

Oh...my...WOW....lol. Just...lol. I actually like that actor but I had no idea he'd done this. He does have a good sense of humor though. And that whole "it's some nut in his underwear" reminds me a lot of GAH actually, lol.
But yeah...I think if THIS had been the suit on GAH...yeah Ralph would have just let it disintegrate in two weeks, lol.

I personally have always like him as an actor - he also was one of the leads in the movie version of the musical "1776." He has a very good speaking voice.
And yes, I MUCH preferred his voice as KITT over Val Kilmer's voice. There was just something a tad too dark about that KITT - he almost was KARR in my opinion with the tone.
I guess what I like most about his humor is it's deadpan and he keeps it real. It's similar to Abe Vigoda (Fish in "Barney Miller" and "Fish"). He has made a living doing the deadpan expressions then saying something simply - not trying to be funny but being hilarious. Even now in his 90s he's still making some money with this, though in his case he's doing the humor because many people think he's passed away (which given that there have been at least two occasions there were reports of his death publicized), but he hasn't.

I think both suits are fine. The other one is over the top while Ralph's is what you picture in a superhero. I think the outfit that the TICK wore would be worse.

Yes, ALL the outfits in "The Tick" were bad; but they WERE superheroes. Ralph and Captain Nice were normal human beings who wore ridiculous getups that either had the powers in them (Ralph) or they had to drink a potion (Captain Nice).

I mean usually they include speedos and much tighter spandex. Ralph's suit reminded me more of a conservative bathing suit from the turn of the century, lol.

That costume is pretty funny! I had never even heard of that show before! TGAH stands the test of time, and is now a classic. That other show, erm, was not so fortunate. (It must not have been very good, or else it would be better known today)

Good call, herald.
The suit was not anywhere near as revealing or form-fitting as Superman, etc. I wonder if that was part of the subtle humor to try and distance Ralph from other superhero outfits.

Ralph's suit was intended to look ridiculous and embarassing, not at all like a typical "heroic" superhero costume-----Stephen J. Cannell emphasizes this in the special features section of my TGAH DVDs.

He does in mine as well, but it really stands out once you do a side-by-side comparison.

Yeah I mean at least with most of the standard super heroes, even with the silly suits, you could still say "Wow, look at those muscles!" Lol. But with Ralph's suit, its first priority is not to make Ralph look good, hehe.

Even Schwarzenegger in his prime would've looked ridiculous in Ralph's suit! ;D

Only two times you could see Ralph with muscles was mid-late third season and then when "GAHeroine" was filmed... ... though with that HORRID outfit they made for him in "GAHeroine" (Shiny side out), he looked even worse. I mean... were they THAT mad at Katt that he chose (given what we got storywise IMHO wisely) "Perry Mason" over continuing as Ralph that they had to add even more insult to injury? I mean, they were already making him a JJ Beck light by giving him an ego and that lost him the suit, but put him in a horrid SHINY suit?
