Here's latest as published in The Hollywood Reporter on 1/27/09.
Calling all A-Team Fans, Fox Studios has announced that the '80s TV megahit looks like it's on track for the big-screen as a feature film.
Joe Carnahan is in negotiations to direct with Ridley & Tony Scott producing. Stephen J. Cannell, who co-created the show, is also producing.
Fox Studios has set a June, 2010, release date for the feature written by Skip Woods.

I saw that. It's a shame they are so intent to make a move and ruin the basic idea of the show. It's even worse that SJC is playing along.

Hopefully they'll come to their senses some and turn it back to the tongue-in-cheek humor and wit instead of a more serious version of the show. They did the same with "The Wild, Wild West" and it did rather poorly in the theaters. Yes, it did reach No. 3 in the box office its first week, but even there it was a drastic drop from Will Smith's previous two Fourth of July weekend openings prior to "WWW" - Or, "Men in Black" and "Independence Day." If they drastically change "The A-Team," I probably will not bother going to see the movie. I much rather see the handsome and sly Face, the wisecracking Hannibal, the tough as nails but heart of gold BA, and the crazy (like a fox IMHO) Murdock, that are loved and spoofed all the time than something more serious.

They probably won't. I saw an interview with Dirk Benedict a while back and he made it sound like the new version will go through, even though it seems to be a complete turnaround from the series. Sad.

What are they doing differently?
I hope they don't do a retro-mock version of it, like Starsky and Hutch and the Brady Bunch movies were. Then again, if they make it all really up-to-date, it will be all special effects but no soul.
Ah, who am I kidding. I hate most remakes.

They are going to make it really serious apparently. People can get injured and die, lots of swearing, etc. I read somewhere that the remaining three don't want anything to do with it...or at least the way it was written a couple of years ago. I think they should hire me to write it.

Sometimes I don't understand how the writers who do get hired have their jobs...

I know what you mean. Too bad it is not merit-based either.

For me, replacing Mr. T is like Shatner not playing Kirk.

I am not sure on that analogy as I am not a Trek fan, but I am not sure how they could replace any of them. Even though he never started in the role, Dirk Benedict is the only pilot character change that I like.
