I have seen the info and it appears legit too. Jessica Biel is set to play the army general that chases the team. I'm not looking forward to this...

Jessica Biel is set to play the army general that chases the team. Really? All the reports on several of the legit sites I found is that she's an ex girlfriend of Face. That would just be plain silly to have her as a general.

An ex-girlfriend would make more sense. Over on the A-TEAM forum, there are a lot of posts about the upcoming movie and some of them have been noting her as the general. Of course, there have been others saying she is just in it. It makes me wonder if she is not in the military chasing the A-TEAM because she's an ex-girlfriend or something. I am not looking forward to this.

Nor am I...
Anyway, just because it's filmed, doesn't mean we have to recognize it as canon in any way... You can ignore it, and maybe hope that a few people get curious and go back and watch the original show for the first time.

I hope that more people do go watch the old show. I'm sure I will see the movie. I won't count it as canon, but I just hate that they are ruining the concept of the old show.

Liam Neeson would be Hannibal if I recall correctly. That character was originally played by George Peppard.

It's the same thing with GAH - there is a lot of retro kitsch that just can't be reproduced! Sure, you could do a whole different type of film, and not worry about getting the feel right. That is possible.
I am thinking of the movie adaptation of Mission: Impossible. Completely different feel, but the movie was pretty good. But in both the old series and the new movie, action and plot was important.
In the A-Team, there was a lot of humor that is period specific. And that can't be replicated. Plus, it was just as much a comedy for many people as it was action/adventure, so it's hard to pinpoint it.
I think that's partly a problem with Cannell's work. In one way, it was great, but because it is often genre-busting, it's hard to replicate or make newer versions.[/size]

I agree, Josie. It can have some of the same elements, but not all of them. Sadly, that is why old fans don't like most remakes. The magic of the series is gone.

I have no idea how that would work, or even make sense. I hope its not true and is the kind of misinformation thats usually printed on Moviefone. Her as a general would just suck.

Looking at that photo - is it just me or does Liam Neeson look almost exactly like George Peppard in the bit? Little odd to me.

I think Neeson is the only one that looks slightly credible in reference to the original cast.
I have heard that Dwight Schultz will have a cameo in the movie.

I think Neeson is the only one that looks slightly credible in reference to the original cast. I have heard that Dwight Schultz will have a cameo in the movie. You're right - the only other one with possible credibility is Murdock - however, he's so far back that I can't tell. As far as Face and BA? - yeah... they're off by quite a bit IMHO. And WHY a UFC fighter? Couldn't they have found many men that'd fit BA's description who can act? They are taking a *huge* risk with that. It's also a little interesting if Schultz would be the only one making a cameo appearance in the film. While I know Peppard can't unless they use film from the old days, Mr. T and Dirk Benedict could but aren't mentioned anywhere as being interested.

Even Murdock doesn't look that good compared to the original.
