35 years ago TGAH premiered on the ABC television network to spectacular ratings. Even with the roadblocks the series had (network issues, legal battles, etc) the show chugged along for three seasons. While the series hasn't obtained Star Trek cult like status, isn't hasn't faded into the obscure such as Max Headroom. The fans still keep the show alive. With the day off the celebration has already started here at TGAH.com HQ, huge marathon with the Japanese blu-ray set, with Hero themed eats and treats. Wish everyone was here to celebrate with me.

That's terrific Greenguy! My mom baked me a GAH themed cake every year for my birthday when I was a kid. That cake looks outstanding!

That's awesome. Nice-looking cake.
Like you said, the fans keep the show alive. I'm not too sure how many of us there are out there, but it's great to know that some of us still care about it. It was a great series, and the main reason for this was the characters so well brought to life by Robert Culp, William Katt, and Connie Sellecca. The chemistry between this triumvirate was excellent. And the supporting characters: Tony, Rhonda, Kyler, Carlysle, etc. were great too.
But the show is a well-kept secret. The younger generations don't know it. If only a feature film were to be made based on TGAH (just like they've done with the likes of Dukes of Hazzard, 21 Jump Street, Charlie's Angels, etc.), it would bring our show's popularity to a whole new level.
Maybe that will happen some day. In the meantime, we keep the flame alive. Long live TGAH! Here's to the next 35 years!

I updated the main site in March to reflect the 36th anniversary, but didn't have the time that day to come to the forum and post something for it.
You are correct, the chemistry was just right and I can't imagine that would ever be repeated in any new version made.
Funny you mention the younger generation. My wife is a English professor, and recently we were out shopping (she was wearing her TGAH insignia T Shirt) and ran into one of her former students. The guy looked to be in his mid to late 20's, and said he almost didn't recognize her with her hair pulled back and in a BIG BANG THEORY t-shirt...LOL!!! She started to explain that it wasn't a BBT shirt, but I stopped her before the guys eyes glazed over not understanding what she would have been talking about.

Hahaha, yeah, that's typical of the younger generations. They only know TGAH through shows like Big Bang Theory, because they've seen the logo on one of Sheldon's t-shirts. But it's never really explained on BBT what TGAH actually is.
I've actually seen some funny skits on Robot Chicken about TGAH. Robert Culp (who was still living at the time) even did the voice of Maxwell.

Robert Culp (who was still living at the time) even did the voice of Maxwell. I think there's just been the one with the lovable nerd who got the suit by mistake, knocks himself out trying to fly and Bill uses him basically as a shield and sled (which FYI I was surprised they didn't think of doing in the actual show for "It's All Downhill From Here). Wasn't a huge fan of the ending, and admittedly not too much keen on the fact they had Bill almost a parody of the egoistical Ralph in "GAHeroine." (I mean really - did they forget that Bill, Ralph and Pam were trying to NOT be found out as far as the suit - so why did they have Bill and the unconscious nerd get medals from the president?) If I recall correctly it may also have been one of the last few things Culp did before he passed. It's a shame really - there is plenty of fodder for them to use "GAH" for even now (they still make the series). I mean - come on, even the '80s cartoon "MASK" has three parodies, two if you don't include the really funny toy parody. (I say this because there's at least one or two cases where they have the same character in two different uniforms in the same shot, and wrong character and vehicle.) I'm surprised Sheldon hasn't mentioned "GAH" on the show either. (Of note - yes, I still view this site often, but just don't post much. Been busy lately, and am watching other series I grew up watching, such as the aforementioned cartoon and "Thunderbirds").

Great to know you're still around, Mel Mac. Cheers! Yep, just extraordinarily busy. In fact, it just dawned on me it's been I think now nearly five years since I met William Katt at a "Sparks"* movie showing in Katy, Texas. (Also got to meet Clint Howard, who IMHO is the better actor of the two Howard brothers, and Ashley Bell, a very talented actress herself). I just wish I hadn't been dealing with exhaustion that day because I think I would've talked more and not been nearly as shy (one's sadly a trigger for the other). (*Sparks was an independent he was in and played a bad guy Matanza. Howard played a reporter, and Bell was Lady Heavenly, one of the two "supers" in said movie - the other the titular character Sparks).
