The instruction book - what finally became of it? Probably disintegrated since it was separated from the case since it didn't know Ralph started to use the suit. My friends and I back in the day had an idea for a story that some agency finds the book after checking around the desert about reported UFO sightings there. Of course they cant read it or do anything with it but Bill finds out and he and Ralph try to get it back. Just as they are about to get it - it disintegrates because its been two weeks and didn't know the suit was in use.
And on the book - in Heroine they tell Ralph they have no more books to give out. Did they run out of ink for their printer or something? Or maybe they got it from someone else and didn't create it and only had the two copies. Pam can't be a very good attorney since she clearly lost the custody case for Kevin since he disappeared after S1. Would have been funny it they had an episode with Kevin's face on a milk carton - "Have you seen this kid?"
In Don't Mess Around with Jim - it kind of looked like those gangsters guys knew Bill was going to be there. And I wonder did someone have the suit after JJ and before Ralph?
And speaking of Heroine - I wonder what the reaction of Tony and Rhonda and the other kids were to finding out Ralph was this big super hero all along, and Kevin, if he ever turned up.
And how did Carlisle go from basically being fitted for rubber walls for seeing a flying man in S1 to becoming the head of the department in S2. Unless Norm was the one who went to the funny house and his identical twin brother Les was the one put in charge.
I am only up to the first few episodes in S2 so still a lot to enjoy. Love this show. I mean, I grew up on this guy!

Just watched Classical Gas - good God is that ruined because of the music licenses. That first audition in club is literally 20 seconds long with 'Rhonda' signing like one line. And the actual concert - sheesh. It would have been more merciful just to cut out the kids part in the whole thing. Most of the shows work with changed music, especially if you didn't know. But even Stevie Wonder could see this was butchered.
The only other one that is really ruined is Spoilsport, and only because the song the replaced it with is awful and doesn't even fit what is going on.
But it has a great basic plot and some funny bits - When they hear the <thump> in Pam's attic and Charlie says "Sounds like something crashed into the house." The way Pam suddenly stops and realizes it has to be Ralph is just priceless. Bill smelling the Dim Sum always makes me laugh. And when Ralph and Bill are leaving the motel and the couple driving up sees them and the girl says "Let's get out of here!" They are going into a place called the "Playland Motel" - what did they think goes on in there. Especially since that was there THEY were going. And the kids changing the name of the band every 3 minutes is funny too.
Forgot to mention another 'great' flying sequence - Ralph crashes through the Fed Building roof from season 1, clearly runs toward the office door right in front of him, then suddenly he is leaping out a window from another episode. I know they tried to save money on flying but jeez.. Very sloppy.

I had to laugh at Kevin on a milk carton... You make some good points. It would have been neat to see another agency researching aliens somehow stumble across our heroes. The same with seeing the reaction of the school kids to Ralph's heroism...at least before everyone conveniently forgot. I have always wondered the same about JJ Beck and Ralph. What happened in between? Did the aliens lay low thinking Superman was real?

More stuff:
What's with the funky font in the credits for 'The Lost Diablo'? In "Plague" I love how at the motel Bill goes into Room 127 and then across the parking lot, Pam and Ralph open the door to Room 127. Didn't know they shared a room. Also in "Plague" - I know why they did it but the shots of the guy in the suit with the obvious parachute under the cape and the rip cords ties to his legs just looks ridiculous. I see they totally reused the submarine footage from 'Roseda Rose' in another episode. What ever happened to Lefty? Did he go to the cornfield to meet Kevin?
And again with the mismatched flying stock footage. "Now You See It" - he's wearing the fins, he's not wearing the fins, he's wearing the fins. And why is it even when Ralph has to catch someone like a block away he flys for 5 minutes and like 500 feet in the air? Though I have to admit they got better with the flying. Many episodes they actually have him with footage from the episode they are in and not one from the first season.

Macke said the suit would disintegrate, but never said the box and book would. I was always curious if that was purposely done, so a story could be written about the lost book if they wanted to. Yes, it was a lame way to get out of Holly having a copy of the book in Heroine. Never had that feeling in Don't Mess Around With Jim. Even if Heroine had went to a series, we would have never known what they would have thought as everyone's memory of Ralph was erased after Holly was given the suit. With Carlisle my guess is it was decided that Maxwell needed some sort of foil and William Bogart was thought to be a good choice, and we were supposed to forget the fact he was Les at first. I intended on asking Bogart how he became a semi-regular, but he didn't return my phone call. Keep up the musings!

Yep...it was a hatchet job on Classical Gas. At least the episode has all the funny bits you mentioned intact. Still if one knows what's missing, it's painful to watch. LOL..sloppy = artistic license.

Many episodes they actually have him with footage from the episode they are in and not one from the first season. The handy dandy episode guide ( www.the-greatest-american-hero.com/episodeguide.html ) answers The Lost Diablo question: This is the only episode that during the original broadcast had its guest credits and end credits done in different style of letters. The "GAH" font is not used, probably because this episode had the film transferred to video for editing. More than likely there was no "Hero" font to use a key effect with video, and instead of spending the money to create one, they chose to use a different font to key in.
If you noticed the font on The Lost Diablo, I'm surprised you didn't notice the episode title/guest credits/end credits of Plague. On the DVDs and in current syndication it's different, it's not the Hero font. My guess is that when the episodes were remastered in the late 90's Plague was in bad shape, and the episode had to be rebuilt from the ground up so to speak with the original negative. Again, to keep costs down they used whatever font that was available that was closest to the original GAH font. Many of the things you pointed out are featured in the episode guide. It's fun watching for those things huh?

Watched 'Train of Thought'. Still one of my top 5 - but why is Ralph such a prick after losing his memory?
He was never that mad at Bill in the diner, even tried to apologize and buy Bill a coffee or something. And he seemed a lot angrier all the tine, not the nice guy he was even before meeting the ship or Bill.
A lot of people seem to not like "The Hand Painted Thai" - I like it.
The circus one is fun - first time the kids see Ralph in the suit. I know it was exposed a little in the Diablo one with Ralph saying it was thermal undies, not sure if the kids saw it though. Though Ralph suddenly can have knowledge about a persons life and family from the vibes. Not saying it doesn't make sense, as it makes perfect sense that it could work that way. Just was never shown before.

Everyone keeps telling him things that he should know, including this ridiculous suit, and it has to be worrisome that he's pulled a Rip Van Winkle.

A defense mechanism. Too bad he didn't keep that confidence with the suit after he got his memory back. "Will you LOOK at him!"

Watched now the voodoo one and the one with the sea monster.
Interesting continuity here - the voodoo one at the end they are all staying in the Virgin Islands except for Bill. And sure enough, in the next one with the sea monster - they are still in the Virgin Islands and Bill is back home in LA.
Not sure if it was planed out that way or just an accident.
My only grips is why did Bill have to pick up the suit? Assuming this directly continued from the previous one, why would Ralph not keep the suit with him? And even if he gave it to Bill to bring back, why wouldn't Bill keep it with him until Ralph came back?
Also a fun fact is that the voodoo one takes place in St Pierre in the VA. But that yellow government building in the exterior shots is actually in St Croix. I know because a few months ago I was there and the hotel I stayed at was right across a small lake from that very same building.
When I saw it when I was there I was sure I saw it before. Now I know where. LOL
Also good job with the casting. I forgot a lot of the details and actually thought I remembered that that cop with the mustache was the voodoo guy with the mustache pretending not to know what was going on. Which might have been the intent.
