Shortly after ABC murdered TGAH in the Friday night (later Thursday night) death slot, the series rose like a phoenix from the ashes of network TV and appeared in syndication (minus the pilot) from LBS Communications. With so few episodes to run, stations originally programmed the show in a once a week slot on Saturday or Sunday. I watched the show on local independent station WEVV & on cable giant WGN. In the fall of 1988, the series was still in syndication but now offered by Lorimar. By that time it had ceased airing on the 2 stations I watched it on and I didn’t see it again until it started on the FX Network when they debuted in 1994.
If you watched the series in syndication during the 80s, what station did you watch it on?

I didn't watch it in the 80s, but I got introduced to it on FX. They were a great station back in the day. I wish they could have kept that format.

I loved FX when the channel first hit the air. I was able to watch many of my old favorites, and even one or two series I had never seen before. I loved some of their original programming also, Breakfast Time, and especially Backchat hosted by Jeff Probst. I was surprised that the network ran TGAH 5 days a week, considering there are so few episodes. I think right before it left the schedule they had moved it to weekends. It was nice to see it broadcasting on a national level again across the country, which had not been done since WGN ran it a few years before. I believe by the mid-80s WGN was on most cable systems in the U.S. Anyone else? Surely there must be some old timers here like me that watched it on a local channel

Anyone else? Surely there must be some old timers here like me that watched it on a local channel I was introduced to the show on my local FOX station back in 1986. I was 5 years old. I saw it on FX my freshman year of high school (1995) and screamed so loud my mom thought I'd hurt myself 🤣

I wish they had kept that format. I would have cable just to watch it.

I think the show had made it's money back for Cannell at that point or close to it. In an interview with him on a PBS show from 85 or 86, he had a brief comment on how well it was doing in reruns. Shockingly my small town cable system had FX on day one, I screamed also but I was 29...LOL!! I love reading peoples memories about when they watched the show. Thanks for sharing MissDavidson.

FOX always wanted a morning show, and when they stole Breakfast Time from FX and turned into FOX After Breakfast (I think that was the title) they ruined almost everything that was great about the show with all their changes. I should have recorded those too.

How can I find the episodes for the show as they aired like they did during the first run with original music. I know the dvds from japan can do this but is there another medium? Any way to obtain the original run and teasers?

How can I find the episodes for the show as they aired like they did during the first run with original music. I know the dvds from japan can do this but is there another medium? Any way to obtain the original run and teasers? For original music & sound FX, teasers, and end of episode preview: Original ABC Broadcasts For original music & sound FX, 2nd and 3rd season teasers: FX Broadcasts (not uncut, edited for syndication) For original music & sound FX: original 80s syndication (not uncut, edited for syndication) For original music & new sound FX: SHOWCASE ACTION Canadian broadcasts. (not uncut, edited for syndication) For uncut, new sound FX, and original music KDOC broadcasts For uncut, altered music*, and new sound FX: RTN broadcasts *Operation: Spoilsport is the only RTN broadcast episode to keep original music. We will never see the 1st season teasers again, they were handled by ABC with the voice over by Ernie Anderson and not attached to the Cannell prints. The 2nd and 3rd season teasers were produced in house at Cannell Productions, and at one time attached to the masters. I have no idea why they are not currently intact on the multiple DVD releases of the show. The loaded question is: Any way to obtain the original run and teasers? The original run episodes in anyone's collection are so old now that you would be sacrificing a lot of quality to have the teasers and music. Which is one reason I've been recreating the teasers to attach to the appropriate episodes. Take a peek: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QufjYoG_K0w
