It occured to me the other day that Don Cervantes could actually be dead. I'd feel kinda bad if all these years we've been having our fun and laughing at a dead guy. But even if he is dead, I suppose his legacy on GAH will live on forever.
Does Michael Pare or Jesse D. Goins at least know if Cervantes is alive and well somewhere? I wish there was a way to contact Pare, Goins or Faye Grant on the subject of Don Cervantes.

When I tried to find him a few years back, I contacted a couple different unions/guilds, whatever the organizations would be (SAG, I'm almost certain) for his current contact info. They wouldn't give it. All they would give me would be his agent's info, but he didn't have one. At that point, I asked the person I was speaking to if there was any way to tell if he was even alive. She confirmed that he was -- his dues were current, and as she said, "People come and go as performers, but someone always calls us when they die."
Which makes sense. I assume like any other union, there are benefits to keeping your dues paid, including possibly pension, health, or at least death benefits.
Anyway, I realize that's not the same as seeing the guy, but it was good enough for me that he was alive at least 3 years ago.
But you're right: I would feel awful if the guy was dead or sick or on the streets and here we are having a laugh. However, as crazy as I can sometimes be about the guy (exhibit A: that press release over in the DVD section) I think it's pretty clear that the fun we've poked has been exceedingly good-natured. If anything, it's been myth-building.
I do wish we had SOME word on him. Anything. Silly Connie Sellecca: why didn't she pump Pare for more info?
Don, if you're out there: we love ya man. Right down to the soles of your shoes.
DON, COME BACK!!!!!
