Y'know, I suspect that we may just get lucky where "Eve of Destruction" is concerned. I was watching the special features on Season One, which shows clips from all the seasons, and under Connie Sellecca's interview they show a brief clip from "Operation: Spoilsport". Listen carefully and you can hear "Eve of Destruction".
The are other clips in the interviews from "Classical Gas" and "The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea" and The Pilot, that have either no sound track, or the altered sound track of the DVD release. So this difference caught my attention.

I noticed that too. Let's hope it takes us in the right direction.

Wow, that song is one of my fondest memories of the show.
I don't recall much about the episode anymore, since I haven't seen it in 23 years, but I remember how much I loved the episode and how much I loved the song.
I found a CD pressing of the full length album a few years ago, I couldn't beleive it, I never figured they'd press an old Barry McGuire album.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's included with the DVD's too, I can't see how it could cost that much to buy the rights.

You know, that song is so integral to the plot, it would be a crime if they didnt at least buy that one. They must have saved a ton of money already by not getting rights to the other songs.

I would be extremely curious to know just what kind of money we're talking about here. I wish we knew someone in the industry that could just give us a ballpark figure on how much it would cost for one of these songs and how much overall that would have driven up the price of the set.

Thats why I asked in another post if they even tried to secure the rights, or just didn't even bother.
Its happening to a LOT of old TV shows now. Even Married w Children dosent have their theme song naymore, its been replaced starting with season 3, yet its still used in syndication.
Does anyone know what the rights for songs are? I always thought if they were payed for to be used in the show, they were in the show forever. Not needed to be re-licensed for home video.
