Yesterday, I only fast fowarded to favorite scenes. Today, while surfing the web, I just watched the pilot straight through on my computer. Again, I can not highly enough sing the praises of the picture quality; the sharpness, the clarity, the color!
Thanks to the Closed Captions, for the very first time, I now know what Bill says to the waitress in the diner just before he first meets Ralph and the kids.
I'm watching "The Hit Car", uncut, for the first time in almost 24 years right now (no VCR back then, remember?). Although I remember most of the scenes that were cut for syndication, I had no memory of Ralph and Bill's brief conversation about Pam while driving to San Francisco.
From a purist's point of view, would I prefer to have the cover tunes intact? Sure; but I think that little controversy may be getting a little blown out of proprtion. The replacement songs are well chosen and well integrated and don't distract me. I can't say the same for the pilot episode of "The A-Team".

Oh yeah the picture is awesome. For the first time I can clearly see the line that pulls Katt's double across the rooftop as he tackles 2 tv antennas in My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys.
Also in The Hit Car that I cannot hear in the original broadcast, 80's sydie run, or the FX episodes is a line from Culp. It happens right after The Hit Car fires into the school, everyone panics:
Maxwell: Come on partner!
(beat)
Maxwell: Pam, call the cops!
Ralph: What have you done to me Bill!
I've never been able to hear the line, "Come on partner!"
I just love the quality of this set.

I still can't believe the overall pic quality of the Train of Thought episode. I mean, they ALL look GOOD, but something about that one looks better than the rest (to me, on my set). I wonder why. Perhaps I am on drugs...

I've also noticed the sharp and clear cinematography in the 'Train of Thought' episode. Especially the outdoor scenes with the trains being highjacked. There is one particular shot involving the train where the sunlight reflects off the camera lens. Real nice touch.
