I tell you, having these DVDs is making it feel like 1981 all over again.
It's almost like I'm back living in my parents' house, surrounded by all my old comic books and video tapes...
...wait a second...
...never mind.

For the longest time, 1981 was one of my favorite years. Especially in the 80s. Just because that's when GAH preimered and I know that more then 1982 or 1983 was the true "GAH year".

Dead serious: me too.
1981 had: first season GAH on TV John Byrne beginning his run as writer/artist on "Fantastic Four" in the comic books "Superman II" in the movie theaters and The Who's "You Better, You Bet" on the radio every single day.
I couldn't have asked for a more perfect year to be a Seventh-Grader.

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect year to be a Seventh-Grader. Don't forget Raiders of the Lost Ark. The after-glow of The Empire Strikes Back from the previous year of 1980 was still around in '81 as well. The Muppets had a couple of good movies as well as a TV show back around then. I loved a lot of the sitcoms from that year too. You gotta admit that The Fall Guy was not that bad of a show, I liked it enough. And ofcourse we had half of the 2nd season of GAH. MTV also came out in 1981, which made that year all the more 80s then just an extension of the late 70s. You could also wear a Members Only jacket and be kinda cool not get laughed at, like you would if you wore that same jacket in the late 80s. It was just a great year. To me it was all about "the magic". GAH had a TON of magic for me, just like the original Star Wars movies did. And so did the rest of 1981. -scenario-

Ah, yes... THE FALL GUY. I remember that show. Isn't that the one that ABC LEFT ALONE IN IT'S NICE WEDNESDAY 8pm (CST) FOR ALL THAT TIME!?
Grrrrr... yes. Yes it certainly is. In fact, it got to stay in its comfy original home for 3 FULL years. Then in year four, it was moved up an hour to 7pm CST. Then, when I assume ABC wanted it dead, it was moved to Thursday at 7pm CST, up against (get this) Magnum P.I. AND The Cosby Show. Um, needless to say, that was its last year. And there are 113 Fall Guy episodes. (sigh)

I was born that year. Although I kinda wish I coulda been about 20-25 years old that year, in California, and actually working on the set of the show. But I suppose I can't complain about being born either, right?

^Hey another wonderful reason 1981 was a great year! You know I've always wondered how young GAH fans could be, well at least those that remember watching the show sometime during the 80s. With the DVD release, we probably have some really young fans around here, people that weren't even alive in the 80s. Teenagers born in the 90s are probably GAH fans these days. Did you watch the show in syndicated reruns during the rest of the 80s? Just because you would have been too young to have seen it during the original run in the early 80s. I think I am amongst some of those that could have been as young as possible and still remember the original early 80s run on ABC with pretty decent accuracy. I was 5 at the time. -scenario-
