OK, I'll be the douche bag here. Ready? Oooooh! A Japanese language track!!! Nifty! Wow! An interview with Mike Post! And nothing from Stephen Geyer who wrote all the songs to begin with! Great. Um, Mr. Cannell?? And no mention of all those changed cover songs. How diplomatic. OK, that aside, I really AM looking forward to this set (more than you'd think based on my pregnant doging above), but I thought thought those few things were worth mentioning. Here's hoping this set sells 8 million copies and leads to a 'special edition'! -Frank <the above post is meant in a somewhat lighthearted manner - please do not misinterpret>

I still wish they'd have kind of a round table discussion with the stars reminiscing together. I would love to watch them, having a great time, talking about all the funny things that happened on and off the set.
If it costs more for that, I'd happily pay more for the set.

One very realistic extra that would have been excellent (and is now apparently a missed opportunity) would be to have Culp do a commentary on the episode he wrote. His commentaries on "I Spy" were informative, frank, and packed with info.
Perhaps he could do at least one for the season 3 ep. he wrote....
Sigh...

ThatGirl, jimk, I agree with you. Although I appreciate whatever extras are added, a commentary by the cast, crew, whoever would have been great. It will be missed. I would love to hear Culp's comments on Vanity Says The Preacher. Although I'm sure he would have had plenty to say about Lilac's also.

Yeah, and it doesn't appear to me that Culp would have been unwilling to do a commentary - he's so energetic in the interview!

That's what I meant by "realistic" -- Katt may not be so into the show to do more than the one interview, and usually talent do get paid to do extras on releases, so budget may constraint bringing people back repeatedly -- but Culp does do good commentaries, and is quite verbose when it comes to his own work, so for the episodes he wrote I would imagine he would have plenty to say -- and not all of it TEXTnecessarilyTEXT would even be positive, but it would be interesting. They should bring him back in a big way for release 3, if at all possible.
That being said, if they only have X number of dollars, here's hoping it went to securing the rights to "Eve of Destruction" -- I'd rather have the episodes as originally presented more than anything else!

OK I'll go ahead and say it,--- The extras for the Season 2 DVD......SUCK! We are past the point where it was "we're just grateful to be getting these DVDs, we never even thought GAH would ever be released on DVD". We are past that, GAH has evolved into a larger cult franchise over the past year. Perhaps I'm being juvenille and ungrateful, but I feel this kinda blows. What the hell is the point of a Japanese language track for 200 mph Fastball? That was a pretty good episode, but it was certainly not the best. It's clear it's one of Cannell's favorites though. As excited as we all were over just getting Season 1, the truth is that the extras on that were sorta thin too. We had those 75 minutes of interviews and GAHeroine, but there could have been so much more in addition to that. Now I see the Season 2 specs and I am really dissapointed with this. Yeah I'm far more spoiled now then I was compared to even just 3 months ago, (where I was grateful to be getting ANYTHING) but the bar has been raised for GAH. We've tasted the good life and it stinks to have a Season with so few extras. I don't think they can just slide by like this. -scenario-

Well, I don't know if they sucked, believe it or not I don't know if Pare, Katt, Selleca have THAT much to say about the show -- Culp is verbose and usually has an opinion about everything -- I thought the interviews were generous. True, Katt didn't touch upon everything I might've asked him, but a 75-minute collection of interviews is pretty damn lengthy.
And I think I AM still grateful for getting the shows uncut and in good picture quality -- I am NOT grateful for the song changes, and that's what I think could've been different -- and if season 2 continues the trend, particularly on you-know-which-episode, that's when I'll get steamed. The Japanese track is goofy, and the choice of script is off-the-wall -- SILK STALKINGS season 2 has an equally bizarre choice for script offered. But other than the Culp commentary, I don't know what extras they could've offered that I feel would've guaranteed payback -- maybe they all didn't necessarily wanna be in the same room together! Katt doesn't seem all that friendly with Culp (who for all our love, I hear is a VERY hard guy to work with)....
I mean, a Joey Scarbury interview would be nice, but considreing they've so-far replaced well more than half of his vocals, are you really surprised that they've avoided speaking to him!

I know what you mean about not having a lot to say individually. That's why I think a discussion with all of them, (whomever is willing), would help the memories flood back, and we'd hear more than if they are interviewed alone. Just the conversation between Selleca and Paré seemed to be more fun than the others, although they were all great to see.
I don't really get the Japanese language track thing. Why?

I mean, a Joey Scarbury interview would be nice, but considreing they've so-far replaced well more than half of his vocals, are you really surprised that they've avoided speaking to him! I was going to chastise you for making such an extreme and ridiculously untrue comment....then I sat down and counted. In the first season, I count 16 instances where songs are played over the action; 7 have been replaced. Though not the "well more than half" that you claim. 7/16 is basically half. I mean, if I can't find the half inch wrench, I have no qualms reaching for the 7/16. Another way to look at it, though, is to count not the number of times they play songs, but how many songs there were; three were played twice during the season. Two of those were among those replaced on the DVD. So another way to look at it is that out of 13 seperate songs, they replaced 5. 5/13 is pretty close to 1/3.

They should have interviewed Stephen Geyer. After all, he has sole writing credit for EVERY original song on the show.

With the sole exception of "Believe it or Not".

I can understand GAH fans being upset by all the changes with the cover music and lack of extras. I thought there would be much more supplemental material on the season one DVD, so I was pretty disappointed that not only was the art (cover songs) compromised for monetary reasons, but also no commentary track. But then I looked at it this way...I never thought there would come a day when this show would see a release on DVD. What we've got is way better than nothing. And who knows what the future will bring.

With the sole exception of "Believe it or Not". Actually he did write the lyrics solo to every original song heard in TGAH. As for the theme, Post and Carpenter came up with the music, it was up to Stephen to write the lyrics.

Okay...I thought I had this figured out, but I don't er, the 1st season has 3 disc and 8 episodes...right? and I see that the 2nd season has 6 discs and 22 episodes... So, how were they able to squeeze all them shows on there? perhaps I'm thinking of it too hard...just a bit confused...
