It's the same menus, everything. Since the season has come so quickly on the heels of the 1st, it's not a shock they're using the same elements -- SILK STALKINGS had the same, so that wasn't a surprise to me. Although the menus have done the near impossible -- almost make me sick of "Believe it or Not"! I fall asleep with the dvd on and wake up the next morning having heard the same 15 seconds of "BION" subliminally probably a 1,000 times! This has happened more than once recently!

Just out of curiosity, Jim, do they keep the short version of the theme that was produced for the second season for episodes that ran a bit longer in time length?

Do you mean some opening credits are shorter than others? I haven't noticed -- do you know which ep. I might check? I've seen the opening creds on 3 eps today, but didn't notice anything -- but I wasn't lookin'...

They used a shorter version of the theme on the first four episodes of the second season and sporadically throughout the rest of the season. It's a trimmed down opening credit sequence, basically. Just curious.

It's funny, but I haven't memorized the op. credits (I should have, I've watched the 1st season in the last month!), but, yeah, I think it is a bit shorter on the season premiere -- doesn't the credits usually show Bill and Ralph squinting in the car as the spaceship arrives? The credits didn't have that -- I didn't notice anything else missing...

Based on what I've seen from the Japanese DVDs, you'll probably see the somewhat lengthened version of the intro (similar to the one that aired past that 4th season two episode, etc.), and will see the usual intro for all the season 3 episodes (sort of redone - different ending with Ralph staring into the camera, etc.).
One other thing, NONE of the episodes on ANY of the DVDs I've seen have any other credit than "CONNIE SELLECCA" listed for the actress (no "as Pam Davidson / Hinkley) as originally aired. Just some trivia for you.
Meanwhile... I..... AM..... SO.... PISSED.... OFF.... RIGHT.... NOW.....

The bad jokes just keep on coming....I'm watching OPERATION SPOILSPORT, OK? So Ralph gets the first message on the radio, and sure enough it's this new wimprock tune...really bad!
But then Ralph calls Bill, and says "They played Eve of Destruction" for me!!!!!"
Oh no they didn't, Ralph....
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they didn't cut the shot out, but between the EOD trivia question and Ralph's comment, some new viewers are going to be verrrryyy confused....

Man. that's bad. I wonder why the Japanese DVDs were allowed to keep the original cover songs intact. My guess would be there's not as many corporate trial lawyers in Japan.

There's plenty o'lawyers in Japan, but copyright law and all that isn't universal -- different countries have different policies, etc. -- but who knows? Maybe Japan ain't supposed to have the original tunes, and they'll be yanked next week!
Isn't the pilot coming soon in Japan? Wouldn't it be screwy if Cannell sent them the altered version of THAT? Not trying to scare anyone, but....yikes.

Well, if this is true. I'm horrfiyied. It just ruins some of the best episodes. If we had never seen these, then we wouldn't have know. But we have watched our tapes for years and have these songs ingrained in our minds.
I didn't mind the changes in the 1st season as much as I mind these 2nd season ones.
But at least I can have 'It's All Downhill from Here" uncut. [/sarcasm]

The shortened version of the opening sequence basically eliminates the second verse of the song. You get the first verse, the chorus, and then the chorus again. It's also, if I remember correctly, a different recording altogether (or at least a different mix). My memory (flawed though it may be) tells me that it was first used on the original broadcast of "Plague."
So.... is it on the DVDs? I'm already bummed that the teasers aren't there....

I can't swear to it. But I believe all the new prints made of the episodes a few years ago, have replaced the alternate version of the theme. I first ran into the change, when watching the shows broadcast on Showcase Action. I only watched all of those episodes a couple of times, but I don't remember the theme with the different mix airing. I'd have to dig out all of my old tapes to check, but I think the version your talking about aired the last time when the series ran on F/X. Sometime after the show ended it's run there, sometime in late 96, or during 1997 the new prints correcting mistakes or adding new sound FX were made. One of the changes was eliminating that alternate theme.

It gets even worse regarding the opening credits. Instead of the opening credits sequences that originally aired with the shows, they have a slightly altered version; someone else already pointed out that that it simply says "Connie Sellecca" instead of "and Connie Sellecca as Pam Davidson", which they started doing in the second season. They do include Grant and Pare in the opening credits but (here's were it get's unforgiveable) no Don Cervantes!
As you all may recall, several episodes into the second season, they moved Don up front, to the opening credits, where he remained right through the season finale. Not on the DVD. When we get to that point, as far as the episodes on the DVD are concerned, Don Cervantes receives no billing at all! And I checked, they didn't move his name back to the guest star credits or end credits for the DVD; the man is, quite literally, discredited!.
Now, for the seven-or-so episodes that he wasn't in after they moved him up, I don't care....but the ones that he's in? WTF?!?

Please list them again so I can see how wrong I am. Patrick Hasburgh holds sole writing credit for the following episodes of GAH:"Now You See It" "It's All Downhill From Here" "Who's Woo in America" "Divorce, Venusian Style" "Heaven is in Your Genes" Patrick Hasburgh holds sole writing credit for the following episodes of The A-Team:"Black Day at Bad Rock" "The Beast From the Belly of a Boeing" "Diamonds 'n' Dust" Patrick Hasburgh holds sole writing credit for the following episodes of Hardcastle & McCormick:"Mr. Hardcastle Goes to Washington" "The Homecoming" Parts 1 & 2 "Outlaw Champion" "You and the Horse You Rode In On" "She May Not Be Deep, But She Sure Is Fast" "Do Not Go Gently" ...and many others, but these are some of the ones that have really "stayed" with me. Patrick Hasburgh holds sole writing credit for the following episodes of 21 Jump Street:"21 Jump Street" (pilot) "The Worst Night of Your Life" "Don't Stretch the Rainbow" "A Big Disease With a Little Name" I've said it before and I'll say it again, in the most basic Frankenstienan terms: Fire bad, Patrick Hasburgh good. I don't know how else to put it. May the God of the Pre-Orb Cult watch over and protect the negatives of every show he's ever written.
