Well, if he's reading here, I hope he will consider adding some group interviews to the Season 3 release. I mean the stars, not the guy who ran the boom, (or whatever that's called!) The three main stars and the "kids", (the original kids), sort of round-table style.

I am curious about what is going to be like the extra/bonus section on Series 3, I'd better check on AB's site if there's any news about that. I mean the stars, not the guy who ran the boom. ;DhaHaHahhAH nice one!

I'm not expecting too much in the way of extras for season 3 -- they definitely economized on season 2 extras by providing the same Cannell/Post documentaries on several season 2 disc sets (Silk Stalkings has the same), and to bring everyone together like that would cost money and take time, which if they're going to hit an August street date isn't likely going to happen -- besides, did anyone but me notice that Katt simply doesn't seem to like Culp too much? Culp is known as a difficult guy to work with that you either love or hate (I have a friend who worked on BIG BAD MAMA 2 with him, and he could safely be termed "difficult"). While I assume he's not hostile (they are doing the convention appearance together) I'm not sure if they generally are the types to warmly sit around with each other and reminisce.
I'd rather fans came up with specific questions to ask the leads which they could answer on their own, w/o the others there --- sitting around the table convos (like Culp's BOB AND CAROL AND TED AND ALICE) generally devolve into "aren't you great" and "Isn't it great seeing ourselves young" -- I think if they had solicited questions on a site, well, like this one, from real fans, they certainly could've cherrypicked 20 good quality ones for Pare, Katt, Selleca, Culp & Cannell to answer. In my wildest dreams, that would be the way to go!

LOL! Well, in my dream, they get along well enough to chat and spark more memories in each other than they might think of just on their own. When you get together with old friends, (o.k. co-workers only maybe), they remind you of things you otherwise might not remember.
If Katt is a real actor, he can grit his teeth and get along. It's just a part, and he can use the gig.
You're right, though. It's all just moot if the release date is in August. Too bad. Maybe Cannell should make it really great, and release it for Christmas.
If the release date is August, does that mean that the discs are actually already finished, and they are just waiting for what they consider a strategic time to release them?

Well, I'm sure they're still putting them together (or at least it's reasonable to think so), but to add a documentary, no matter how loosely done, would involve getting the actors together in the same room on the same day, hiring sound and video guys, then having an editor, working on clearances, etc.
And while reunions do bring out a lot of memories, truth be told, there's also a lot of talking-over-each-other and digressions that might be pleasant, but ultimately don't add up to much. Many group commentaries --- I'm thinking BOOGIE NIGHTS, BOB & CAROL, etc., have people talking over each other, not filling in details (because the people in the room know who/what they're talking about), and beginning points that are frustratingly interrupted by someone, never to be returned to! With a moderator, it could work, but Culp's solo commentaries on I SPY are sooooooo much better than the one he participates in for BOB & CAROL. I'd love to see him do one on VANITY, maybe Katt and Selleca could do one for the wedding episode....
There ARE group commentaries that work out fine. But generally I find myself turning them off about 20 minutes in on most dvds...

Sounds like you've seen more than I have, so you are probably right. I was thinking of something more like an reunion type thing, with an interviewer/moderator, but you are right. Too big and costly.
Wish we could get someone like Jay Leno or Oprah to actually invite them all on a show to do a reunion. It would sell lots of DVDs I bet.

I hope Cannell and co. visit this site. I really do. I'd love to see Stephen J.'s reaction to a message thread that reads "Received my bootlegs yesterday . . . very happy!" Then I'd love to hear them complain so we could all respond: "WELL IF YOU HAD RELEASED THE SHOW 'PROPERLY' AND NOT GONE ON THE CHEAP, THERE'D BE NO NEED (or desire) FOR BOOTLEGS! Oh, and THANKS FOR THE TEASERS TOO, YOU TOOL!" That I'd really like!

Hi! I'm a long-time show fan but a newbie to this web site. I too just bought Seasons 1 & 2 (the official DVD releases). I hadn't yet had the chance to view the DVDs before reading this thread...yes, I agree, those original songs made up part of the charm and essence of the episodes. I've got a few questions: #1: So...um...from whom might I be able to buy these bootleg DVDs with the original scores? #2: Are the bootlegs the full episodes or abbreviated syndicated ones? #3: Are the official releases full episodes or abbreviated syndicated ones? #4: In the last 10 - 15 years, I videotaped the series from TV twice...once on a local South Florida station and once when FX was broadcasting it early into the FX network's existence. I found that both versions cut out scenes...but the scenes they cut out were different on network TV versus FX...! I'm planning to dump the videotaped versions once I have a complete DVD set (with original music)...but my concern is that the DVDs may also be missing some of the scenes in one or the other of the versions I taped long ago. Anyone have enough knowledge about the various syndicated versions to guide me to the right decision here? #5: Second-to-last question: Eve of Destruction: My recollection of it was that when it first aired during the original run of the series, it was an extended episode...instead of the traditional hour, it was an hour and a half or two hours. Am I having a premature senior moment here, or am I remembering correctly? #6: Last question now! 8-) I'm also an avid videogame collector...Atari, Colecovision, Adventurevision, and other old-school games. Activision had planned to release a Greatest American Hero videogame cartridge based upon the series...I even own a promotional t-shirt for the game. Anyone here happen to have an advance release of that game, or know of any history/lore about the plans, creation, and ultimate resting place for it? Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie! Sincerely, Jeff R. Well, after learning that EoD was removed from OS I just had to get bootlegs instead of the official versions. I could live with the first season because (with the exception of the pilot), it wasn't that strong of a season. However, the show really hit its stride in season 2. I picked up the DVDs from someone on this site for $40 (Season 2 & 3) and the quality is very good. I'd really rather have the official versions since they come on far less DVDs than my sets, but I can't live with the song replacements. There were so many good ones in season 2! Now I just need to get some quad DVD cases, and I can make some artwork and stick them in my DVD collection. Anyone else picking up bootlegs in light of the butchering that has taken place on these sets?

Sincerely, Jeff R. Welcome to the board Jeff! I can answer almost all of your questions. 3. The official release are the full episodes. Minus the 30 second teasers that appeared before the opening credits during the run on ABC. The only exception to that is the 2nd season episode Classical Gas. It has the actual running time trimmed due to the cover tunes that Faye Grant sang. 4. Again, the episodes on DVD are intact, (footage wise)except for Classical Gas. 5. You are not remembering correctly. Operation Spoilsport was a regular 1 hr episode. No episodes of TGAH ran more than an hour, except for the pilot movie. 6. As for Activision, and the shirt. If it's a white shirt, with red trim that has TGAH symbol on the front, trailed by a rainbow like tail, with the words "Activision Greatest American Hero" on the back it is from their TGAH/Activision Starmaster contest that ran during the 3rd season of the show. The shirt was a runner up prize. Activision had no plans to make a game of the series. Again, welcome to the board! We all look forward to more of your posts!

thank goodness for the bootlegs. Some of the "official" releases really wreak in comparison to the bootlegs which are in the form they were originally intended to be before the butchering occurred. As to why they chose to not release the teasers is basically inexcuseable. I'd recommend bootlegs to anyone. Especially for Season 2.

Yeah, hopefully you won't see as much of that for the USA release of Season Three, as it did not contain nearly as many cover songs (and almost half as many episodes). Too bad they're making the USA fans wait until August.

The quicker they do them, the likely sloppier they are (SILK STALKINGS is a clear example of this)-- I don't think making us wait until August (considering there was nothin' out last year!) to have all 3 seasons is unbearable -- the longer period is the only hope we might get extras of quality...

I picked up the official seasons 1 & 2, then grabbed up the entire series via bootleg. I'm still gonna buy the official season 3 (there'd better be some interesting extras).
I kinda like having alternate music scores, as I've really liked all of the covers in the official releases.
