For those of you that may be curious as to what is up with the order of the episodes on the newly released 3rd season DVD set. They are in the actual production number order, not the order that they were aired in.
I have no idea why Anchor Bay chose to do this, or if it was done as per Cannell's instructions.

Thanks for clearing the story order up. I thought the order was odd when I popped in the first DVD, since I knew "Divorce Venusian Style" was shown first. Originally, I thought they had placed them in the same order as the Japanese versions, but that didn't make sense once I reread the post on the Japanese DVDs.
So far, I've enjoyed the third season, as I haven't seen these since they first aired. I'm disappointed about the lack of extras, especially since Anchor Bay decided to have the coming releases twice in the collection. I don't want to spoil anything else though, just in case others haven't seen the third season release yet.

Sorry guys but these CANNOT be in production order because I just saw Live at Eleven (which incidentally was much better than I had remembered) and Pam and Ralph ARE MARRIED in this episode, but they don't get married until later in the season. That means that this episode HAD to have been produced AFTER the episodes on Disk 2.
Does anyone know the REAL production order and why these episodes do appear in this manner. It is, as someone noted, different from the order on the Japanese DVDs and also different from the order in which the episodes aired. Clearly something is wrong here. Please help me out.

Sorry guys but these CANNOT be in production order quote] Milton the episodes are in the actual production NUMBER order. I have the scripts, and they number the exact same way as the order on the discs. However that does not mean they were FILMED in that order. For whatever reason some episodes were shot out of the script order. I said production number order, instead of the order that the episodes were produced, just for the reason you pointed out. Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't that specific in yesterdays post. That was my oversight. Some of the episodes that were supposed to be produced before The Newlywed Game, had to be "tweaked" to reflect the fact that Ralph and Pam were married, since they ended up shooting those shows after the wedding episode.

I'm still confused on this...grrr... l can't remember the shows in order that they aired. Naturally when I got the DVDs, I watched Disc 1 first and noticed Ralph and Pam were married but the Wedding episode was until several shows later. Can someone post the correct list? I'd rather watch the shows in the order they aired, then the order they were filmed.

You must've been watching GAHeroine, which is on the S1 DVD, cuz everyone knows they weren't married till the third season.

I think he is referring to Disk 1 of Season 3. Now as far as I can tell the order in which they were aired (although techincally the last episodes never were aired is as follows (based on GAH website - link above).
1. Divorce Venusian Style 2. The Price is Right 3. This is the One the Suit was Meant For 4. The Resurrection of Carlini 5. The Newlywed Game 6. Heaven is in Your Genes 7. Live at Eleven 8. Space Ranger 9. Thirty Seconds Over Little Tokyo 10. Wizards and Warlocks 11. Desperado 12. It's Only Rock n' Roll 13. Vanity, Says the Preacher
They were obviously scrambling, trying to find episodes that they thought would get higher ratings (although airing Price is Right was a poor choice). Personally, I would like to know what order they were filmed in. If the Production Number was not when they were filmed, when were they filmed? You can see Ralph's wedding ring in several episodes before the Wedding episode, including (I believe) Resurrection of Carlini, yet this episode was chosen to be aired before the wedding episode. Anyway you look at it, it is a confusing mess.

Hi All,
This is my first time on here. I was really confused when I watched the 3rd season because of the order. I just looked up an episode guide prior to watching GAH and I knew it was a little outta wack. Either way, I still enjoyed watching all 3 seasons! This was my favorite show as a kid and it was great to see the old gang again. I just wish there were more episodes...I'm going through withdrawl. Thanks.

They could have gotten away with airing the episodes in any order they wanted... had they started the season ON-TIME and in it's original (Wednesday - 7pm CST) timeslot.

I'm nearly ready to start watching Season three (only a couple of S2 episodes to go), and was wondering: isn't there something like a "preferred viewing order" for the third season? I have no specific preference for actual production order, production number order, or the order in which they were aired - I'd just like to watch them in the order which makes the most sense - specifically in relation to the wedding. Anyone able to produce a list like this? Or can I use the order as used on the Japanese DVD's?

I personally plan on going by aired order, unless someone suggests otherwise.
Of course, you have to start with the Season Three opener, the astoundingly great "Divorce Venusian Style."
Problem with that is they all go downhill from there (not necessarily BAD, mind you--it's an exemplary episode!)
I've heard the order on the discs are willy-nilly, that in some eps Pam and Ralph are married, then suddenly they aren't, and back and forth. Lame.

The order is WHACKED, as is most things having to do with the USA DVD release unfortunately. Even more strange (but not as annoying), the order listing on the Japanese DVD release is also slightly 'off' from the original airing order, but only towards the end of season 3. I'm willing to be a house that Desperado was supposed to air (or at least was filmed) earlier than the order we're used to seeing it placed (as one of the 'final four'). Just a hunch.

I think so too and I felt that way because Cannell wrote it and he became less and less involved as the series progressed through Season 3.
