OK I am completely ashamed to admit this as a DIE HARD Greatest American Hero fan since 1981.....
but I forgot that the 3rd Season DVDs were being released on August 2nd last Tuesday! Good Lord, how could I forget such a thing? GAH always gets a special priority over other "TV shows" or "movies". Damn, it just slipped my memory until my cousin reminded me about it in casual conversation the other day. I have also been consumed by other things in my life. I knew Season 3 was coming out in August, but for some reason I kept thinking it was later this month. I feel like I should "resign" as a fan or something, turn in the old Maxwell pistola and badge.
Did anyone else forget? I don't know, even here on these boards the buzz for Season 3 certainly isn't as intense as Season 1 and 2 was. It seems more like, "ehh, season 3 DVD came out".
I still don't have a copy of the DVDs, I will probably buy them later this week. I pre-ordered the other two sets, and I kept checking the mail like every freakin' day for Season 1 and 2. Seriously, when my cous reminded me about it, I was very embarrassed that I just totally forgot about it. The anticipation for Season 3 just hasn't been with me I guess (I already have the episodes on tape), especially since I knew it would be a bare bones DVD with (again) no teaser trailers.

I wouldn't worry about it or turn in your badge, as I almost forgot myself (I did remember before the 2nd though). So far, I've enjoyed the third season, since I only remember "The Resurrection of Carlini" from the first run correctly, and that only because of the water torture trick. Very good, but spooky episode.
I can see why the buzz of the third season isn't intense. The one thing that upset me with the no extras was that Anchor Bay decided to place "Coming to DVD" ads twice in the collection, one (automatic) on the first DVD and another (selection) on the fourth. Few people look at ads while extras (for the most part) are something people look at over and over again. If I was Anchor Bay, I would have at least put one extra on the third season DVD, even if it was just an outtake, TV ad or photo gallery.

Unfortunately Anchor Bay was not the one responsible for rounding up the bonus material, Cannell Productions was. The bonus material for the first two sets was totally produced by the company, and sent to Anchor Bay to include on the discs. In most cases Anchor Bay would have been in charge of the creation of the disc content, not in this case. The agreement they signed with Cannell was for packaging and distribution only. All material on the discs, any changes, additions, extras, etc made to the episodes or material was all from SJC Cannell Productions.

And you call yourself the Supreme Being. I agree with the Bureau Chief, you're fired.
Heck, I thought they were due out today (the 9th, Mom's birthday.) Oh well, until I am making dollars, all I can do is dream of the DVDs and download eps as I can (got two so far, part I of the pilot and the Captain Burgerbelly ep, which kinda sucked but oh well, it's still got Bill in it.)
I ain't ripping anyone off, btw, I'm anxiously looking forward to having all three seasons in my grubby little paws, once I've got the moneys.
Been trying to get "Divorce..." for the last day and it keeps saying I've only got two more hours to go... damned modem on the other end any way. What's the point of having DSL if it takes this long??

And you call yourself the Supreme Being. I agree with the Bureau Chief, you're fired. I was aware the set was going to be released on Aug. 2, that's why I put it in the news fader. Scenario is the one who forgot. He's an agent, not a Surpreme Being.

I didn't realize that Anchor Bay wasn't in charge of the content, and I based my comments on other DVDs I've collected. In my reasoning I named the wrong people. I do think Cannell Productions could have at least added one extra, especially after seeing the coming soon ads twice in the collection. Have to admit about the Coming to DVD ads though, the songs are now stuck in my head, and I only watched them once.

Many people haven't realized all those decisions were made by Cannell's company, and not Anchor Bay. Which surprises me somewhat about the discs content. Since the actual company that produced the show originally was in charge of the DVD's, I thought they would have turned out a bit different. However, I can sit here and 2nd guess reasons behind certain aspects of the discs, I'm not "in the know" to understand why some decisions were made. I'm just very happy the show is out on DVD, in the quality that it is.

The third season collection is good, as were the other two. There are some things I like about the third season set better than the first two, such as the menus. They are easier to read and the theme is played softer to match the design.

Hey don't feel too bad about it. I thought I'd forget too...I mean the others were released within a couple of months, and we had to wait quite awhile to get this set. It's been a long summer. I figured it was going to be released on Aug. 9th and ended up being out a week or so early. So I'm probably one of the last ones to get my set now...
