Did anyone else feel pleasantly surprised by some of the Season 3 episodes? I hadn't seen them since the original broadcasts, and many of them are actually quite good. The average Season 3 episode ranks higher, IMO, than the average Season 2 episode. The acting was much better and the three leads really worked well together. Even an episode like "Wizards & Warlocks" becomes worth watching just because of the interplay of the main characters. I couldn't say the same thing for Season 2 duds like "It's all Downhill from Here." Episodes like "The One the Suit was Meant for" rank among the best in the series. Just a little bit o' cheer... I feel like too often I whine and complain about the DVDs instead of looking on the bright side

Effects wise, character wise, I thought that the show was just starting to hit its stride...Episodes like Divorce Venusian Style cement that belief. Just as the series was starting to really "fly high" it got cancelled. If it had gone a 4 th or 5th season I would have liked to have seen a nemesis that would appear more often, like a high profile businessman involved in various criminal activities but could never be connected to anything and was starting to devote time in learning who "the man in red" was. I would have liked to have ssen Ralph fight someone who has a suit and went bad and knows all his powers, unlike Ralph.

Great idea! And I agree, the show was just hitting its stride, after foundering for a while in the second season. Really, the show began hitting its stride at the end of the second season, around the time of "Dreams". But this season the actors had really grown into their characters and showed great promise for the future. [Sigh] A 4th or 5th season, imagine?

Just got my disks havent watched them yet but did browse a disk whats up with the new menus? I don't know why they changed the menus, but I like them a little better than the first two. You can read the text a little bit better and the music isn't quite as dominating. For example, I'm not blown out of my chair with a "Ta-da" style music when the menu changes to scene selection. From watching the episodes, I also agree that the third season was showing great strides in special effects and characterizations. I mean, it looked like Ralph was flying as you could see the ground from all directions as well as the sky. IMO, the original technique didn't always allow for this. The actors were stronger in their roles and it showed in the stories. They helped make some weaker stories stronger. There were weak episodes, but that happens in any show. It was also stronger overall because it focused more on real life situations and not chasing monsters.

I forgot how great it was to see Ralph's expression with CABALLO ROJO...that is a treasure in VANITY.

I also enjoyed seeing the Carlini and Wizards and Warlocks episodes again. I forgot how fun they were overall...and how well done they were for such in-depth ideas.

I've never liked Carlini, but I will not deny Connie in that outfit. Also, I'm now a fan of 'Vanity...' and it used to be one of my least favorite episodes. Funny how that can be...

VANITY is awesome for a lot of reasons, but I especially love the comic book idea about Ralph...that's great.

Really. I Love the way he explains about his hair. I wish they could've gone into it more though.
