Other than the music issues, are the DVD episodes cut up in any way, scene-wise? For someone who only vaguely remembers GAH in 1987 repeats, the different music is a non-issue. But I have no idea if I'm watching full episodes or not. Thanks!

Any scenes cut out from syndication are back in on the DVDs, so they are the full episodes, with one exception: singing.
Any scenes which show people singing the music that was NOT written by Stephen Geyer were edited out, or other shots were stuck in again to cover up the omission. Two glaring examples would be in Classical Gas, where Faye Grant sang a couple of covers, edited out except where it was a reverse shot of her back; and in "Newlywed Game" where the wedding singer auditions a "contemporary" Carpenters song for Pam and her mother, completely removed.
Strangely enough, "Operation: Spoilsport", the one episode where the music change is the most upsetting, does not seem to be edited at all, just the song. They didn't even cut out or dub over the part where Ralph mentions the original "Eve of Destruction" request by name! (J-Man, greenguy, or someone else more knowledgable than me will have to confirm this, tho)

They should've paid the rights for it because it was vital to the story. The removal is too obvious. I have listened to "EoD," and the replacement is a bit too slow. "Classical Gas" you can tell something going on if you remember watching it earlier, but I didn't really notice until Rhonda's hand motions at the concert didn't match the song (off beat). "The Newlywed Game," however, I never noticed the change until it was mentioned here.

I agree that the song is a trifle slow for SPOILSPORT, but it does fit better than the one in the pilot that replaces ROCKETMAN and HELP ME, RHONDA.

Yeah, never understood the reason for "Don't think that this is not your town." Doesn't make sense. The one with the bus at least makes a little sense, though the originals are the best.

I don't know if they are the best. I actually think the replacement song in OPERATION: SPOILSPORT works better than EVE OF DESTRUCTION. EVE OF DESTRUCTION is about Vietnam and the whole anti-war protest. To that end, it fits SPOILSPORT due to anti-war sentiment, but for no other reason. EVE OF DESTRUCTION was MUCH more effectively used in the A-TEAM fourth season finale when they went back to Vietnam on a case.

Thank you...must be an edited scene of the Greatest American Hero...but that's okay...I found it.
