Hello everyone, I thought I'd ask you if there were any episodes where you thought the replacement music was actually good and fit the episode. I've heard good things about the replacement music for "My Heroes have all been Cowboys", are there any others?

I think the change in OPERATION: SPOILSPORT is great. WIZARDS AND WARLOCKS was not overly hurt by the loss of PINBALL WIZARD since the music sounds synthesized enough, so the replacement music was fine there. In HOG WILD, the replacement music isn't better than the original, but it is just as good.

What exactly did you like about the change in Spoilsport?

I just liked the fact that the song did not make blatant references to Vietnam. I thought EVE OF DESTRUCTION was much more acceptable in the fourth season finale of the A-TEAM where they return to Vietnam after all this time for a case. The song on SPOILSPORT now fit the mood and was tailored to the show as a replacement, so it fits very well...better than the original, I think.

houdiniderek, I am no longer your friend. Seriously, I CAN'T BELIEVE you thought the changes in Spoilsport were great. You are TEARING ME APART, houdiniderek!!! Ah well, to each their own, I suppose. Interesting that you take that view though!

I know...I seem to be the only one that recognizes how brilliantly they covered the EVE OF DESTRUCTION part. I want to know why people like it there so much since it IS a Vietnam song and not really a WWW3 type of song. Can you answer me that? If you can, Maxwell, maybe I will still concede to being YOUR friend.

I have to agree on the point that Eve fit The A-Team episode better than Spoilsport. However some of the lyrics were left out of the Spoilsport version to make it fit the episode moreso than the way it's used in The A Team. I have to say I hate the song on the DVD set, and it no longer has the impact as it did in the original version. Not mention the the little things like the action on the screen matching the lyrics: "Now the button is pushed..." and we see Ralph pressing the elevator button, also: "Take a look around you boy...." and Bill is looking around as he walks the hallway. This isn't a slam against your opinion hd, just bringing forth how the song works for me in the episode. Back to The A-Team for a moment, in my opinion The Sound of Thunder is one the best episodes in that shows run.

I concur on that A-Team viewpoint. I think overall the song is used more effectively in the A-Team. I think it did justice to SPOILSPORT, but not as much. If it had to be kept in one show, I hope they keep it in fourth season A-TEAM. They have kept everything else except JUMPING JACK FLASH so far. I know there are you out there that hate the song changes...and I am one of them overall, but I don't think it killed SPOILSPORT, WIZARDS, or HOG WILD too much.

I have to admit that I actually really like ALL of the song changes on the DVDs... frankly, because I didn't remember enough about the show & the songs used to even know there was anything different. I only found out when I started hanging around here. Though, I did pick up a set of the episodes in their original form, which I'm glad to have. I switch off between the different versions & pick out what's different & what's the same.

One of the worst song changes is the OUR TOWN song for ROCKET MAN in the pilot.

One of the worst song changes is the OUR TOWN song for ROCKET MAN in the pilot. Yeah, that one was the only one I could really tell was a switched song. It doesn't make sense with the scene. Now, my two cents on Eve of Destruction. It's not a bad change, but it would've been better with the original since it's mentioned in the show. I actually like the change to Pinball Wizard, as the music sounds like something from an arcade game from that time, and probably would've worked for "Dungeons and Dragons" (sorry, that is the game they used for the "W&W" arcade) if it had background music. (Though I'd never would hear that music long. I kept getting killed by the bats and rats in that game).

In the pilot, I don't mind that they got rid of HELP ME, RHONDA because that had no reason to be on the bus scene either. I like the switch there too.

Other than the music is a bit younger than the show (sounds '90s to me), it does work well as a replacement. Like I said the one I've mentioned is the most noticible change out of all of them. (Not mentioning Classical Gas, because they simply chopped it up, so it's noticible as is) Though it'd been better if they kept in all the songs, especially "EoD" (only b/c of reference), and definitely Faye's songs in Classical Gas.

I am not remembering a lot of the missing music from CLASSICAL GAS so it is a hard episode for me to comment on. Can someone tell me all of the changed music in that episode?

The one change i dislike the most is operation spoilsport eve of destruction second would be from the pilot major tom.All the other changes i can deal with.but truth be told for me its the original songs that i really love the most. My favs being Dreams, Everything you dream,Desperado,Sometimes,Any time you need me,And of course the theme song. ;D
