I know this may have been discussed on another board already, but has anyone thought of a good idea for the plot?
I liked the idea of Tony becoming a F.B.I. agent. If Ralph had to find a successor to wear the suit, then maybe Bill has to find a successor as well...He just wants to retire and go fishing!
Or...Bill enlists the aid of Ralph to find who murdered Holly (or was it Molly? Dolly?) when she wasn't wearing the suit. (I know how much she's adored on these boards).
I personally am leaning towards a well-done reunion on TV. If that is not possible, I hope it would be well done film, and not like some other shows that were butchered on the big screeen ala Tom Arnold's McHale's Navy!

How did they kill her? Did they make her stop talking first? I'm sorry, that's sick. That was right on a par with...something a guy would say! YIKES. I'm ashamed.
How about kidnapped instead? But, with a big piece of duct tape across her mouth?

...ala Tom Arnold's McHale's Navy! Oh god, I forgot about that film. Ah well, at least it had Bruce Campbell in it.

I agree with ThatGirl, Holly was annoying, but if they did use her in a TV movie or movie version of GAH, then she should be kidnapped. Better still, as the GAHeroine was a failed pilot, then the character wouldn't have to be included.

For a few years I had written fan fiction for Quantum Leap at a site called Al's Place...They have virtual seasons where a new episode (written story) airs every week for 32 weeks (like a tv season)...The site is about to start it's 7th season (Season 12 if you count the 5 years QL aired)...During last season, a few writers and I wrote a ton of episodes to make a season-long story arc kinda like what Enterprise did in Season 3...It kinda burned me out afterwards, but after the episodes were penned, I had time to get the GAH DVD sets and watch them for the first time since I raced home from little league basketball over 20 years ago.
It made me think about writing a Virtual Series for GAH, but make it current with a new hero called the Next Greatest American Hero. I had planned to have Tony be a trained FBI agent (Before I even read it on here yesterday), and I envision Ralph, Pam, and Bill having minor roles. I do have an idea as to who the suit would be given to (Not Tony), and I had ideas as to how to link why Holly stopped wearing the suit and explore more about the little green guys and establish that they had more in mind than just giving Ralph a suit all those years ago.
With NGAH, I want to keep the aspect of learning the suit's powers "on the fly" without instructions and introduce a few new abilities too, but also create a sense of continuity kinda like how Smallville is doing it. I am in the process of writing a "bible" for NGAH, but I am also waiting to see what the movie holds as to whether it might mess up my ideas...

I haven't bothered looking at GAHeroine, but maybe I will. I love Bruce Campbell, and I think it's obvious I love Culp too, lol. She croaks in this movie??

Once I am done watching Season 3 I am seriously thinking of starting this...Having read other people's ideas it seems we think alike.... (FADE TO RED BACKGROUND) (Dramatic V.O. with dramatic inspirational music like Saving Private Ryan suite): In the last few decades, the world has changed from the one we used to remember. No longer does the planet hinge on the activities of Communists. Since the early 21st Century, a new threat has emerged to represent those who would hurt and terrorize the American way of life. Crime, in all of its forms, still exists to corrupt the good of mankind. In the early 1980's, one man was given the opportunity to prevent crimes that would be carried out against society. When truth of his existence became known to the world, his role was passed on to another. Over time, even that person's actions soon passed into oblivion. Years have passed, the role of saving mankind from those who would attack it has remained vacant.... ...Until now.... The need for someone to protect us from evil has never been greater. A cry has gone out for a hero to save us. That cry for help will soon be answered. Twenty years have passed since one man took on the role of protecting us. And now his son has been chosen to take his place. (ZOOM OUT OF RED BACKGROUND TO REVEAL...) Rediscover the magic as he discovers his powers, old ones passed down from his predecessors and some that are new. The name Kevin Hinkley may not be known to the world he will soon be destined to protect, but he will become known as.... THE NEXT GREATEST AMERICAN HERO (LOUD SLOW SUSTAINED INSTRUMENTAL 'BELIEVE IT OR NOT' FOLLOWED BY CAPTION:) STARRING WILLIAM KATT, ROBERT CULP, CONNIE SELLECA, MICHAEL PARE' as FBI Agent Tony Villacona, and INTRODUCING _____________ AS Kevin Hinkley.... Based on characters created by Stephen J. Cannell COMING SOON (FADE OUT MUSIC)

I would like to see Kevin get the suit, Tony as an FBI agent under Maxwell's instructional wisdom, Ralph and Pam return, a very wealthy businessman criminal mastermind as a recurring nemesis with connections to terrorists, possibly Al-queda (I think current events can be used effectively here)...I also would like to see if the Green Guys have an agenda...like a Legion of Suits, Kevin would be 1 of 7 suits sprinkled all over the world since having just 1 in LA is not enough to combat evil anymore. That means 6 more books possibly scattered over the globe, and Kevin could try to seek out at least 1 other like him or all of them. As a sequel, I'd like to see one of the 7 go bad, and Kevin would have to stop him while meanwhile the 'rogue' suit knows enough about Kevin to try and expose him to the world or hurt his family... At some point, contact should be cut off from the Green Guys, meaning Kevin would be on his own, no help...

A plot for a new team can be just about anything, but it needs to be more than run of the mill stop the bad guys. Maybe something in today's terms along the lines of stopping a nuclear bomb going off in town or something similar to saving the president in the original pilot. Who would wear the suit? Could be male or female, as long as they have problems with the suit and are human. One issue I had with Holly was that she was too perfect and perky. It's sad when someone can impersonate your "I'll make you proud of me Ralph, you too Bill" down to the mannerisms because it's said almost too perfectly.

Does it? A lot of the original show was based off stopping bad guys too, but the overall intent was more on character building than anything else.

Sorry, what I meant was that it needed to be stop the bad guys, but "GAHeroine" had save the whales. Even a major jewelry heist would've been more of a test of their skills IMHO. The lame fight in the barroom also didn't really build any characterization or teamwork between Bill and Holly (at least what was filmed). We got a rather ludicrous training sequence and barroom fight, and not really any arguments or talk between the two to begin with about being a team now instead of Ralph and Bill. What little we see of interpersonal discussion from Holly is the "job interview" Ralph gives her and the bit at "Anything's Pawsable" where we find out about Sarah.

I don't mind a save the whales episode now and again (how is it worse than DESPERADO?) but I agree that the opening episode should not have it so much....or if a movie, I think it should be a fringe benefit of what they DO solve.
