If Joss Whedon were brought on board to write the screenplay. I believe he's one of better writers working today. It would be interesting to see what his take on the characters would be.

I guess, but it seems that most of his work was on a different sort of storyline like BUFFY or ANGEL and I think that would influence his writing. He might bring in some comedy like he did to ROSEANNE, but I think that it would lack some of the feeling that went into the original show.

Did he write Roseanne? I never realized that. His writing was so dark and depressing on Buffy and Angel. I mean, it was supposed to be, so he was great at it, but GAH seems "hopeful" to me, instead of "hopeless".
If a writer is that talented, he can write just as well in a different genre.

Possibly, but ROSEANNE was not exactly a HOPEFUL show.

Haha! You're right! Whedon was perfect for Roseanne, wasn't he? Couldn't get much more depressing than that show, especially the last few seasons!

It was never GOOD to start with, but it was better in the beginning.

As long as it isn't Rick Berman...he singlehandedly destroyed Star Trek
I would like Al Miles and Michael Gough...they write for Smallville and also wrote Spiderman 2...they know how to bring out human and dramatic elements of a superhero and still blend some comedic moments

As long as it is not Babs Greyhosky either.

I think SJC would probably have to be brought on-board to make it worthwhile. I know the J-Man would say Patrick Hasburgh too...and I wouldn't count Frank Lupo out...he really got his groove on the A-Team and I think he would be ready to make it kick arse this time around on the GAH.

Just now finding this thread, thanks HoudiniDerek! I was a fan of Buffy and Angel. I thought the writing was great on it. Angel definitely had a dark feeling to it and most of the eps on Buffy were dark toned at times. Other times, there were light toned episodes that were great and I think Joss could possibly pull it off with GAH. FWIW my favs from Buffy "Hush","Once More With Feeling","Dopplegangland". To write a script/episode where there is barely little talking in it.. and on the other end of the spectrum where most of the episode is almost musical like. That takes talent.

I suppose...although I still think the original writers would have a better feel for the characters...especially if they want them more character-driven as they were in the series. If they wanted flashy stuff, then yeah, this Whedon character could probably do it, but not as well.
