Cool... thanks HD. Are you one of them? I meant people that were making movies and such. I thought you just wrote fanfiction. I'm helping write a script with someone... that's all I'm saying. I have written a script too before, it was just 20 years ago and for a cartoon that was made several years before I got to see it.

This is just speculation but I think something is going on with TGAH.com and Cannell! Again this is just my speculation. Here is what I noticed... On the very same day that Cannell placed the "The Greatest American Hero" Trivia on their front page www.cannell.com/TGAH.com placed a countdown timer on their front page www.tgah.comCoincidence or Just Dumb Luck? "B"

"B" When was that? The trivia has been on Cannell's page for awhile. I don't think they are connected at all. Nor can I find any conection between the owner of tgah.com and Cannell. If anything was official, I think Cannell would already be using the domains they have access to. Not another one owned and just recently started by this guy. Especially when thuis guy has absolutely no track record when it comes to TGAH. All of this of course is my own opinion.

I've been suspicious for other reasons but one case I admit is a bit paranoia (and most would know where).
I'm just skeptical about the whole enchilada, given this is the third attempt so far. And, I feel the countdown bit was done if nothing else to coincide with the trivia bit.

And, I feel the countdown bit was done if nothing else to coincide with the trivia bit. Me too. I hope they know what the heck they're doing, and would be prepared for an eventual backlash from the fans(especially us) if this is a complete and utter failure,or they screw up what we know and make drastic changes to it. Or small enough changes to it to make it something different or something that sort of resembles it somewhat like what Kubrick did to The Shining.

It looks like this series will be little more than visual fan fiction; we can take it or leave it without any impact on the "official" GAH universe. I'm into video production myself and would love to make my own show, knowing that it would just be my own interpretation and people won't have to like it; there's plenty of other versions to choose from. I have had script ideas for a show like this running around in my head for years, but they are too complex to bring to screen without official studio backing, which is why nothing has really been done about it yet. If I can get enough volunteers together (that won't laugh at me when I tell them I'm making a GAH fan series) I might give it a go.
I have generally avoided reading fan fiction, just so I can pass a lie-detector test if anyone accuses me of ripping off their ideas when it would just be coincidental. One idea mentioned in the first newsletter about the guy flying ok but having trouble landing, for example, is something I came up with a long time ago for my version. Also in my version, Bill Maxwell was retired and teaching at the Academy, but I noticed in one of the few Aiden stories I read, that was Bill's same situation. Therefore I have cut myself off from fan fiction, although I was intrigued by the photos from MsBoku's "Wounds" of the hulked-out Ralph and the white/blue suit that I couldn't help myself but read it. :-)
So just keep in mind that if some of their plots seem familiar, it may not necessarily be a rip-off, but just some other writer thinking along the same lines (specific details and character names notwithstanding). A show like this that is built around the theme of "the everyman getting superpowers and feeling overwhelmed with the sudden responsibility of saving the world" could practically write itself. First there would be the inevitable mistakes of just starting out, whereby the hero contemplates giving up altogether, then a general feeling of cockiness as the hero gets more comfortable with the role, leading to possibly an arc dealing with "suit addiction" or delusions of godhood until someone gets hurt, whiplashing the hero back into humility. Similar plots are bound to crop up out of this situation because they are so obvious and only so many ways a character like this can develop.
As far as risking fan backlash by changing things or ruining the spirit of the series: Unless this show officially airs on a television network, just laugh off anything you don't like or agree with. A purely internet-broadcast series wouldn't be official unless the credits state otherwise and SJC puts his stamp on it. It would just be one fan's interpretation and he/she would have their right do that as much as the rest of us. :-)

That's a great analysis videofox, and thanks for sharking your opinion.
I should clarify something as far as stories and such. Personally, I don't have a problem with similar ideas, as several of us who write fanfiction do write similar ideas (i.e. Lauren's "California Nights" to my "Old Scenario Switcharoo" which both have the suit decide to go over to Pam temporarily). That's going to happen, and as long as it's not exactly the same story (which I've read in other fandoms), I'm cool with it.
However, (and yes, I admit I'm paranoid here), I've been concerned that there's a possibility that something such as Aidan being used in this endeavor. A lot of it is based on rumors (if you can call them that) being sprouted by a brianpanderic, but it's also based on the welcome e-mail the projects doing. Brianpanderic has mentioned it being a heroine ("The Greatest American Heroine at TGAH.com") on other sites and the way they mention answering the question of whatever happended to Tony, Rhonda Ralph, Bill and Pamela also raises some questions to me in that regard. I use Tony regularly given he's Aidan's teammate and Rhonda on occasion. And, when you combine those two with my feeling these guys have never talked to us about the show on this board... I'm just suspicious.
What they should do is at least introduce us to character's names... that would at least take some speculation out of the air. Right now, given they're also a bit secretive about it, I'm just extremely cautious about it.

I understand completely, and I don't blame you for being cautious. Even if the heroine's name isn't Aidan, the possibility of her being related in some way to Ralph and Pam and having Tony for a partner would be cause for concern. I just hope these writers/producers won't be that stupid! Of course, their capacity already comes into question by promising something like this without any details or preview footage to back it up. Since my version is visualized as a fan series, my team is made up of all-new characters, both male, having known each other before the suit came along but drifted apart as they grew older. One of them ends up a government agent (probably not FBI, but a fictional special agency that deals with a multitude of possible plots) and the greenguys team them up, but their outlooks would have diverged over the years, resulting in a clash of personalities similar to the Ralph/Bill dynamic. This way, the stories would have similar themes but at the same time not be just a clone of the original show. That's going to be the trick behind bringing back a show like this: keeping the spirit but housing it in a new body. If that new body happens to be female, so be it; my characters are male just because I am one myself and would find that easier to write. :-) And if I am ever lucky enough to film my own show, I wouldn't want to risk the ignominy of failure by announcing it before I at least had a pilot in the can. You guys wouldn't even *know* about it until it was ready to view. (Unless, of course, some lived close enough to participate in the production of such a show...the best people to work on something like this would be fellow fans!) But I have a sneaking suspicion, based on all the Star Trek fan series websites out there that have talked big but gone nowhere for years, that this tgah.com will still be nothing more than a one-page logo when that counter reaches zero. :-)

All I can say about the ideas: I think it will be hard to reproduce anything in the GAH universe because SJC and company covered a lot of important episodes to date. I think that is why anything without SJC support is probably doomed. Even the fanfiction I have read overall.

TGAH Newsletter 09.01.07
Hello TGAH Fans!
It’s the beginning of the month and here are some things going on with the TGAH 2008 Project.
We have spent all month sitting through auditions and show reels. We are proud to announce that the Cast for the TGAH 2008 series has been chosen!
We will be filming the “Announcement Trailer” on September 14th thru the 20th in Palmdale, California. For those TGAH Fans that would like to attend please feel free to contact us at tgahproject@gmail.com for details and directions. This is a chance to meet the Cast and Crew behind the TGAH 2008 Project.
Since the word about this project has circled the world and many TGAH Fans have been speculating about the TGAH 2008 Project and our intentions, we have attached the transcript of a press interview with the Executive Producer of the TGAH 2008 Project and Inside Look Behind The Scenes Productions.

Phone: (818) 392-8639 Fax: (818) 392-8650 Web: www.tgah.com
=========================================== Inside Look Interview with Executive Producer: Collazo ===========================================
Q: Many fans out there have a lot of questions concerning this TGAH project, are you okay to answer them?
A: Go for it.
Q: Is this a fan-produced film?
A: Yes, this is in fact a fan-produced production; we are not involved with any major studios as of right now. This project is by a staff of TGAH fans, created for the TGAH fans.
Q: What is the rating on this production? It says PG on the website.
A: Since the MPAA is a volunteered rating system and NOT mandatory we simply set our release as PG back when we first started writing.
Q: Will that be changed in the future?
A: Probably, we have been so busy with the production we haven’t really thought about that just yet.
Q: Now fans have noticed that the teardrops on the logo are missing, why is that?
A: That will coincide with the mythology surrounding the symbol that will be revealed in the TGAH 2008 series.
Q: Mythology, that sounds interesting... Will the original theme song be used as the theme song for TGAH 2008, or is there a new theme song being created?
A: Theme song has not been decided as of yet. We tested out some remixes and such but just haven’t been satisfied so we’re going to keep searching. The theme song is very important and we can’t just throw something together especially since the original theme song is a classic and highly remembered. In fact, if you know of anyone that has any original music that they would like us to review tell them to contact us.
Q: How often are the Newsletters released? Please tell me that there is not going to be any spam mail.
A: Haha... nope no spam mail from us what so ever, no worries there. The Newsletters are sent out once a month. Also we are negotiating with you guys (Inside Look) to bring the fans weekly behind the scenes video reports, we think that would also be informative to the fans.
Q: Indeed that sounds cool, I’m sure that we can work that out. Ok so what’s going on between your production and Cannell studios?
A: We are not connected with Cannell or any of Cannell’s affiliations, so nothing is going on between Cannell and TGAH 2008.
Q: I understand Disney has the rights to make a movie, does that affect your production?
A: I don’t know where Disney stands with their movie options, I’ve heard rumors but nothing has been in production. What I do know is our legal stance and boundaries so, to answer your question NO this does not affect our production.
Q: Is the Hero male or female, and who is he/or she?
A: We cannot reveal that info right now, but stay tuned!
Q: Will this be an animated series or live action?
A: Both. We will be releasing a comic book with every episode and all episodes are live action.
Q: Will the series go the traditional Special Effects route that sometimes do more harm than good to a movie?
A: There will be a few special effects elements. Right now we are concentrating on our characters and their developments, don’t get me wrong special effects are cool, but they do not carry a show or movie.
Q: Did you get any ideas for the show from the fans or their web sites?
A: This is the MOST asked question or shall I say the MOST talked about subject on the Internet right now. We did not reach out to all of the TGAH Fans for ideas, volunteers or story-lines. To be completely honest we did not want the same thing to happen this time as it has in the past. People commit to a project with good intentions and really want to help out, then the reality of schedules conflicting with work or vice versa. Next thing you know the project goes stale and eventually nothing ever gets done. To create any film project you really need to be able to meet strict schedules and deadlines.
Q: How is this production being funded?
A: By the little green guys.!... Seriously, that question is really irrelevant but I can say this… everyone’s bills do get paid on time, no one is starving and we are able to have a team of real professionals who know the business and are proud to be working with us on the TGAH 2008 Project.
Q: Speaking of the little green guys... What part will the aliens be playing?
A: Aliens play a big part in this series… Remember they don’t have a home… Yet.
Q: Are you guys going to be showing up on IMDB sometime soon?
A: Unfortunately, IMDB has denied our application. The reviewer’s feel that there’s not enough interest within the fan base. We were asked to re-submit when we have a public performance i.e. Film Festival or Limited Theatrical Release… How can they say that 924,754 TGAH Fans is not enough interest... My personal opinion… I find the whole IMDB to be a joke... but again that’s only my personal opinion.
Q: Why the secrecy surrounding the TGAH 2008 Project?
A: We are not being secretive at all. Let’s face it, reviving life into TGAH has been attempted twice now and all of us Fans were disappointed each time. When the word about our project leaked out somehow before we could make our intentions known to the TGAH Fans, we felt it would be best to stay quiet until we have at least chosen the Cast and finished the web site.
Q: When will you be announcing the cast?
A: The cast has been chosen with much deliberation and many late nights. Their Bio’s and photos will be available on/or before the October Newsletter.
Q: Fans think that you should let out more information about the production, how do you feel about that?
A: It’s a good thing I’m doing this interview huh? Keeping the TGAH Fans informed is our number one priority… But… We want to make sure that all information we give out is solid we don’t want to give out any flakey information. We realize the HUGE anticipation around the world concerning the TGAH 2008 Project and honestly we want to really “Wow” the Fans. So, if we gave too many things away that would take the fun out of it.

Jo, with apologies, I want to make my comments pretty clear here. Inside Look Interview with Executive Producer: Collazo =========================================== Q: Many fans out there have a lot of questions concerning this TGAH project, are you okay to answer them? A: Go for it. Q: Is this a fan-produced film? A: Yes, this is in fact a fan-produced production; we are not involved with any major studios as of right now. This project is by a staff of TGAH fans, created for the TGAH fans. Then why haven't you said anything on this board about the show? I've only read comments on the Yahoo group. I've read rumors about them even having the rating on there in the first place in that they're committing a copyright violation with it. Now, I don't know much about it, so this is rumor, but if true, I'd be highly suspicious of it. I read this as two ways, both dangerous: a. Trying to avoid copyright infraction, but they still technically are in violation of copyright and b. if they are trying to change the mythos, you're going to get fans turned off on said project. Also, why even bother with changing/creating mythos? GAH works because it's involves a wearer trying to do his best to help others and learns stuff along the way about self, and the suit. Unless they manage to make a theme that has ties to the original one, I see changing it about again turning off fans of the show. Only successful adaptations on a theme I've heard in the industry the ones from the Delia Derbyshire version of "Doctor Who." The current version managed to keep both in tact for die-hard fans (ones that started in '63) and drew new fans into the series. Until you guys start naming names and such, I read it as spam. Again, this raises concerns to me, and I have a feeling they're still being as secretive as possible because once they do start putting up things, Cannell's company could decide to pull a cease and desist on them. I think fanfiction hasn't been a problem because more than likely none of those stories will be brought to life (not to say we can't daydream though) and Cannell knows we're not using it for profit. BS pure and simple. Cannell can remove the show if he wanted to, so they are not safe from that possibility. That holds for our stories as well, but again, none of us are turning them into films. OK, I get REALLY paranoid here because I've read two versions of who this is going to be. I've noticed brianpadraic has not commented anywhere on this show in a while. It seems he knows more about the new show that we thought, such as this mythology of this take on the show and who the wearer is. This is my opinion, pure and simple: If the wearer's female, and is either Aidan or a character VERY close to her... they better be ready for me to raise Cain. I have not given permission to use her and I will not. While GAH is Cannell's creation, Aidan's mine so they'd have to ask me. And honestly, they will not have it because I'd rather that character stay in fanfiction unless Cannell himself would like to use her. Wishful thinking sure, but he's the only one whom could do that. I think these guys have been watching "Doctor Who 2005" and beyond because they do the same thing. It's had mixed reactions. Kinda makes me think few things: They're going to do it along the lines of the first season to save money, again they're concerned about copyright, and (paranoia) they're using people's stories, which a majority do not require special effects. Ex. Aidan's pretty much would only require two things: Flying and glowing most of the time. She can't turn invisible (her clothes morph though), which would save some money in effects too. This contradicts what they said in the first newsletter: That they researced the web and such. I also think they're using comments people such as myself and extreme01 have made here and in this analysis. And, the comment about schedules and deadlines, while understandable, reads as condescending as though we don't know what they are. Also (bold my emphasis), "We did not reach out to all of the TGAH Fans for ideas, volunteers or story-lines" ... hmmm, makes you wonder if they're borrowing stories that have been written and published on fanfiction.net and the GAH Fan Fiction Forum to use in this endeavor. Hope you did at least ask people if you could borrow their ideas. Stories that are written online are the person's regardless. You have to ask for permission to use them for something like this. I know they haven't asked me - TigreMalabarista - anyone else? It's perfectly relevant. It will show how serious you are in this project endeavor. And, name names with professionals here, or it's just smoke on the water to most (meaning raises doubt in both cases). Mythos incorrect here. They have a home, it was destroyed - DVS. If they try to find a home, they're changing mythos and if it's Earth, that's going to raise questions among fans. And why make that in an issue in the first place? Leave it a mystery as to why they are in ships and let the show be whomever it is in the suit do what they can to save the world. I smell it bombing if they do anything longterm with the green guys. That's one reason (chasing monsters) why the show didn't last longer than three seasons, and frankly I got very annoyed when the gg's were so all powerful they could make everyone forget about the suit in "Heroine" only if the suit was handed to someone else. Where do they get a number like the above? If it's based on a newsletter signup, they've got to remember every Tom, Rich nad Mary will sign up for any newsletter to get e-mail. And, considering they announced that it'd be on the IMDB site and now are saying it's a joke... I think IMDB smells that there's something off here with the endeavor and is saying no to it. Even independent films have backing with a company, and this group: The red jammies project, does not mention having a backing from a film group. It is also not really a theater company. Since they don't list it, it's not really a movie endeavor yet. Additionally, they've been so secretive about it, I think IMDB smells suspicion and doesn't want to be discredited for putting up something that doesn't work. It has done it, true - and said endeavors have been removed - but they are mostly accurate in what they have there. I think he's pissed because they want the project to give some answers, but they're not. I've noticed that they're quoting something I've said about how many times this project has been attempted. They're at least scouring the buzz about it. And, the interest was hiked up when the site came online. Unless this brianpadraic is a mole and has spoiled some key elements, that's where we got our interest from. Secondly, if you were going to wait until the cast/crew and site were finished, you should've waited to post up the site until you had the cast set. Additionally, I again say the reason they're staying mum right now is not because of us fans, but the concern that Cannell will pull a cease and desist on the endeavor. From experience with reading about the restart of "Doctor Who" you want to have people speculating on who the wearer will be - i.e. gender, etc. - in order to generate interest. What were doing now isn't generating interest, but skepticism and cynicism about the whole endeavor. I still think that there's something fishy going on here, and when the cast is up on the site, then at least we'll know some answers about the suit wearer and such. I think they're going to wow the fans so much that it bombs. If they're serious in informing the fans, they should be giving some teasers. With the fact they're keeping things mum for so long, the suit wearer's gender a secret, and other factors, I think that it's going to bomb unless we get some details very soon. Even with Doctor Who, they announced it was coming back and did some rumor lists of whom was going to be the Doctor/companion to get interest up. I think the only interest they're getting is negative interest because people are highly suspicious of an endeavor that is staying 99.5 percent under wraps right now. And, if there was a huge interest, I think some of the sites here would be getting an increase in memberships - with active postings. I have yet to see that here. In all, I am still skeptical about the endeavor and guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

It seems to confirm that they are at least lurking on these boards and seeing our comments, which is what I was hoping for: it drew them out into the open. I was looking for more information also, but it's possible that interview was written some time back and since the negativity has continued it may prompt them to reveal a few more of their "secrets" very soon. I have pondered what the meaning of the symbol could possibly be (such as their first design of starship, or maybe based on an ancient double-bladed hand weapon, but with the aliens' apparent pacifistic nature, that seems unlikely) but to tell you the truth, I don't *want* to know. I like the mystery behind the aliens and their culture. I believe that their intentions could be just as simple as they appear to be: they screwed up and destroyed their own world, forced to live on starships, and decided to help other planets prevent the same fate without revealing themselves and possibly altering their natural development, kinda like a simplistic version of the Prime Directive: give humans the power to save their own planet without having to rely on (official) extraterrestrial help. I would not have a problem, though, if there was a faction of greenguys who don't agree with that policy and would rather take over a new world as their own, similar to what MsBoku had in her fanfic, but shouldn't be a regular occurrence. Perhaps they would create their own power suit and give it to a psycho, but that should probably be only a limited arc as it would reveal way too much about the greenguys. If there was some kind of civil unrest going on up there, the "good" aliens would want to keep us humans out of it as much as possible. Based on the DVD interviews, it seems that even SJC and his staff never thought up an official explanation for the suit's symbol, so why should it matter to us? It's alien and far beyond our comprehension. It could also lead to good scenes with the characters as *they* try to figure it all out. In fact, one good element would be the hero pondering the possibility that the aliens are just testing him and plan to eventually use him as a weapon. That would not be true, of course, but the thought might cross the hero's mind *because* they don't know any details about the greenguys. All this not knowing anything about the aliens, to me, could be a good device to explore the human characters of this show, which is what the original series focused on. I loved it in "The Shock Will Kill You" that Ralph spent the entire episode *scared to death* of fighting an extraterrestrial jello monster because he wasn't sure if the suit could handle it!

I tend to agree with videofox it seems that they are lurking within our boards and are trying to keep us informed via newsletters (that's a brownie point in my book). I read the newsletter and did not get the impression that they are hidding anything. I got the impression that they did not want to disappoint all of us. Videofox said it well in the last post we keep bashing these guys (with good reason no doubt) instead of being positive about it. S*!@t I live here in California and Palmdale is only 40 minutes away I think I am going to go and check out this filming and see what's up. If I like what I see then they have my full support if not then there will be HELL TO PAY!

"B" B, the only reason I do think these guys are secretive is that they are hiding somethings because they know they're going to irk someone, be it a fanfic writer or SJC himself. And, both can tell YouTube to remove a video if they feel it violates copyright (fanfic writer's ideas are their own. SJC has rights to the characters, save Aidan). And, the tone of this interview IMHO is very patronizing to me. If you do get to go to Palmdale, please do give us a report. This worked - positively and negatively - for Doctor Who, so any bit helps out. Doctor Who had some secrets, but not many during the first filming of the show - and those were hit and miss as far as fan favorites.

All productions are "secretive" until post-production so I don't think it's a copyright thing. I mean hell ironman just finished filming and no matter how much the fans want to know what the story is going to be about the studio is not saying much. I am going reserve judgement until I get back from Palmdale if there is any "BS" about it both you and me are going to make this project's life a living hell. "B"
