Are you kidding? That boom mike shaddow is an original cast member; seen for sure in the school bathroom with Culp and Katt in the pilot and I'm pretty sure also in the roadside diner where they first meet.

Haha! Yes, I imagine it should have been listed as one of the cast members.

I can vaguely recall the Divorce VS episode when Pam enters the room simulating hotdogs delivery but I think that just before or after that Mr Mic was present during the Nazis' talk

I think this is referring to the episode "200 mile Fastball" when the Manager gets kidnapped and Ralph gets a holograph off of the hot dog one of the goons dropped.

GAH is a relatively "sloppy" show -- there's lots of boom mike shadows, sound effects that don't match up with what we're seeing, footage reused in multiple episodeds (some being reused in the same episode)....I like to think of it as part of the show's raffish charm!

I agree JimK, I have seen them use the same footage of Ralph crashing, and taking off and landing over a fence.. that footage is from the pilot, filmed at the front gate of Sisters of the Immaculate Heart.

dunno if this is a blooper or not... but I was watching 'Fireman' the other day and noticed that when Ralph goes to the car dealer to get Tony's Repo papers, they say Ralph Hinkley on them. Now, I recall him being called Hanley in that show and the others in that season. Hmmm....?

That's most likely an accident on the video transfer and not on the filming of the movie. Often, they matt out the image in the theatre to create a widescreen 'effect'. BUT, when whoever is responsible for the video transfer comes along, rather than do things they 'right way', they simply expose the entire 35mm frame, which then uncovers things (boom mikes, etc.) that were included in the frame on purpose by the director but were never intended to be seen by the audience.
Same thing happened with Pee Wee's Big Adventure. A lot of the 'tricks' used during filming (Pee Wee pulling the 10000 feet of chain out of his bike when locking it up) were ruined by the original video transfer because they didn't frame it right. You could see the whole in the bottom of the bike and even the bag the chain was coming out of! This was 'corrected' in the most recent DVD transfer - proper framing restored.

Interesting, I didn't know that!
One thing for sure: the Mic guy in Amityville 6 (1992) "it's about time' was not victim of a bad re-framing as there is a scene in the hospital where he is reflected in the glass with the boom mic and the viewer has that strong feeling of assisting to a behind-the-scenes rehearsal because of his overall presence. So it's now hard to tell when a low budgeted crew is at times unprofessional (or just suffering from shoulders fatigue in the case of a mic-guy) or when the AV technicians do not double check the result of their reframing job. I however try not to pay attention to it as it could spoil an intense or important moment of the film. On the other hand, like in the case of PeeWee I would look out instead for anything that could help to understand those tricks better.
