I agree that hurting the series because people loved the cast. A more honorable way was for the greenguys to realize that Pam and Ralph were going to be raising Kevin and that their hearts might not be in it and so he needed to find a replacement...I don't think anyone would have hated that.

That would have made a whole lot more sense, in my opinion. It certainly would've left a better impression of who Ralph really was to those who might've only seen the "GAHeroine" pilot. I have a similar idea (but different) in mind for my AU story, but it's not exact. I'm going to have to do a rough draft of ideas though b/c it's getting a bit confusing. (And so I'll have them ready when I start writing individual stories again).

They should have given Pam the suit. And interviews I've read with Sellecca sounded like she was up for the idea too. Oh, the potential...

I imagine she was, but wasn't that during the HOTEL period? I think it might have been a contractual problem. If so, they should have waited until Connie was free.

I imagine she was, but wasn't that during the HOTEL period? I think it might have been a contractual problem. If so, they should have waited until Connie was free. To my knowledge it was, and as such, she couldn't do it. Katt was in Perry Mason at the time, so I think Culp was the only original actor available. I do think Connie would've been great wearing the suit too as Pam. That's why writing "The 'Ole Scenario Switcharoo" was so much fun. There was too much potential lost there when Connie couldn't do it and in the attempt to continue the new wearer was miscast. Still, on the plus side, "GAHeroine" allows those of us who write fanfics the chance to use the story in two different ways. One, there can be a continuation of the Bill and Holly team where she essentially grows up. The second, and mostly because of the way it was filmed, people can use it to write it off as a dream. There are two fanfics, both being currently written by Ms B (who has part of hers posted on fanfiction.net and myself (which I won't post until complete), that use one of these two scenarios. I will not say who's doing what scenario as it's more fun to read the stories.

After all these years, I just saw this pilot again. The first time I saw it - in syndication - I blocked it out of my long term memory. It was that forgetable. Now seeing it again, it's like a bad dream, coming back for more.
It's painful. It stings, like a shot in the arm.
I personally would like to have seen him paired up with someone a bit tougher, smarter and a bit harder. I mean, if he is paired up with a dame, give her shoulder pads a mile wide, cutting wit, and an attitude to put him in his place. A skirt who wears the pants.
The best part of the show, in my opinion, was the banter between Ralph and Maxwell. Bill won't butt heads against no chickie. He needs to go head to head with a tough broad...
But that's just the way I see it...

But that's just the way I see it... Totally agree with you. "Scenario's" a pretty good story as far as Pam wearing the suit. She doesn't let Bill tell her what to do. Now, I have almost finished a fanfic where Ralph and Pam have a daughter who gets the suit. She's not Holly or "I'm 'lil miss perfect," she's a bit more of the type to dress down her partner (who isn't Bill, BTW). And, like Ralph, she has problems in the suit (one pretty serious (and for the story only), the other big one is funny). Holly appears in the story, but just the way I watch GAHeroine, as a dream Bill has. Watching the ep it reads that way. So, hence my comment about it having potential for fanfics.

Some time I would like to steal some time and write some fan fic. I think when I was a kid, I used to hand in fan fic for class projects. My teachers finally had enough and banned me from doing it.
I would actually love to find my old box of grammar school stuff in my parents attic, see if there is anything funny in there... written 25 years ago, from a kid's POV.

I would actually love to find my old box of grammar school stuff in my parents attic, see if there is anything funny in there... written 25 years ago, from a kid's POV. I did that once for "Star Trek," but it was a creative writing project. Even wrote a miniscript in third-grade for the show "Ghostbusters," but this version were three named Jake, Eddie and Tracey (a gorilla). From what I remember, it was a silly story (but so were the ghosts, like Bratarat and Scared Stiff). We have a list of fanfictions in the fanfics thread in the Media/Web coverage folder. A lot of us post fanfics on the fanfiction.net board. I'm TigreMalabarista there, but there are many good stories there of pretty much all styles of writing. Hope you enjoy reading them.
