Since a TGAH Con is probably not a real feasable idea... I vote that the next time a convention with Katt or Culp or Cannell happens in your state, that all the members in (or very near) that state make a concerted effort to attend on a certain day around a certain time, so that we can get group shots with the stars, and so members can socialize over coffee or whatnot afterwards. Perhaps we can even find an internet cafe nearby so that others from out of state can chat with those in attendance, which may be especially beneficial to those who don't live near LA or NY and rarely get the chance to meet celebs. What do you think? Feedback? Or are we all too antisocial for this? If there is enough excitement about this idea, perhaps we can even make something happen by using billswoman's idea of getting a separate TGAH room at an existing con, and inviting the cast and crew to guest. Members could even fly in for that...

HEY! That's SEATTLE!! Home of the main campus of the University of Washington, Robert Culp's own alma mater!
Okay, "left coast" works too, but it's a LOONNNNGGGGGG coast! (Oh yeah, and RC is left coast as well. Heh.)

Who's in MS? (That's Mississippi btw... did you mean MA -- Massachusetts?)
MyTatuo sez: Thank you, H! That's two of my flubs you've caught today! Apparently my karma is coming back to haunt me from correcting Mona over on Culpalicious. I'm gonna stop posting now...

Probably MA, as Lauren's from there.
I think that this would work, especially if they have one near where I live. It'd be neat to have those of us who could come attend and such. Now, in Texas, there really aren't many coffeehouses near the convention centers or civic centers (where I live, it's on the plaza, which is about a quarter-mile away from the center. However, there is an oyster bar closer to it), but more than likely restaurants and such.

I'm still determined I'm going to have that GAH-themed room party, probably at Norwescon, the bigger of the two cons I'm going to (January and April, respectively). I KNOW I'll have a room at NWC, not too sure yet about Rustycon. I may just hop the bus home each night like I did before (it's nice having both cons literally up the road from me). My plans earlier this year were begun too close to the con, and I didn't have enough prep time. This time, I'll do it up right. And advertise! I'll probably hold it earlier in the evening, so I'm not competing with the HUGE room parties that have the alkyhol and dancing thrown in... you know, something fun the under-21 crowd can join in on (meaning no booze, lol!) Maybe it'll be a great opportunity to introduce the new generation to the wonders of Bill and Ralph (okay, I had to put Bill first, but the Homeys will be equally represented at my party, never fear!) If any of you have ever considered visiting the Seattle area, won't you consider doing so during Norwescon? It's always over Easter weekend. The hotel is literally within walking distance of Sea-Tac airport (a comfortable walk, too... just cross the street, walk about one big city block, and you're there, luggage and all!) That time of year is wonderful, too; there have been far more NWCs that were gorgeous, sunny and mild than rainy. I love to play tour guide for folks visiting our Emerald City (when you're surrounded by woods, mountains and water, it's VERY green!) I usually get a four person room, even if I don't need it (they all cost the same, why not get bigger?) so you'd have crash space. The reason I'm pushing this is that Norwescon is hitting the big 3-Oh next year! It's the biggest regional con in North America (fan-run con, that is, not one of these commercial jobbers). Many professionals come to it, whether as official guests or not. As silverhammer observed, it's more of a literary con than not (I never knew there was a difference, not having been to any other type apparently). You can learn more at the NWC LJ community, under "norwescon," or www.norwescon.org/ It's run by NWSFS (pronounced "Nizz-fizz"), the regional SF/F club that's been around since well before I moved here in 1978.

Well, it depends if Connie's been invited to one. Most of the time the guests are invited to participate. In all honesty, she might not have been invited to these conventions because the organizers don't think she's well-known enough or popular enough to appear. (Yes, potentially dumb reason, but it is a possibility.) Personally, I think it'd be cool to see her and Katt or all three at a convention one time too for a signing. All three were important to making the series as strong as it was. Afterall, Cannell worked around her pregnancy doing every possible cheat to hide it because he wanted to keep the cast the same. That shows how well the three clicked on screen.

That shows how well the three clicked on screen. Being a literary con, they focus on official guests of honor who have something to do with the writing world, either fiction or not (eg, they added Science GoH many years ago). I've never seen a TV or movie celeb as any type of GoH, but I think they appear. Anglicon, on the other hand (dedicated to British media), has had celebs. I met Craig Charles (Dave Lister from "Red Dwarf"), when he gave a panel. He was lovely and gracious, even though he was suffering from the American version of Monteczuma's Revenge (what do we call it, any way?) Poor guy was pale as a ghost. If Connie, or any of the GAH cast, is a sci-fi fan, maybe she'll make her way up here. On a side note, such things happen. Leonard Nimoy, one year, was in Vancouver, BC, and heard there was a sci-fi con going on just south of the border, at WWU in Bellingham. Out of the blue, he showed up. The con-com was aghast and delighted, because he offered to sit in on some panels, gratis. What a guy. Unfortunately, I wasn't there, but my college friends were. They had a good time rubbing it in, the creeps.

Wait a second: Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Illinois... there's four states, so the other three are divided into one per state? Wow... but, sometimes I wonder if Texas will be dumb enough to divide into 5 states (which it can), then we'd really get confused.

Not all that close, but GAH Noir makes relatively frequent trips to Boston.
We could meet on the MASS Turnpike, at one of the rest stops. You wear your suit. I'll be Bill. We'll see who gets it...
At least it'll give me an excuse to say "Face down and spread 'em!" in public.

You know, a few months ago, I had a dream that I met the three other mods and a few others at my college alma mater (I had been thinking about the university.) It actually was pretty neat and I think that someday this might happen where all of us meet at one location and get to chat about the show and such. (Also, irony... this dream was about two days before MyTatuo called me at work in the shortest conversation he ever has known me to speak. )
