Yes I am MAD about the 'hacking' of GAH on these DVD's. But hey. Cannell did give us GAH to begin with. I have enjoyed venting at his expense. But I only thought it fair to start this thread. Please no bashing here. Just positive (you never know who's watching )

Not before, nor since has there been a show like it. Incredibly well written and acted. That they played it so seriously, is what makes it work. As I've said before: "A-Team" is a straightforward concept executed in an outlandish manner, "GAH" is an outlandish concept executed in a straightforward manner. Had Cannell not had the absolute brilliance to criss-cross concept and execution on both of those series...would anyone even remember them today? Would they even have run for more than one season each?
The DVDs: Can you guys believe the picture quality? The clarity, the sharpness, the colors...I've never seen GAH like this. My TV and cable connection wouldn't support it even assuming it was broadcast that way; and I had nothing then (or now) that can make a recording of that quality, even if I could receive it.
...and call me an old-fashioned, nostalgic, fuddy-duddy; but I'm enjoying the hell out of the old-school ending credits (with no voice-over commercials, to boot).

He dominated the '80s with all those great shows you can't find as good nowadays. Great creativity in writing successful scripts scenarios, his shows had some of the best song themes still remembered, the viewer was emotionally involved in the episodes.

While we're at it, "Stingray" was really, really cool.
And "J.J. Starbuck" was cool, too...actually, now that I think about it, they were the exact same show, except J.J. Starbuck was older and drove a different car.
This still falls under the heading of Cannell Appreciation, 'cause I'll watch variations on the classics all day long.

I have always been a big fan of SJC's work...especially the A-Team and GAH. The ideas were original and even if you have not seen some in years, you can always remember certain elements...especially about the wonderful characters he depicted...especially in GAH and the A-Team.
