Looking for a replica of the GAH belt buckle. Anyone have any info? I've found some pictures, but, I'm not the handiest guy on the planet. *chuckles*
email me at hall442@yahoo.com! Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hall, sorry, but that seems to be one of the hardest things to find. Most people on this board that have a suit or made a suit...they tend to have to make one as best they can. Lauren, videofox, MyTatuo...I think they have all made one. You might see how they did it if you PM them...I don't know if everyone reads this thread.

I don't have the specific links in front of me, but you might try the Dewback prop replica forum, or maybe the RPF prop replica forum to see if anyone has any for sell. I've seen several replicas molded from the original buckle.

How does he sneak on when I am on here all day? That is creepy...even for a greenguy. Good advice though.

I went to the fabric store for the material.

Using silver and black FIMO clay would also work if you make it. You can buy that at Wal-Mart, though Hobby Lobby is usually the best bet for silver. Then, just look at a photo of the buckle to make the design. It looks to be about 2-1/2 to 3 inches in diameter (I'm not sure if accurate). Once you mold it, you can make the backing for it and fire it in a regular oven.

Bought mine on eBay. I believe it's resin.

Maybe I will out source my suit making needs. Get someone to make me a replica somehow and do none of the work myself...now where did I leave that number for that factory in Malaysia?

I plan on possibly making a suit from scratch for a fair project, but that depends on whether I can get a sewing machine or not. Also depends on the price of material. If all else fails, I can make one piecemeal with a longsleeved shirt, etc., and use another iron-on for the emblem.

If you want, I will pay for my material and you can make mine too.

It was a pain for me so I have to go to the fabric store and find the matching color (not easy btw but I got lucky) and make the pants form scratch.

Had THAT fun with my red sneakers and socks for the variety show. I originally had a longsleeved shirt to wear under my T-shirt for the variety show, but it was the wrong red. (but, it also ended up being hot, so didn't matter). As far as material, I'd make sure that I got the material for the shirt, pants and spats from the same bolt. That way, they can't be mismatched. Plus, I'm 5'7", so there should be enough of the bolt to fit me. If not, bring a swatch to another store and get the same color.

you bought the belt on ebay or the whole suit? Just the buckle from eBay. I already had the boots, so I bought the shirt & pants off Amazon.com & fabric to make the cape. The shirt & pants aren't the same red, but seem to be only a shade or two off. Depending on the lighting, they actually could look the same.

I found a resin belt buckle replica (probably the same one Lauren found) on eBay that is just the emblem and would need to be modified to use as a real buckle, or you could just velcro it onto the belt. However after buying that one, I found a machine-metal replica that some fan made that has the buckle clasp and everything ready to go. Both of these pop up from time to time but I haven't seen one in a while. If you really want the red shirt and pants to match but can't make it from scratch, be prepared to spend...I found a set of athletic thermal underwear called UnderArmour in red (barely...it's apparently been discontinued) that is expensive, but for a guy like me who can't sew, it was worth it. It's only 10 or 20 percent spandex, and wasn't shiny or paper thin like a full-spandex bodysuit would be. It resulted in a near-perfect replica of the suit, right down to the seams running down the outside of the legs. If you didn't see it the first time I posted about it back around Halloween, you can see pictures here: tgah.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=show&action=display&thread=1130685811Several posts down I added some larger pictures and more detail how the suit was made...but be warned, it cost what for me would be a small fortune...I shouldn't have, but I couldn't help it--the opportunity was there.
