Just wondering if anyone here has ever attempted a GAH costume? I'd Like to but I can find a big enough pic of the chest emblem. Can anyone help?

I had my mom make my one back in '82 to wear at conventions. It actually came out very good. I still have it though its way too small now for me.
I was made from a thin, red long sleeve shirt, the emblem was mostly felt, the belt buckle was a button I had stuck on a GAH emblem. It had the grey trim on the sleeves and the collar. The cape was a Dracula halloween cape my mom sewed red trim around. The pants I think were red long underwear with red slippers sewn on the ends. It wasn't perfect, but for me it was great. I used to wear it under my clothes like Raplh did.

Wow. I've always wanted a GAH costume! hee hee...I'd like to have one now. I feel compelled to put it on and go strolling down the street. That'd be fun to wear the suit under your clothes... Hey and the show took place in CA. How did that work in the summer? the suit wouldn't work well under shorts.

I've tried wearing the suit under clothes...and is it HOT. The comfort factor is more than likely why the costume dept. finally made Katt a sort of underoos style of tunic to wear under his shirt, when it was supposed to appear that he had the costume on while wearing his street duds.

Anyone who needs a decent, large pic of the emblem can e-mail me at thejman@usa.com. I can e-mail it to you, then you can print it out on a Dark Fabric Iron-on Transfer (the color of the shirt would show through the white parts, otherwise).

Someone made a good point before... where exactly does Ralph hide that cape and (even more worrysome) those 'shoes' under his everyday teacher outfit?

If you aren't wearing skin tight shirt & pants, it is possible to tuck the cape inside without it looking bulky. The suits shoes however are a different story, that's hollywood magic.

if i did one i prob wouldnt get past red sweats and a dracula cape ;D That's why my Halloween costume wasn't just The Greatest American Hero, but specifically The Greatest American Hero Wearing The Suit Under His Street Clothes: absolute minimal cost and effort on my part.
