Just a little ficlet I put together. It was going to be a drabble but I didn't feel like counting words. www.fanfiction.net/s/2557139/1/A review on FF.net would rock, thanks!

I just read your ficlet, and it was good. When I first looked at it, I had an idea what it was based on, but the conclusion confirmed it. Great way to tie in the shows through a character's past.

Well, by popular demand from both my GAH and MASH readers and online buddies, I've continued this story. It'll span Winter to Summer, 1953, as Bill first meets the infamous Colonel Flagg (if you don't know MASH, he's a gung-ho CIA Colonel that hates commies as much as Bill does), then later works on a mission for Flagg, that'll involve some of the 4077th personnel. I just reposted it to the MASH side of FF.net, and have added Chapter Two: www.fanfiction.net/s/2557139/2/After it's been on the MASH side for a time, I'm moving it back to GAH to share the joy. A read & review, via FF.net, would totally rock. Thanks! (More coming soon, I'm on a roll....)

I am not a MASH person either...it is hard to keep up with your cross-overs.

Oh yes, Col. Flagg. The same actor (Edward Winter) appeared in GAH as the record compay president in "Classical Gas". Sorry, forgot his character's name name...I'm at work.

Good point, I hadn't thought to point that out, in case some GAH fans didn't know who he was. Charlie Wildmann ("two N's" -- Bill), if I recall. Two VERY different characters, which is a testament to what a good character actor Edward Winter is.
Wildmann is just a little too smoothe and slimy, IMO... I much prefer Flagg, who (if nothing else) sure doesn't mince words with what's on his mind, lol!
It's funny getting into this, to see the similarities Flagg and Maxwell share, primarily how they're both so gung-ho patriotic Americans, and they both hate commies more than just about anything else. Flagg's got an evil streak that Bill certainly doesn't, although I know Bill's not squeamish by any stretch. Eg, Flagg has the doctors fix a North Korean patient up, just so the patient can be summarily executed in Seoul... I can't quite see Bill doing that. Now, getting into a firefight in defense of his country, sure, we've seen Bill do that often enough.
(Just so you know, in case you don't recall that MASH ep, the doctors sneaked the patient out, and put Corporal Klinger in the ambulance in his place, lol!)

Yup...won't understand most of it not knowing MASH.

Here's the latest, Chapter Three: www.fanfiction.net/s/2557139/3/Reviews via FF.net would rule. I'm hoping to finish this by Sunday evening, so stay tuned, or better yet, mark it for story alerts. Margaret Houlihan is finding herself more fascinated with the young Sergeant Maxwell, a bit more than she should. And Charles doesn't like it. (Just so you don't think this is too OOC, remember Margaret had a fling with an Army Sergeant in the show, Sgt. Scully. So it's not too farfetched.) Oh yeah, Colonel Flagg meets Bill Maxwell too.

I'm not sure if the link changes, but I've moved this story over to the MASH side of fanfiction.net. This new link should work: www.fanfiction.net/s/2557139/1/I've got four chapters, setting it up for later in the summer, when Bill and Margaret run into one another once again. A review would rule. Bill may seem a little OOC, however, but remember, this is 30 years prior to GAH. He's changed over the years, obviously. To tell you the truth, the Bill I'm depicting is sort of a blend between him and Kelly Robinson, especially in appearance (Kelly, if you recall, was tall & slender... Culp is 6'2" after all.)

Thank you, thank you, MrsM! My quest to finish the story by Sunday evening obviously didn't work. This may shape up to be of almost-epic proportions, since the first four chapters were merely setting the stage for what's to come in their Summer, 1953 (little realizing the "war" is going to be over the following month, of course.)
Poised and ready to start Chapter Five, so stay tuned if you're interested.

Is it just me, or is Bill wearing Hawkeye's robe? I know the screen cap is small, but the robe has writing on it..."MD USA" Go figure.

LOL, I think you're right!
Oh, and speaking of this story... it's on hiatus until at least December 1st. I'm too focused on other stuff, including my "Lilacs IV" for NaNoWriMo in November, to do "Best Care Anywhere" justice. It's got some great potential, and I'm simply not up to working it.
I've already got several scenes for "Lilacs IV" working through my wee brain and can't WAIT to write them!! As some of you may've noticed, I've been asking questions and posting information about stuff, which I'm going to incorporate into the story (eg, Bill knowing martial arts, or at least karate like Culp knows... that's going to be a great scene, if I can pull it off right -- not knowing martial arts myself!)

Bump.
I hate to keep looking for this thread. Is there a problem with the site? I can't read past chapter1.

I'm guessing it's a problem with the site? I just tried to check it out and all I get is:

Here's the link again: www.fanfiction.net/s/2557139/1/It may've been my changing it from the GAH side to the MASH side, but I thought it kept the same URL. Perhaps not. I put it on the MASH side because I'm a staff member of the C2 for Charles, and I couldn't put it in the C2 if it wasn't under MASH.

Just a little note: I've decided I'm going to get this one done ASAP, seeing as I start a job on the 21st and I want to wrap my works-in-progress up beforehand. If you mark it for story alerts, you'll get email notification when I update it.
Not entirely sure how the story's going to turn till my Muse tells me, but it oughta be interesting. I hope.

Thank you, thank you. Getting excited, yeah! Chicago then one more week as a bum (guilt-free this time, now that I've been able to give sis money and I've got a job!) so my long long unplanned vacation is almost over. Darn, now I'm going to have to get a real bedtime again! Mergatroyd! Fortunately, there's a commuter bus that stops right at the top of our complex driveway!
Wow, I've got a life... imagine that!

Are you going to do anything in Chicago or just bum around? We could meet up if you have free time when I do.
