I've written them all, and I can write this one in all of these ratings as well. Enquiring minds (meaning mine) want to know, though, what the GAH masses would prefer. I'll actually gear the story to which rating gets the most votes. Leave a comment or not, on how you voted, that's okay. I've got the plot in mind (and yes, it HAS a plot....) that just came to me and it's very believeable in how it'll be set up, sans Ralph (of course). Even if it gets a MA rating, it won't be just PWP ("porn without plot"). I'm planning on doing it in a one-shot. The rating system is from fictionratings.com, where I have a free end-user license to use their rating system on my fics. Bill & Pam: meant to be? (Additional: We KNOW why you're wearing those aviators, Bill! Eyes forward, soldier!)

I have two answers, but I don't know how you're going to base it. If it's within the show continuity (like Ralph's in the hospital, and the other two are alone on an assignment), I'd keep it a lower rating (T or low M max) because Ralph and Pam still are together in the long run. Now, if Ralph has never been in the picture, ie AU or Bill and Pam met earlier in their lives, it could be higher up.

Good observations, thanks for the input. The timeframe I'm looking at is soon after "Best Desk Scenario," actually. I'm going to go look over the episode guide, showing airdate order (not that silly order on the DVDs) and see if that inspires me for something. I'm trying my best to keep this NOT alternate universe; I'm going to be skating a thin line for Bill's characterization, so I may even mention a few scenes from episodes proving why he'd be acting the way he's going to be acting (rather surprising, really, but still in-character I feel). Darn, now I've gotta get started while it's still fresh in my mind. I need to re-watch the flirting scene in "Hit Car" and oddly enough, a few things from "Lost Diablo," so I'm sure Bill's remaining Bill. Oh, and Pam too, but she'll be easy to depict in this scenario

I can't see Pam cheating on Ralph while he's sick or injured. I think Ralph would have to be out of town at a teacher's convention (Las Vegas maybe?) Pam gets jealous that he's having such a ball in Sin City. Meanwhile Bill needs legal help because of a problem at the bureau. (Perhaps he loses his badge for insubordination or something like that.) The two, feeling lonely, dejected, etc....well get together.
How does that sound billswoman?

Actually, MrsM, the idea of him being at a teachers' conference in Vegas might work out. Do you mind if I incorporate that into the story? It'd make it even more believeable, actually. I'd already had in mind how and why Pam and Bill would be working on something, without Ralph, but your suggestion would make it even better, with the jealousy angle. 'Cause we KNOW how jealous Pam gets (for some reason I still can't fathom). I'll certainly credit you with the idea too! You just saved me a bit of a hassle on making it plausible, not AU.

Actually, when I was refering to Ralph being injured or sick, it was more along the lines of basing the rating. If it was used, I thought more along the lines that they were going undercover in some scenario and during the course of events Ralph was injured, so Pam had to take over as the other half. But, your idea is a lot better. Look forward to reading the story billswoman.

You know what would have been cool! If Ralph discovered a power that makes a person attracted to another person, and ACCIDENTALLY put some sort of 'spell' on Pam that made her incredibly attracted to Bill! I think it would work better if Pam was attracted to Bill as opposed to the other way around - more comic possibilities. Thoughts?

Funny you should mention Pam attracted to Bill... that's how this is going to pan out. I just worked out the story outline, from opening sequence to closing line, and I'm rarin' to go.
And guess what? It's NOT going to be a one-shot... or at least, not one single "chapter," maybe I'll get it all written today and tonight, now that the outline's done. I just have to piece it together.
So far, unless my Muse tells me otherwise, I'm going with a T 13+ rating on this. It doesn't have to be TOO detailed; we Bill fans know what a handsome hunk he is, and you Pam fans know what a gorgeous gal she is.
'Course, I could have TWO endings/scenes, as I've done before, heh. One T rated, the other MA rated, muwhahahahahaha!! "It" doesn't happen till toward the end, it's going to have quite a bit of build-up (I mean, let's face it, I doubt seriously they'd jump on one another the instant Ralph's not around)
Hmmm, now that I think about it, I think I will do that, and have a link to the site that'll contain the ending if someone wants to stop on FF.net and head over to the ADULT fan fiction site I use as well.
That way, people can choose 13+ or 18+, depending.

Oh come on...you know what I voted. Pam was too good for either of them. LOL, of course I know, and of course she's too good for either of them, no argument there. I often wonder what she's doing with Ralph. Only thing I can think of: her small-town upbringing makes her want a kind, sweet, down-to-earth (literally) kinda guy, attorney or not. Pam sort of spans both worlds: Minnesota and California, small-town girl and big-city attorney. HD, I know you prefer to wait till the story is complete, but others may want to go to the thread I started Bill & Pam: To the Wild Country, and get started. Chapters one and two are up. A review via FF.net would rock, so all can see what you think of my wonderful, incredible, marvelous story. Yea, adjectives.

Did you ever wonder why Pam is sitting next to Bill instead of Ralph?

Hey, I just wrote a segment where she's giving Bill "that look," how'd you know?
It's weird, it's bizarre, but this story just took a rather amusing turn... and I hadn't even planned it! I just re-read it, and it works too. You'll see, muwhahahahahaha!
Hey, you've got the Connie-partly-covered-by-a-plant image, how about the one where the plant is so discretely covering Robert Culp? MrsM knows the one I'm thinking of, wink wink! (From Devil and the Deep blue sea).
Whew, back to my story. Taking a "GAH board to see who's been posting what" break.

$hit, billswoman! Just make it rated X already! But with a good dialogue and storyline too. [sarcasm] (Said like Bugs Bunny in the bullfighting ring) Ah, me public! You asked for it! Ooh yeah, baby... can't wait to write THAT scene. I'm doing the T-rated scene first, which is actually more difficult, not easier, for me. Details, baby, I want DETAILS! It's times like this that I LOVE being able to visualize so well! Esp. anything involving Robert Culp. I'm swooning already.

LOL I use both hands, baby! I've used them so much that the little tabs on the F and J keys have worn out OK, I'm going to start "those chapters" tonight.... after I re-read the two chapters for the T-rated, to see what's up.
