I was watching GAH's mention on the original I Love the 80s the other day again. The first one from 2002. You know what struck me about it? The general warmth people seemed to have to the show. Here are a group of comedians that laugh at nearly everything regarding 70s, 80s & 90s pop culture and ruthelessly pick it apart. But then when we see Ralph in the jammies taking his three steps and launching into the air Michael Ian Black, Hal Sparks, and Joel Stein all talked about how much they loved The Greatest American Hero. "I adored The Greatest American Hero" profuses Black, "First off great show!" proclaims Hal Sparks, and then Joel Stein chirps in with "The story line is brilliant! Get ready..." I mean it was nothing but positive sentiment, well the guy who played Mr. Belding on Saved by the Bell seemed to get his little dig in about the theme song lasting longer then the show, but otherwise people seemed to really love it. I've watched all the "I Love [insert decade]" shows, and I think GAH's spot was the only time so many of the commenators had a genuine agreement about how good something was, and they weren't being sarcastic or funny. Speaks volumes doesn't it? -scenario-

I was positively impressed when I first was it way back when. First of all, they dedicated a solid 90 seconds to "GAH". When you consider that they have a maximum of 45 minutes after commercials to cover the entire year (movies, music, fashion, toys, technology, etc), it was cool that they even mentioned "GAH", much more so that they gave the show it's props and didn't dis it the way so many other things on that series were, and the way "GAH" has so unfairly been dissed historically.

Agreed. I rewatched that spot not too long ago & was amazed that it hadn't been ripped like everything else was. And that was awesome.

Refresh our collective memory. Who did he play?

Refresh our collective memory. Who did he play? He's credited at the end of the episode as Trigg. Anyway, he's one of the guys in the Beller Air van, the passenger. After they drive up on the disguised hi-jackers, he's the one that runs back to the van for the first-aid kit.

I try not to go on ad nauseum about GAH and esp. Bill Maxwell at work, but sometimes I mention it in passing. Case in point: this past Thursday, I begged off on cake and punch because I was waiting till the viewing party of DVS, so I told my coworkers why, when they asked. Plus I'm on a diet, lol. It was a farewell reception for someone, and I was one of the only ones not eating cake and drinking punch. I mentioned the viewing, and some asked, What are you watching? So I told them Greatest American Hero, the episode that I think is the best of all. They all went, OH, THAT show! I loved that show!
Some chuckled though when I confessed to being a Maxwell Maniac, lol.
