Taking a timeout from our wacky caption round we're having tonight. I found this on YouTube. I'm guessing this is the original music video for Believe it or Not by Joey Scarbury. Nothing against the show itself or the music, the video could have been better. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xESD14mEslc

That was cool, Claye. I haven't seen the entirety of the video, so it was neat to see it. One of the few great TV themes around. This version of the theme is the one I did a juggling routine to back in January. It was a lot of fun, as I kept the spirit of the show in it. (Though I wish I didn't 'crash' (fall) that second time. I do one as part of the act, second wasn't and I was sore for a few days. )

Remember, this was the early 80s...

Early 80s. You have a point there.

That is retarded. Early 80s or not, that was horrible. The words were coming out of his mouth when his mouth was not moving. He was the first Ashlee Simpson. Plus, the video was horrible. They could have done a lot better...in fact, they DID a lot better...watch the opening credits of the TV show and you can see how well they did. The only thing I DID like about the video was the length...I like that it was longer and had a few extra lines that you never hear otherwise. Bad video overall.

I think the bad synchronizing was possibly YouTube's fault. Other video clips on that site have the same problem. Like my "It's Horrible!" ytmnd.com clip. Hehehe My problem with the video, did we really need the clips of the pushover reactions from the ladies? Atleast they had clips from the show to fill in most of it.

It's out of sync courtesy of the site. I've seen a shorter version elsewhere and it does match. I agree with the pushover reaction with the ladies, as there's no reason to react that way (i.e. no interaction with the Scarbury). If they did, might have worked out better.

Joey was useless too. You couldn't see him and he was retarded looking in dress and acting. I think the music video should have been the opening credits...plus the extra verses and you would have a great music video.

That looks vaguely, vaguely, vaguely familiar...

Another fine example of how youtube is a neat site. Here's Joey Scarbury singing yours and my favorite theme song (well aside from the Love Theme from MST3K hehe) "Believe it or Not". A few comments and maybe some wisecracks. Concerning the Solid Gold dancer, just think they're doing their impersonation of Ralph flying. As for the guy's comment about the show lasting for only two weeks. Here are a few comments I had "Your hairdo definitely outlasted the show, you're gonna need a hammer and a chisel!" and "The show may not have lasted long, but it lasted longer than your current hairstyle!" Thanks Joel, Crow and Tom Servo for making me have a wisecrack sense of humor to respond to these things! www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCxU4Dir9Hg

You know you watch too much GAH when you watch Joey Scarbury sing "Believe It Or Not" on Solid Gold and you can see the entire opening credits to the show in your head... Guilty as charged.

I'd rather visualize the opening credits than unnecessary dancing ala this Solid Gold segment and the TVLand awards. ;D

Thanks Joel, Crow and Tom Servo for making me have a wisecrack sense of humor to respond to these things! www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCxU4Dir9HgJust listened to it myself, and I have to agree with the bit about the dancers. I've never understood why they decide to be graceful with this song (and this is assuming it was the same way for TV Land awards). It does say "Flying away on a wing and a prayer..." And... the dancers look like they're doing jazzercise in this one. It doesn't make sense just having them wave their hands around like the trees in "The Wizard of Oz." (And, what's scariest of all Claye is that I haven't watched Mystery Science Theater 3,000 since I was in high school.) When I used to do a dance for this (silly, and just for fun), I always had some sort of wobble during part of it. I think it'd work best if there was only one or two (as a pair) doing a dance to it. Odd thing was, this was a few years ago before I watched the series again when the DVDs came out. (But I also did a juggling routine to the theme too, so I can't say too much. In my defense, I do try to keep the spirit of the show in my routine... even if sometimes that happens literally. Now, rant over about the dancers. I enjoyed hearing Scarbury sing it "live" as it were. It's very good, and shows he's got an excellent voice. There's too many people today who have their voices altered in studio, and his isn't.
