...that The Beast in Black was so scaaaaary, hmm? I was not expecting the eyes popping out of the fourth dimension, or the teeth. LOL! That female voice coming out of Maxwell was just...icky.

I remember when I first wtached that episode as a child, when the beast made its appearance, it scared the hell out of me! It wasn't until I was a teenager that I came to understand why the change in Bill's eye color was so significant.
It's still a favorite of mine, though.

Yeah, up until the DVD release (unless you had a really good VHS copy) it was very difficult to even see the change in Bill's eye color - now you can! What a creepy episode.
Bill: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Shiver is right! Between that one and the one in the Bahamas...well, there's two episodes I can't show my little girl!
Geeze, they sure picked on Pam a lot in the Bahamas!

It's called "A Chicken in Every Pot", Season 2. You know, some of those scary teeth shots looked a lot like the shots of the alien in "The Shock Will Kill You''. Hmmm, reused "teeth in the dark" scene? LOL!

Probably. I mean, the show had such a HIGH budget and all.

It's called "A Chicken in Every Pot", Season 2. It's supposed to be "PLot", by the way. I guess Anchor Bay (or Cannell) missed the wordplay there. We expect this to be a long-running error since it was a mistake on the DVDs, not unlike "Sat NIGHT on Sunset Blvd" (the episode didn't take place at NIGHT, people!) We'll leave it to the Counselers and Agents to correct the newbies...

Oops! My mistake! I started watching The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea last night, which I guess is the continuation of their time in the Bahamas, but I only got as far as Tony dropping the tray of drinks on the guy who was flirting with Rhonda. (I guess if you want to see the whole thing, you can't start it at 1a.m.! A busy mom can't, anyway.)

I also thought "The Beast in Black" was scary. I forgot about the beast until Ralph went into the fourth dimension, so I jumped when I saw it again. I also liked how Bill's eyes changed color when he was possessed. There was one moment that fooled me, though. When Ralph and Bill arrive at the mansion, Bill tries to persuade Ralph to uncuff him, claiming he has beaten the possession. His eyes are brown, so you don't think he's possessed. Ralph is suspicious, especially when Bill calls the woman "chick," something you wouldn't hear him say. Then when Ralph says no and carries Bill in, his eyes are blue and you hear "No..." That was spooky, as it made me doubt who it really was talking to Ralph.

I'm really a-r about spelling and punctuation, and that's my main peeve, using apostrophes for pluralization.

The Beast in The Black is a awesome episode. I think it hits around the top of every fan's list.
It also features the great name Tommy Magaziner.

Now that I've seen this ep over and over again, along with "Divorce Venusian Style," I can safely say both of these episodes are among my very favorite now, I gave them both a 5 out of 5 on my little spreadsheet i'm building.
I love too much of this ep to go into every detail, but watching it for the first time (I dont' remember this one from way back when), and like someone said, they get back to the mansion and "Bill's" eyes are brown again, I was suspicious myself. I kept yelling, NO, Ralph, it's not him! I'm glad Ralph heeded my warning!
Yeah, him saying "chick" and Ralph calling him on it, and then "Bill" going on about shaving, with an almost desperate tone in his voice, made me wonder too. A woman in a guy's body would think of things like that, after all.
Culp, as always, did an exemplary job of switching characters. Like I've also seen mentioned, the way his mannerisms change when Sheila's in control is spectacular. I love in the hospital when "she" says, "Just one through the... (pause)... pump?" like Bill would say it, lol. And Ralph standing there, no suit protection, with a gun aimed directly at him... whew!
The times when Ralph's carrying Bill, did Katt really do that unassisted? I mean, I'm sure he's not a weak guy, he was in great shape on the show, but he did it so effortlessly, as Ralph would, of course.
I like in the scene when Ralph's breaking back through, with Bill, you can catch glimpses of Ralph sandwiching himself between Bill and the beast; I wish I could get a screen cap of that, but it's always so fast and I can't show frame-by-frame unfortunately.
I also like the quick little interchange between Rhonda and Bill, when she asks, So how you doing, Mr. Maxwel? And he gives her that sweet grin and says, In the pink, honey!
I hope Ralph told Bill how concerned the kids had been about him; I think Bill would be touched to know that!
Did you notice Bill's hair was trimmed in the last scene? It's considerably shorter than during the ep. I figured he took some time off to recover, I mean, it HAD to have been pretty traumatic, and went and got a new 'do.
I was thinking about doing a reworking of this ep, from Bill's POV, about what it had been like for him, what he was feeling and thinking while Sheila was "in there".
