I have never seen it around here. It must not be popular at all in Iowa, Nebraska, or Missouri. Or small town USA. (Makes note to tie string around finger to remember something she needs to do ... )

Omaha, Kansas City, and St. Louis are large metro areas, but they do not have it either.

I pre-ordered Issues 2 and 3 from TFAW.com a while back and got an email today that they were shipping out #2. I have one local shop a couple of towns over and several in larger cities about an hour or so away, but I just didn't feel like running all over creation *hoping* to run across them... so I took the easy way out.

I don't know if the books are doing well enough - I hope things have changed because I want an ongoing series - but last I heard three may be the capper. Times are always hard for comics and times are even tougher right now.

Mortimer: Can I ask where you get your information? Ms. B gets hers from Katt directly...or I guess she got that piece from him too. It would just be nice to know before everyone gets so invested and then it gets canned.

Times are always hard for comics and times are even tougher right now. Historically, comics thrive during tough time ... the great depression and war times. Its an inexpensive way of escaping the reality of peoples day to day life. This is how some of the best comics became such a hit like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc ...

It would just be nice to know before everyone gets so invested and then it gets canned. I will remove this if I'm asked, but yes, Marci did find out and mentioned that it was the first three were retelling of the pilot and then on to new adventures. There still will be apparently six minimum. That said, I can see Mortimer's point too - "Sparks" here is a good example. One reason the fifth and sixth comic have not been released is that Diamond dropped them (as they did most indies). If I recall correctly, they were dropped due to expenses and such. I have read rumors that a graphic novel with all six parts will be released, but we don't know when. So, I'm going to stay on the positive and say it'll be six - given how fast they're selling based on what I've read, there's still plenty of interest. And, as you said wonderfully butterfingers - it's a great way to escape reality. It's why some of the comfort industries (i.e. ice cream, comics, etc.) thrive - sometimes expand - in economies such as the current one and the Great Depression.

Mel: I love how you answer questions directed to Mortimer. Actually... rereading what you said to Mortimer, I did not actually answer the question you posed to Mortimer, which was "Mortimer: Can I ask where you get your information?" (which I could answer, but will refrain from doing so as it is directed to Mortimer ). I did, however, confirm the second part regarding Ms B, which was - "Ms. B gets hers from Katt directly...or I guess she got that piece from him too." But, either way... that's what I know as far as the comic. And, sometimes Mortimer take a sabbatical, so you might not have gotten a response for a bit.

Diamond is making it VERY tough for the independent comic publishers. I would hate to see this project go into the round file due to their nonsense. I'm guessing this might be what MW is talking about.

And Ms. B couldn't confirm it because...? I would presume it's because either a. she's doing stuff for Avon or b. doing stuff related to the comic. There is c., where she has the suit and is using it to save the day.

GG: Do you know how likely it is for that to happen?

However I did read some information a month or so back about Diamond Distributors and the comics they distribute. I wish I remember the numbers (issues shipped & money) but I don't. What I do remember is that Diamond wants a huge amount of issues sold before distributing the comic. The details of the monies involved and books sold struck me as unrealistic, at least from the perspective of a independent publisher like Katt. They are making it very tough.

There is one thing I'm curious about - what about the Arcana factor? They're working with Katt on the "GAH" comic, so wouldn't they have a stronger case in the case of publisher issues? All I know for sure is that "Sparks" is pretty much out of the running for the time being (and I'd assume the same is true for "Mythology Wars" until the economy picks up again).

GG: So Diamond wants it to sell before distributing it? That doesn't make any sense.
