I have to second the Matt Houston request. Damn, I miss 80's television.

No, it wasn't just you. I've always thought it that Megazord was just a rip-off... then again, you could say the same about the Power Rangers, in general, as compared to Voltron. I never did like the Power Rangers... I've liked some versions of the "Power Rangers," but not all of them. Had to watch it though, especially in the beginning, because my brother was a big fan of it. I know this is a bit off topic because it's '90s, but I think out of the live action kids shows Fox had (Power Rangers was there first), I really liked "Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog." It was well written, fun for even college students (which I was at the time it showed) and the actors were more believable in their roles. Funny thing was it was at the top of the ratings during its run for the age group and it was canned. I don't know why, but at least it did have a finish to it. But back on topic (sort of), not only are there a lot of shows I like watching from the '80s, but a lot of the music themes as well. I can recognize more of the tunes from that era than from the '90s and beyond. I also like "Knight Rider," "Barney Miller" and "A-Team" not only for their stories, but the music. Nowadays, it seems that they choose a song from some musician instead of creating a new tune, which can take away from the impact of the show.

Does anyone remember a show called the Phoenix? I used to watch that show when it aired on ABC. I think it was only on for a short time from 82 to 83. I remember ABC used to run the Phoenix in place of GAH on Friday nights.

Remington Steele, how could I have forgotten that one? I remember watching that one all the time at home with my parents, just like Hart to Hart. They recently put Remington Steele on DVD, and I might get it.

Tales Of The Gold Monkey... another show that ABC never gave a fair shake too, or at least that's what I've heard. I never watched it because I think I was too pissed off that ABC gave it GAH's Wednesday 7pm CST timeslot.

I remember it too. The show ran I think 13 episodes though, don't know if it was poor ratings or what. Now the main character, Johnathan, did appear in an episode of "NightMan," where he tells his daughter that she has the same gift as he has. Because of advancements in technology and computers, there was a better morphing effect from human to animal. "Automan" was another one I liked, but suffered from low ratings too.

"Hotel" isn't one I remember, then again we didn't watch "Falcon Crest" that much, and I remember the falcon at the end of the opening titles (I was little, and he would scare me ). Come to think of it, the '80s seemed to be the beginning of nighttime soaps. You had "Dallas," "Falcon Crest," "Dynasty," "Knotts Landing," and I think others. The one we usually watched was "Knotts Landing," then "Dallas" and "Dynasty." Really, the only show I wanted to watch back then was "The Greatest American Hero," anyway.

You're right. There were alot of nighttime soaps in the 80's. There was still diversity in the 80's though. There we alot of sitcoms, dramas, and made-for-tv movies that were good. Today its all reality TV and CSI rehash. I don't know if you are a big fan of football, but I HATE when ABC does a music video at halftime. When will the networks stop pandering to "young" viewers and just broadcast the damn games? OK, I'm done ranting now...

kattwoman, to answer your wondering, "The Night Stalker" was indeed the 70's. I remember watching the pilot movie (or movies? They had "The Night Strangler" too) and the show when I lived in Mississippi, and that was the 70's. The Night Strangler had one of my other favorite actors (yes, Robert Culp isn't the only one): Richard Anderson (NOT Richard DEAN Anderson, btw). In this movie, I learned about Underground Seattle, where a good chunk of the movie takes place. Fortunately, this was back in the day when they allowed such. When we first moved here, coming off the elevated highway that empties into town ("the Viaduct"), you could see the fronts of buildings of the old Seattle, which was pretty much built over after the big fire (I think it was 1888). My old love, who I met in high school, said he and friends used to sneak in via the broken windows and go exploring, outside the confines of the usual Underground tour. Sigh, in this day and age, you can't do that of course. Any way, yeah, we never missed Kolchak and Night Stalker; I never even bothered with that remake, nor have I watched the new Galactica. Gimme Darren McGavin, Lorne Greene (if that's how it's spelled) and all the old shows. As for "Square Pegs," yeah, I never missed that either, but one thing ALWAYS bugged me on that show: I could never understand WHY they wanted to fit in! One of those aggravating things throughout an entire series, I guess. For GAH, it was Ralph's constant fluttering around and stupid expressions and such, god, I HATE that, to this day. He even does it too much in Season 3; you'd think by then he'd have learned how to fly, wouldn't you? I mean, the first several episodes, I can understand, but it got old REALLY fast! Okay, gripe over
