I have snow today...not a blizzard yet, but the winter was mild so it could become a freaky storm. MELMAC JUMPS IN: You know, I remember once that it snowed in Texas on Christmas Eve. It was really weird since it was 50 degrees outside but it happened. Well, my dad wanted to go sledding on it, but I thought it was not safe. So, I told him all about the sledding accident I had one winter when I was in Colorado because my plane got delayed and they had to put me up in a little hotel in Denver. Well, the hotel did really well trying to get everything together so I could get my flight the next day. Sorry, OT again...so I will get back to sledding. But I got to sled with other stranded tourists. I was going down a mountain at break-neck speed, which I think is around 45 miles an hour from what I have read. I hit a rock and landed on my head...smashed my little juggler hat. I had been travelling to a Variety show for juggling. Sorry, OT again...back to sledding. So, then I had to be taken to the hospital because I had a concussion. So, I missed my flight again and I had to wait another whole day. My dad realized that sledding can be dangerous, especially when it is 50 degrees and shouldn't be happening. He agreed, so we went inside and had eggnog...wait, what thread is this? OH NO! I was off-topic the whole time! *Continue MelMac apology rant in your own fashion* HD! I was in topic on an off topic thread, if that makes sense. Also, I've never had a concussion sledding in Colorado. A near faint caused by altitude sickness combined with the heat from a mascot suit yes, but still...

MelMac, you shouldn't raise your voice like that...people might think you are LITERALLY mad. What? You didn't like my story. And I believe you are the one that apologized to THATGIRL originally for going off-topic before she said that was okay.

I was "shouting" because I was laughing at the same time. (Yes, I liked the story, very cute and quite surprisingly accurate to the way I talk in real life.) Yes, I was. I do tend to be apologetic a lot, don't I?

Well, it's pouring like crazy again tonight. The rain is so loud we can hardly hear each other speak!

I have been in that kind of rain. In fact I was in the rain today because I had to deliver papers. I didn't want to but I had to. Sigh. One of these days I will find a stay at home job...I hope.

Sun is out again today here...snow wasn't a blizzard so no freaky storm for us...just means we are in for a dumping later I would imagine...probably about April or May just to throw us off kilter.

That's what I noticed in West Texas with winter storms too. Also, there it tends to stay winter weather through early June at times, and has snowed then at times. Learned the hard way trying to sell a huge tub full of iced bottled water in 40 degree weather at "TEXAS." Only time I restorted to wearing a sweatshirt over my attire when I came back to concessions.

MelManticdotes Gee, you guys sure can think up of a lot of twists to my username. So far, I know of three, this one, MelMacisms, and HD's "rank" at 1K, not to mention the comments about it being ALF's home planet and a set of plastic diningware. I'll have to find a way to use that in a screencap. But, I miss the cold weather. Here it's spring weather and it's January. It should be at least a little cold, and I don't mean just at nights. First year too I haven't seen snow anywhere in the state.

It's beautiful sunshine, but chilly air today. Feels like the mountains...which is where I prefer to see my snow. It's much easier if you have to go to the snow than have it fall all over your car and freeze your water pipes at home!

Bleh. Alright, everyone take a little bit of the lovely weather here in the northeast. It's been 40s & pouring rain, 20s & blizzard-like... & anywhere in between! It poured yesterday & there's flooding going on.

It poured yesterday & there's flooding going on. Trust me, here in Texas, we'd love to have some of that rain. It's been the driest here I've seen in years. It's getting close to being La Nina weather here, and that's not good.

Yea A friend in oOklahoma has the same problem. Yeah, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico were victims of huge grass fires during the Christmas holidays. There were a few fatalities with them as well. Still, it's been a while since I've heard one, so at least people are wising up and not buring their trash (the $1,000 fine for doing it during a burn ban also helps out). The one good thing is that today feels a bit more like January than it's been the past couple of days. Still warm, but has the cool breeze typical of those days. According to forecasts, we're supposed to get rain tomorrow and Sunday, but the only time I've seen one that was completely accurate was when the meterologist said there was a 100 percent chance of rain — in the middle of a hurricane.

Thatgirl said "Well, you know what's even scarier than a raging thunder storm? When it suddenly stops and it is absolutely quiet!"
You know, this is creepy weird, but this is very similar to something I'm planning in my first original novel, that I'm actually going to seek publication on. Very odd that we both thought of this.
I could talk weather for days on end (geology too... and astrophysics/astronomy... yeah, I'm a girl geek). Storms both fascinate and terrify me (fascinate if I'm safely inside).

Cool!
I'm also writing something I hope to get published one day, but it is not really a novel. It's more of an Erma Bombeck style look at family. I've got about 12 chapters finished. Not easy to write about family when you are immersed up to your eyeballs in it! LOL!

My parents have been hinting to me that I ought to start one up as well. Right now, given I'm considered a bit anecdotal, I'm leaning toward one based on a column I used to do in Andrews. It was basically what I do here, tell stories that have some relation to an issue at hand. I think my favorite one was the argument on french fries being called freedom fries.

I used to write a monthly column for a local paper, but it was focused on the programs provided by a local educational foundation. I could shed light where I wanted, but not really opinions.

I used to write a monthly column for a local paper, but it was focused on the programs provided by a local educational foundation. I could shed light where I wanted, but not really opinions. Only time I actually wrote editorials was in my first newspaper. The one in Andrews was a lifestyles column, as I was the life editor there. Most of them were humorous takes on things, such as the aforementioned freedom fries. I did one on traveling by car through Texas my first time (a long drive too), which led to some funny stories (yes, I got lost, and my parents still kid me about it).
