I was doing a search and...
THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO Actor William Katt indicated at 'MC Comic-Con' that Owen Wilson is the firm favourite for the title role in a film adaptation of the TV series about a school teacher who is given a suit by aliens that endows him with extraordinary powers.

This is pretty old news, as Katt has said that he liked the idea of Wilson in the role. I think that if Wilson took the role seriously, he'd have potential. What little of a serious side I've seen him do (stuff in Shanghai Nights), there is at least a faint spark IMO. If he does something like "A Night at the Museum" (or a lot of the other movies he's been in), and go over the top, we'll be in trouble. Then again, if they get someone who knows the show to write the script and they watch it to get an idea (but don't have to copy it verbatim), it might work. I think with movies such as "I Spy" and one-half of "The Wild Wild West" (Klien as Artemus) we see what happens when people try to totally change/ignore the original plot or characters (Klein should know that Arte would at times at least have to fire a gun for it to be in the time period. You didn't, especially being an agent or wealthy man) go anywhere without a gun).

What the hell is it about Owen Wilson playing the roles of handsome blond men in remakes?? He's nowhere near as good looking as David Soul or William Katt. I mean EEWWWW!!
And in that travesty movie "I Spy," playing ALEXANDER SCOTT, who was originally portrayed by a black guy???
Gawd, I'm dying.

Guess it just goes back to the days of "Doctor Who" where they have Eddie Izzard rumored to play the Doctor. He's been a fluff nod each time since I think it was restarted to play him. The guy is from what I read, very weird, so... this could be the same way. Best bet would be to have a relatively unknown person take on the role or someone who's played small parts in things. Ex. Zooey Deschanel was great as Trillian in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," and prior to that she pretty much was known for "Elf" Conversely, though, Mos Def was horrible as Ford, and he was well-known as a musician (that's not a reason I"m mentioning him BTW. He really didn't play the part well.) Though, from what I've seen of the"Dukes" movie, he might've done better in there than some of them. Honestly, they act as though anyone from the South talks and acts like that. I'm goofy, but not stupid.

I don't see Owen Wilson as "Ralph". I'm not sure who would be good, but he just seems a little too cocky. Ralph wasn't all that comfortable with his new lot in life, whereas Wilson seems like an egomaniac who would never doubt himself.

Are they really going to sell that? Or is it an antique? Where are the Pam, Cyler, Bill, and the VW Bug?

Wow, prototype or not, that's a heck of a lot better than the last one they tried. Mean's Bill's and Pam's should be just as great. 'Course, now you wonder... are they getting us ready for a spinoff attempt, movie attempt, or a TV movie? Or, just doing it for the heck of it to make money... or Both?

Believe it or not, after 25 years, Mego and GAH collectors will finally get thier "Greatest American Hero" Ralph figure! FX has secured the license through Stephen J. Cannell Productions, Inc. for this incredible show exclusive! masterfully sculpted by Scott Fensterer, Bill Katt's Likeness is uncanny! Only 500 figures are being produced and will be available ONLY AT FX! If that isn't cool enough, get your figure signed by William Katt who will be a guest at the show. No, no, no! I'm sorry, but I want to walk into KB Toys or Target & find that action figure! Not fair.

I'm looking at a couple of antique shops to see if I'll get lucky and find one. There's a store here in town that seems to have everything and the kitchen sink. Maybe I'll get lucky and find one.
And, who knows... maybe they'll have them out at some specialty stores, such as comic book stores. I found some rare "Wild, Wild West" movie action figures at a comic book/gamers store. I'd keep my eyes out.

The problem is only 500 dolls made. They will be introduced at the con. Man I wish I could go. My plans fell through. I was, if I git it in time, gonna use my Avon prize money but it didn't show up yet. I want a Hero doll.

You see what I get for not paying attention to some threads? I'm so focused on NWC 30 that I wasn't reading this thread. Heck, I'm not even primarily a Ralph fan, and I was dying over this. WK at the FX 2007 AND this action figure??? You Hinkley fans must be about to kick over this instant. So I'm wondering, are they going to limit the number people can buy, do you think? "Collectors" may get an armful just to re-sell on eBay or something. If what's shown is the prototype, I wonder what the final product will look like. And I wonder what WK thinks, since this one actually looks like him.

They'll probably put a limit on it for that very reason (selling it on E-bay). They wouldn't want people making at least a 300 percent or so profit off it. Good grief, when I did the story on that Playstation three and all the people in the waiting area were there to buy it to sell it. I was like "You do it for fun or collecting. Trying to sell it on E-bay is a gamble and you could be out $300 or so instead of getting a nice profit. And (in the case of the story) quit being smartalecs because for all you know, you might not get a ticket for one. What if you end up passing out or having some family emergency. You're not going to be one of those lucky recipients of the player. And... if you don't get one, you lose a day of learning at the university, which could be invaluable to you long term. For all you know, this day you skip could be something you need to learn for your career, and 10 years down the road, someone will ask you a question regarding it, and all you'll be able to say is, 'Damn... I should've gone to class instead of taking that $300 gamble which only lasted about two weeks.'" (Uh, sorry. Needless to say I'm not a huge fan of smartalec kids who smartmouth journalists. The one guy who was nice to me, understood my job, and gave me a nice interview, I think will be a success... both regards. ) ------------------------------- Anyway back on topic. I wish I could go to one of these conventions, but it'll be a while unless one's near where I live. I am, however, going to still keep an eye out for one of these figures in antique (well here probably the original sets) and specialty stores. You never know if you'll get lucky. It's worked before.
