The one I felt closest to the show itself was one that wasn't used - "Long Fall at 10, 2 and 4." I didn't know there was another one, what was that about? Yeah that's pretty much where I am too, lol. Having traveled to many message boards, I've learned to be very grateful to the ones that honestly try to be respectful (including this one definitely). There are many other boards with just horrible reputations, lol. Oh yeah overall I liked it too. It was a change of pace and that's fine once and awhile. I just didn't see it working for the whole series. It's kinda like on Bewitched when they started focusing too much on the Witch world, when the show was supposed to be about a witch married to a human. You need to keep the balance steady.

"Vanity" I actually felt some of the alien/suit stuff was forced into it - and of course my fave is Ralph, so yeah, to say that shows how it just was out there. Come to think of it, "Vanity Says The Preacher" is probably my least favorite episode of TGAH. That whole idea of Bill Maxwell having helped shape the politics of a small country in his youth, and being seen as a bigger-than-life hero over there, is just a bit too convoluted for me. Sadly enough, it's also the very last episode of The Greatest American Hero. maybe I won't post anything when we get to that one, K? ;D

Herald, "Long Fall" was basically a story where Ralph ends up being a stunt double in a western to I think thwart a bad guy. I forgot the plot details though, but one thing it did consider is would the suit work properly if only pieces were worn. There is a thread somewhere here that mentions the episode in better detail, but I forgot where and the search feature here is SO bad that I'd probably end up with 40 responses from the "GAHeroine" thread.
My least favorite episode Prometheus is "Thirty Seconds" because they really muck up the whole idea of Ralph being in trouble with the school and the tenure debate. And the ninja stuff just seemed out of place, even though I did like some aspects of the ninja fight scene.

Yeah that does more closely match a typical GAH story anyway. I haven't seen all the third season episodes all the way through yet so I can't for sure if I have a definite least favorite episode. I do remember that "Space Ranger"....honestly I don't remember much about that episode at all, lol. The only thing that sticks out in my mind is the microwave scene, lol.

Herald, if you haven't yet seen "Vanity Says The Preacher", there's really no rush, trust me.
I like "Space Rangers" way more than the one I mentioned above.

This episode makes me wonder what happened to O'Neil? It looked like they were setting up a role for her in season three but she was never mentioned again.

I wish they would have continued to have her in the third season as a part of Bill's life. Even if only in the show on occasion. Bill deserved a little romance in his life. I also wish they could have fleshed out Bill's past regarding his wife. Had this show gone for more years, there was so much growth they could have achieved for all the main characters.

TGAH for a early 80s TV show was pretty amazing in the fact that bits and pieces of things that happened in previous adventures were brought up in later episodes. However with O'Neal the show went back to the usual "blank slate" approach as if she never existed. The episode was actually shot in the middle of season 2, but ABC aired it last. Networks don't do that unless they don't like an episode and no wonder because it did not fit the mold of what they wanted the show to be. Lilac's was in the style of a 1st season episode considering it was more character driven like those initial episodes were. I totally agree the characters could have been explored more had the series continued. I have no doubt had Cannell been allowed to make the series in his original intended form we would have seen more development.

Great points, greenguy. As good of a writer as Culp was, his scripts were not in the style that ABC was pushing for. You're right...Lilacs fit more with the first season.
Makes me wonder what Long Fall would have been like had they filmed it...would it too have been more like first season shows?

I also would have liked to have seen more character development not only with the leads, but the students as well. Tony had “fireman” and Rhonda had “Reseda Rose”. They couple have done more with those two characters and they could have had stand alone episodes for Paco and Cyler. That would’ve been fun.
Also, I thought it would have been fun had a “scenario” for an episode come from a federal style court case from one of Pam’s cases she was working on that could have dragged in Bill and Ralph. So much they could have done(explored more powers from the suit too). Aw man they could have gotten two more seasons at least. But I’m grateful for what we got to have!
