Has anyone ever attempted a Greatest American Hero marathon? I decided to give it a shot this week since I have several days off from work and the weather has been very lousy in my neck of the woods. Last year, my mom bought me all three seasons of GAH for my birthday. I've watched all of the episodes sporadically and out of order since then, but last Sunday I decided to pop in the pilot episode and watch every single episode chronologically for the next few days. Right now I'm on the third season episode 'Desperado' which I consider to be one of the highlights of the lackluster final season. The cinematography in this episode is outstanding and the story is much better than I remember as a young lad watching the show in syndication. It's interesting to see the relationship with Bill and Ralph evolve and progress throughout each episode. The scenes with Katt and Culp became stronger and more dynamic with each episode. I've also become fascinated with the changing emblems on the suit throughout the series' three year run. I personally had a suit made late last year from a site called spandexwear.com. They had photos on their site from a previous customer who sent in many photographs on the design of the suit. The replica they created for me is close to perfection. I only had the top and bottom made and it's quite a sight to behold. I'll be finishing up my marathon by early morning in a few hours. It's been a blast so far. By the way, how many people who already own all three seasons plan on purchasing the Deluxe Tin Collector's Set next month?

For anyone that I've made DVDs containing the episodes with the originally used music, I always at LEAST 'scan through' each DVD to make sure they play properly. Of course, as a fan, this is not a problem, even when it might sometimes seem like it - I mean gimmie a break - what can I say?: "Oh darn, someone wants a full DVD set of ALL the episodes - now I have to WATCH THEM ALL AGAIN to make sure they play OK - what a "pain" (not!). LOL So, in that respect, I hear ya! The more GAH marathon, the better, although I do admit I usually scan the later third season episodes FIRST and try to finish with some of the earlier ones. God I love this show.

I just did that and I have been going through and leaving my detailed analysis in the episodes thread. I do it some, but this time I had a purpose...a method to my madness if you will.

That's one of the things I miss most about the www.greatestamerican.hero site now that it's down... Scott's analysis of each ep was quite unique and detailed, and the reviews were just beginning to be updated (new look) when things went down. Ah well, maybe someday... I hope. -Frank

HD's trying something like that here on the boards, but just with other people commenting as it goes along. So far, I think he's done half. 'Course, you have to understand too he does it from a Pam perspective at times (well, more on the Pam board.) They've been pretty interesting and detailed as well, but I do miss greenguy's as well. Maybe when we do get it back (hopefully), both can be combined. (shrugs shoulders) As far as a marathon, this show would've been great as one of those fandamonium ones on TVLand. 'Course, with basically only 45 hours of the series (including the second hour of the pilot and GAHeroine), wonder what they'd done with the remaining three. Guess it could've been a two hour retrospective like they've done with other series and an hour of infomercials. (Then again, given how they've snubbed the series at times over shows like "Shazaam!," which I like too, I doubt they'd done it anyway.)

I am halfway through the third season...and would have posted all of them on my one-year anniversary had something not come up.

In the meantime, I had a why-didn't-I-think-of-this-before idea, so we now have a new sub-board under "The TV Show" to which we are adding the episode guides and Scott's analysis. He is also updating some of it as we add it, so it will take a little while to complete: New Episode Guide (WIP) sub-board

Does he have all that information or is he trying to remember it? You think it would go faster if he had all of it written down already. He is taking his sweet time.

There's a lot of info there, but from what I remember, the third season, the one you're reading now, wasn't completed on the GAH board. And, from what I've read so far, he's also adding some new things in the original ones that weren't in there before, such as Intellivision's "Dungeons and Dragons" being the "W&W" game, and other comments. Afterall, some of us who watched the show in its original run sometimes need a refresher to see what they missed when they first watched the show. Some, like "GAHeroine," only had one greenguy comment, and it was over the shiny suit Katt wore. I think in the end we'll have an even better episode guide.

I agree, Mel. And I wasn't kidding before - Scott's knowledge of GAH is astounding - the 'little things' that most probably never even noticed, let alone remember! It's pretty damn cool. Very cool he's putting the ep guide back online here.

I think we all respect the knowledge of many of the people on this board.
There are an impressive number of people here who really know their GAH! There are some big GAH experts here! Fans, are, after all, usually the ones who know these things more than anyone else!
With that said, I think some people are a bit more, shall we say, specialized (**ahem** Josie and Billswoman!!). Nevertheless, there is a lot of knowledge here!!
With that said, I personally think that there are some things on the episode guides that I may not have personally included, and some things that were omited that I would have liked to have seen mentioned. I'm not saying I could do better, or to imply any disrespect...
With all due respect, I think we should remember that there are different knowledge bases here, and since it's one person writing the guides, it's going to reflect one expert's views.

That was very diplomatic...especially for someone so specialized towards someone with no tact or diplomacy. Did you ever get the chance to see the main page with all of the episode information? I think most of that has been compiled during the original run which is what makes Greenguy's analysis so much more appealing than say mine.

What I've liked is that greenguy's comments have items that aren't know by even some of the die-hard fans. He goes above and beyond in that matter. It also helps in some situations such as who all certain recurring guest stars played or other minor details that are fun to look for in the series. Look forward to reading more, and some again. There also are a few things I do miss on the main board, such as the photos and such as well. But, hopefully we'll have the main board up and running again.

I've decided that I'm going to go trick or treating this Halloween with my girlfriend and her younger sister and her friends. And I'm going to wear my $200.00 GAH costume that I had tailor made. I just have to get a cape and I'll be good to go. And when the cooler weather arrives soon (I live in Florida) I'll be doing another GAH Marathon on my DVD player while wearing my suit underneath sweats, most likely. Normally I would feel very awkward sharing this information with anyone, but you guys on this site actually make me feel pretty normal. Devout GAH fans kick a$$!!

I think every time that Ralph has to change into the suit, you should do it too...and race him to see who gets changed fastest.

That way, when you walk up to a house, and they say, "Who the heck are you supposed to be?" you can turn around and show them the title on the cape. Then they can say, "Who the heck is The Greatest American Hero?!" but at least you would have saved your voice up til that point.

If I end up getting to dress up for Halloween (though I'm doing that all through Oct. with Fright Fest (as a Pirate or a caveman I don't know), I'll probably end up a magician's apprentice. As far as a marathon, I'd like to do that, but I'd need a free weekend to do it. Too bad TV Land hasn't considered a superhero marathon with at least one ep from every classic superhero show. Then again, we'd probably end up with a weekend of "Lois and Clark."

Not that ther's anything wrong with 'Lois&Clark' right? ( I've actually had the chance to see all but one of Superman's incarnations-the Kirk Alyn ones)
