You know, I'm a sillyhead: you're right. How about for the pilot, we step it up an hour and make it 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern? That, or we can just ffwd to all the Bill scenes (naw, just kidding... I managed to avoid doing that in the previous viewing parties, much as it pained me.) So far, for chat room choices, we have: The external Culp chat room silverhammer created The GAH chat room (MyTatuo already said it's fine if we park ourselves there and use it! Everyone's welcomed, btw, viewing DVDs or not.) YM (Yahoo's chat client) AIM (AOL's chat client) My preference at present: AIM. Yes, it's AO-Hell, and yes, I'd never normally use anything by AOL, but you can get their chat client without having to mess around otherwise with them. It's free and easy to download, get started, invite folks to conference (even if you didn't initiate the conference), etc etc. If you get it, add me as a buddy: seattlekos Others here on the board have included their chat IDs as well. Or you can just add me, I'll invite you into conference with everyone, and you can proceed to add them too. Any opinions/comments? Let me know, I want to make this as effortless and seamless as possible, to get everyone we can in there! For both the RC chat and the GAH viewing party.

The GAH chat room (MyTatuo already said it's fine if we park ourselves there and use it! Everyone's welcomed, btw, viewing DVDs or not.) Oh, cool! Does that mean we finally get to see MrsM and Derek chatting together?

Oh, why did you have to go there.... we've been trying to be nice nice here....
Anyway, I thought *I* was HD's new foil?
Nah... just kidding. Who loves ya, HD? (Besides Pamela?)

Guess we're co-foils, Jo. HD's been mine since August last year. Sometimes a little too much for his own good, but not all the time. My favorite was having to constantly work around some of his curveballs in the first game thread. But back on the chat. I'd participate in a GAH chat, even if it does feature Bill in most of the comments, but if it's just Culp in general I'll probably skip as I don't have an extensive knowledge on his work. (To be fair, I don't with any of them. )

You bring up two good points, MelMac. I appreciate that you remembered that these two planned chats are geared around Robert Culp and his works, and the GAH viewing sessions are geared around mainly Bill-favored episodes (assuming we watch everyone's Top Ten favorites. It's still not been decided if we're doing that, or the entire series). I appreciate the mods on here letting me "advertise" these Culpalicious chats, but from here on in, if you want to know more and want to join in, please visit the Culpalicious board, and look under (appropriately enough) the top section, "Culpalicious." And now, back to "The Greatest American Hero," and The Team: Ralph, Pam and Bill.

Personally, I do think if we used the GAH chatroom, it should be a GAH themed chat with all three characters and how they react to the situation, such as in "Heaven," what Ralph and Pam do as well as Bill's side. To also add to a normal chat here, you'd also need the occasional wild off the wall comment (then again, if I joined in, there usually is a literal wild off handed comment. ). To me, it's not fun to have a GAH centered one in the chatroom with just Bill or just Ralph or just Pam. It's the trio that makes the show work, not just one part. (This is one reason I changed my sig bar to the trio icon and my MelMac calling card). The way the three worked together is also why "GAHeroine" failed overall I think (yes, even over Holly's casting.) Some people don't know a lot about some characters/actors over another and it's not fair to just single them out because someone likes one person in particular. Just my two cents.

I think it's going to be AIM. Two out of three Culpalicious Sr. Staff have agreed; waiting for the third to say it's okay with her.
So far, it looks like the RC Chat planned on Monday, Sept. 25th, is the "official" board-sponsored chat. Not all of us will be able to commit to two chats per week. I'm going to try my hand at NaNoWriMo again in November, so I won't make it every week for GAH viewings, but I sure will between now and November, and for DVS (of course).
I know, I said I'd shut up about it over here. That's the latest. Monday, sept 25th, is a go for RC Chat. Get AIM, add me (seattlekos) as a buddy, and at 7:45PM Pacific I'll start the conference and begin inviting people in. Silverhammer suggested that in these weekly RC chats, folks who want to, and have the discs/tapes, can pop in a show or movie (RC, of course) and watch, while others generally yammer. Could be GAH, might be I Spy, maybe one of the movies (like "The Almost Guys"?) Sr. Staff is going to come up with an informal agenda of topics to keep us all on target and focused on our man Culp as well. Hope to see my fellow Culp fans in there!

Just so everyone understands, the GAH chatroom is still available for RC chats (especially if other options such as AIM fail), as long as they are advertised as such. I wouldn't want an official "GAH" chat being taken over by an I Spy marathon, but as long as everyone understands that this particular chat is about all of Robert Culp's works to begin with, then it is still an option that is available to Culpalicious or to anyone who asks. The only stipulation is that everyone not specifically causing problems is welcome, and no Knight Rider chats!

Does that mean we finally get to see MrsM and Derek chatting together? Unlikely. I have to work both jobs that day anyway and I doubt I will be able to pop a disc in...besides, I am more a Bill fan than anything else RC so I would probably not drop by for it anyway...allowed or not. Have fun to all that attend. And thanks, MyTatuo, for letting anyone use the chat room that doesn't work. *HONK* Almost anyone...sorry, K.I.T.T.

Hey, everyone who's in the mood to discuss RC is welcomed. "Ignore" is a lovely feature.

I have a funny feeling I know who that would be. I didn't mean to imply or insinuate a thing in the above post. I go into Yahoo chat quite often, and the use of "ignore" is a regular event for everyone. It's no big deal, really. While RC chat is meant for his entire body of works, it may gravitate to GAH/Bill Maxwell, it may wander over to IS/Kelly, or his movies, his plays, etc etc. Anyone's welcomed if they want to discuss RC and his works in any fashion, even if it's "just" in his role on GAH. (So much for my not going on and on about it on this board, huh?) 'Cause this leads me to... I won't be able to do the GAH viewing parties, at least any time in the foreseeable future. My portable DVD player was stolen so I'm SOL, unless I'm watching it from one of my computer files (depending on if I HAVE the ep, then if I can get WMP to play it for me.) I know there are some bits cut in my computer files, so I won't be totally in synch with folks watching the complete ep on DVD, but it's a start. I'll at least be watching DVS, I wouldn't miss that for anything!

It was just a joke. I couldn't attend anyway I doubt. I have to work two of three jobs tomorrow and my new hours start at one of them so I get out a lot later than I wanted. Oh well. So I hope the RC chats go well and you all have fun...I would go but I don't like talking about just one character in a chat...I thought that was what the character boards were for. But if I am around, I will probably pop into AIM and chat with whoever is around...RC-related or not. Too bad about your luck, billswoman. Maybe you need a lock on your door.

Naw, I don't wanna bump this thread, yeah... that's it...
I wanted to let folks know these RC chats are still going on. Okay, our Monday night chats are. We have been mainly focused on GAH, really, by popular demand (meaning the FEW people coming in, and I, have been talking GAH stuff).
Join us in AIM, and PM seattlekos (me), and I'll add you as buddy and invite you into the room! It's 8pm PDT, 11pm EDT Mondays. I get in there at least 10 minutes ahead of time to get started!

GAH friends.
I would like to invite you all to a special
Halloween GAH Viewing Party...
Billswoman mentioned that we should probably watch The Resurrection of Carlini together for the Halloween season. I think she is right. 110%! So, next Monday night, October the 30th, I would like to have a special viewing party of Carlini.
I can't remember, but was this the ONLY GAH episode that mentions a holiday?
Well, either way, come celebrate with The Resurrection of Carlini Viewing Party. CARLINI!!!! Bill: Jo, you KNOW I hate this episode. *Grunt* Bill as a Pirate. Andrew Robinson (aka Garak of Star Trek). Robert Donner crying out "Carlini." Spooky houses. Freaky dolls. Pam in that outfit. Yeah. You know the one.... Ralph flubbing card tricks.
What is not to love!!?
If you have not joined us for a chat, they are usually in AIM. It is free and easy to download. PM me for more info. Then add JosieGAHNoir to your contacts. Put Carlini or GAH in the subject line. We can meet at 10:30 Eastern, 7:30 Pacific for set up, adding names to contact lists, etc. Let's aim for 11 PM eastern time, 8 pm Pacific for the actual kick off time. Have your DVD ready, and at 11 PM we will all press play together.
The Culpalicious folk have been successful with viewing parties. Last spring they went through most of the series, and it was fun. This is a special occassion, for my favorite episode, and my favorite holiday. So I hope you will join us! If a bunch of people show up for RC chat too, we could potentially have two chatrooms open. Some of us could do little disappearing acts from one room, pop in another. Either way, I am watching my favorite episode. [/tt]

Jo, thanks for pointing out to me that the 30th would be much better than the 23rd, silly me. I've added this to our newsfader, saying it could potentially be both RC chat AND the Carlini viewing party. Those not choosing to watch can certainly join in the discussions of RC/GAH or whatever related to our guy.
Tonight, the 23rd, I'm starting the AIM conference early, so we can watch the GAH pilot, 7pm PDT, 10pm EDT. Everyone on this board is welcomed, of course!
Add jo and/or me (seattlekos) as buddies, and you'll get the invite into the conference.

Second, and most important, can we PLEASE stop saying that Robert Donner screams CARLINI? Robert Donner was never on an episode of the GREATEST AMERICAN HERO...or if he was, he was uncredited in every role. If you are presuming that Blanchard was really Robert Donner, you should be a better fan of your FAVORITE episode. Timothy Carey wowed GAH audiences first in FIREMAN as auto boss Cameron...and then wowed audiences again as Blanchard in CARLINI. Don't believe me? www.imdb.com/name/nm0137046/

All I'll say is that Bill. Ralph, Pam, Tony and Aidan should watch their backs this Halloween when the ghost stories really hit the fan. (though haunted houses do good enough to scare the daylights out of everyone and the kitchen sink. )
