As they say, some people age well than others. I think for GAH, everyone has aged well over the course of time, but some it's a bit more noticible than others (Michael Pare I think most, but he went from looking like a teen to an adult). In Culp's case, it's more his hair it seems, since his hairline receded a bit and the color changed.
Now, with your inclusion of his birth year, I just realized an interesting thing for me in relation to Culp. Though his birthday is just days before mine (I knew the day), we were both born under the same Chinese animal (horse). I don't believe in the mumbo jumbo behind it, but it is interesting. Only other one I know is Katt's (tiger), because its the same as someone else I know.

What, have the Ralph and Pam fans taken over?? This thread's been too quiet lately! And on that note, maybe someone with both a better DVD player and better eyesight can help me with this. I was hoping to do it myself, or use my son's keen eyesight to help me along, but I can't wait to find out. Go pop "Heaven is in your genes" into the DVD player, one from which you can get screencaps, and pause it where Dr Mengele or whatever his name is, is holding Bill's file. If you look very carefully, you can see a LOT about Bill, including his birthdate. Am I reading that right? Does it say 1926 as the year he was born?? To me, it looked like 4/1/1926. If someone could get a clear cap of that, I'll love you forever and ever. Why? Well, cuz I'm a Maxwell Maniac, but mainly because I want to start building a dossier on Mr. Maxwell. Yep. I did one on Roger Healey for my SG1/I Dream of Jeannie crossover, and it's awesomely cool, want to do one on Bill too. I'm going to start watching each ep, in order, and writing all the little factoids about Bill that we discover as time goes by, with the associated dates (eg, in "Now you see it" they clearly say what the date is). These will be strictly facts, not my personal opinions about him, although I could throw that in too in a "comments and observations" area. Something else I want to do: Write a comparison/contrast essay, with Kelly Robinson and Bill Maxwell, now that I'm getting to know Kelly OH so much better than I did just from the Robert Culp Collection. And I still like Bill better, but Kelly's, uh... VERY NICE, whoohoo!! Especially in that green v-neck pullover. Or hardly anything at all: (Sorry, couldn't resist the shoulder shot )

Well, Pam fans should be uniting and conquering, since she is the best.

What, have the Ralph and Pam fans taken over?? This thread's been too quiet lately! Too right, babe. I'll get on the stick (so to speak). Go pop "Heaven is in your genes" into the DVD player, one from which you can get screencaps, and pause it where Dr Mengele or whatever his name is, is holding Bill's file. If you look very carefully, you can see a LOT about Bill, including his birthdate. "Dr. Mengele" - you crack me up! I'm on it! Give me a few min. Hey, no FBI guys but all the scab students at the funeral - how, sucky is that? Love the factoid plan - that'll be a terrific reference for us scribblers. Or hardly anything at all: (Sorry, couldn't resist the shoulder shot ) Post those pics, baby! That one's worth posting twice! (mmm-yummy!)

Oh. Of course, Dr Mengele actually reads that one. But still. It's nice to have it in print. [sulks]

Yes, as you say, the Doc mentions "above genius." Now, I was thinking about this. I seriously doubt Bill's association with Ralph over the relatively short span of time would deserve that rating in Bill's permanent FBI file. I don't think he'd go from middle-level and mediocre (which I don't think he did, that was Beck's opinion) to "above genius" in so short a time. His exemplary record as a Special Agent, and eventually becoming the top Field Agent in L.A. then the U.S., wasn't all due to Ralph. At least in my opinion. That's one reason I want to put this thing together. One little bugaboo from "Heaven...Genes" is the second collar Bill makes, that Pam refers to: it's June 1953. Sigh. and it's canon, so I guess my MASH/Bill story isn't QUITE right. I envisioned him going to Korea, then college on his GI bill (Criminal Justice major maybe?) then joining the Bureau and being teamed first with Harlan Blackford, after the academy. Guess I was wrong. Although we know how GAH is with continuity. "Continuity? Feh, who needs it?" In "My Heroes...." it's said he and Winslow have been in law enforcement for 20 years... but June 1953? Bill's been a Fed for well-on 30 years then? When was he supposed to have been a Master Sergeant in Korea then (the korean conflict ended July 27, 1953)? Blathering here, I know.

I agree that Bill is an extraordinary fed before meeting with Ralph, but I think Ralph got him the kill rating...not the personal details that entail his file. I think this episode shows that Bill can still be very John Wayneish at times.

Sure, I agree Ralph helped get the 98% kill rate, no question of that. I just think, after watching "Heaven...." that there's way more to Bill. I didn't want folks to think I was just saying that he's "oh so super-Fed" because he's my favorite

You would say that anyway and you know it...this just helps you have some weight behind it.

Well, personally, I believe anything Bill says and he says he got scr*wed in Detroit so I'll go with that explanation. These are the best I could do: They're not fabulous, but you can jest about make out all the important words.

Wow, thanks, silverhammer!! This is great! I'm going to go post this on the Robert Culp LJ community (my transcription of it).
Which is here:
WILLIAM MAXWELL
DOB 6/5/26
Field Agent, F.B.I. Los Angeles, California
Solve and Find - completion percentage 98.7%
Estimated deductive reasoning capacity: Above Genius
Follow Through - high normal Focus - high normal Aggressiveness - high normal Field Service - high normal Self-defense - high normal
Served U.S. Army 1949-54 Korea 1) Purple Heart with Clusters 2) Decorated for valor
(I can't believe he's supposed to be four years OLDER than Culp, but that might fit being a MSGT in Korea and after a little better. Most younguns in the early 20's weren't Master Sergeants, after all, per the US Army site I found, that said most MSGTs have been in the service for quite a few years before attaining that rank.)
Great, now it's really weird... Bill Maxwell is a bit older than my father, who was born 7/17/26. Yeah, I feel creeped out now.

Have to admire his humility...he never talks about his awards in the armed forces, although we know he got shot.

Have to admire his humility...he never talks about his awards in the armed forces, although we know he got shot. Bill is just so incredibly modest - he talks more about his buddies than his accomplishments which I think is really cool. b-w, I wondered about the 4 yrs, too - I like your explanation.

And THAT is why Carlisle can't stand Bill... cuz HIS FBI file doesn't look nearly as good as Maxwell's, I bet ya!
Only thing Carlisle's better at than Bill: brown-nosing.

Explanation about what? Or were you not talking to me? Oops, sorry, my bad - the first part is you, the second part is billswoman! I was telling billswoman the other day I need to give myself a 3-hr waiting period on all responses - I've got a hair-trigger!

I know what you mean...I do love the fast-paced responses at times though. I have missed my constant interaction with some people on here...almost as good as in person sometimes.
