Okay, I've been going 'round about this in my mind, since seeing on that document that Bill was born in 1926. I'm going to disregard that, and continue thinking of him being born in 1930, like Robert Culp was. I'll keep June 5 for a birthday, however.
Why do I break canon like this? Because this single episode even does! At the beginning, we learn Bill's second collar was in June 1953, yet that document says he was in the Army till 1954! If it can't even maintain continuity in a single ep, I certainly don't need to.
Now, on the other hand, that comment about Bill being in the FBI in June 1953 can work into my story, Best Care Anywhere. Adjust a wee bit here and there, and WHAMMO! he gets discharged just before the Korean war is over (July 1953).
Problem is, I don't really know how long he'd be in whatever academy future FBI agents go to. I'd imagined he went to college on his GI Bill and then went into the Bureau; in "My Heroes..." he intimates that he and Winslow had both been in law enforcement for 20 years, "You gonna bag the whole 20 years??"
Ah, I remember what i also wanted to ask folks. Besides "My Heroes..." and "Heaven...Genes," when do we see Bill's apartment? I wanted to see if other Bill fans could scan the interior, see if there's a degree or anything on the walls. Maybe he went right from the Army to the FBI Academy, I dunno. I picture him going to college and majoring in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice or something, then going to the Academy. That'd give him much of the 50's, then he could start his career as a Fed in the early 60's, 20 years before he meets Ralph and the green guys.
Trying to work this out fitting in with canon, 'cept for that little four-year age adjustment, lol!

I guess that in 1981, the production crew had no idea that we (the viewers) would some day have the technology to do screen caps.
With that being said, I don't think you really need to be pinpiont accurate in the age and education areas. People just want to read a good story.
How's this for a new thread: Inventory Bill's apartment through screencaps!

Well, I debated about where to bestow my Century post... but not for long - ;D Where else, but at the homebase of our ever-lovin' hazel-eyed boy? I saw mrsmaxwell and silverhammer in this morning with me. We need to start our own Bill Maxwell Koffee Klatch some day, over in Yahoo somewhere. Sadly, we can't make our own rooms there any longer, but we can conference in I think (my son can tell me how, if y'all don't know). No fair peeking! LOL! Shuah, I'd love to chat - I even got a new Yahoo for the porpoise. Call me - "silverhammer_said" (gotta go update the pro-file and... aw, crap. gotta go make a new chat avatar 2 - bugger. what did I do with all my free time before GAH? I can be in Bill's Army or a Maniac - I'm Militant for Maxwell either way! (although, if I'm in Bill's Army there's always the hope of an, ahem, inspection - "Please, sir! I'm having trouble getting my buttons as shiny as yours - could you give me a hand? Or two? Oh, yes, right there." )

LOL do you read Maddox, silverhammer? He's got something about that movie and Lo Pan, lol! Gotta circle back for this - almost forgot! (scatterbrained? me? I resemble that remark!) This was a riot - I'm gonna be randomly inserting Lo Pan into every movie now. Might even make it worth seeing Titanic BTW, One of the very few things I like about "30 Seconds Over Little Tokyo" is the fact that half the cast of Big Trouble is in it - I can turn the sound off and just enjoy looking at the actors (it lessens the pain).

Let's see, hazel eyes... you know, I should go do a find/replace everywhere, since I know he's got hazel eyes; I'm the one pointing out how they're flat-out GREEN in shots from "I Spy." (Sigh. Yummy. All that stuff.)
Hmmm, shining my buttons for me... I like it. Oh, you said for YOU! Sorry. He can do mine when he's done with yours.
LOL Lo Pan; that was one of the first things i read by Maddox, although I don't know why, since I had zero interest in LotR. You should also read "How to kill yourself like a man." That's the first one my sister directed me to.
Yeah, 30 seconds over little tokyo was a pile of excrement, wasn't it? I think it qualifies as the Worst Episode of GAH. I mean, even Bellybuster and Space Ranger have some great Bill scenes, but 30 seconds, um... I think you're right, I think they just wrote it on the set as they went along.

All that stuff.) This may sound like a dumb question, but was Culp's character upset in "I Spy" when you saw his eye's were green? Mine are hazel, like his, but they will turn green when I'm upset. Don't even have to be crying, but they do and that's how my parents knew something was wrong. But, no matter what color his eyes are, I will say the only color so far that doesn't work (save for the story) on Culp is blue. His eyes were too creepy in "Beast in the Black." Didn't match him at all.

This is a really pissed off Kelly: He'd just found out "The Office" had been taping him and Sam McLean (France Nuyen, who Robert Culp ended up marrying) during a little supposedly clandestine meeting. To add insult to injury, he demands of Gabe, How'd you get the sound, Gabe? and finds out SCOTTY had planted a microphone in Kelly's jacket. Kelly stands, totally pissed, and says, You'll have my resignation in the morning. Gabe screams at him to sit down, and shows Sam meeting with General Vera three days later, in the same park, acting all lovey-dovey as she'd just acted with Kelly days before. Gabe then tells him and Scotty they have to find out what the General's up to, and to go through Sam, "Walk all over her if you have to, BREAK HER... LOVER" Gabe adds scathingly. That's when Kelly looks like he's about to rip Gabe's heart out and stuff it down his throat. Culp wrote this episode; it's one of my very favorites, too. This is Kelly from the same ep; he's at a dinner party the General's throwing, who doesn't know Kelly knows Sam McLean. Kelly goes out on the terrace and he's looking through the window at Sam's aunt, a once-vibrant woman who's fallen into alcohol and head-over-heels in love with the General. I think his mood here is more stress and feeling really sorry for the aunt, who's the innocent one in all the love triangles going on: If you increase the brightness and contrast, you should be able to tell they're green eyes.

MrsMaxwell, your re-posting of the ever-gorgeous Bill in Blue pic made me think of this one. I personally think this pic is ALMOST as good as yours; it's rapidly becoming one of my very favorites: What is it with him and blue, any way? He looks so good in that color! I love his tousled hair, the aviators, the little gap in his teeth, the pose.

I know a lot of people aren't crazy about the episode "Fire Man" - but I was re-watching it the other night and I'd like to suggest it's worth a harder look. Culp looks freakin' awesome in this episode. His hair, his makeup, his costume, are all terrific. And it's shot in such a way to really show off his long, lean lines. Now, I've got a theory based on the fact that this ep is directed by a woman: Gabrielle Beaumont (I'm assuming it's a woman, although it could be a French-Canadian guy with a Grizzly Adams beard for all I know). Anyway, I compulsively add narrative to even the slimmest thread of information, so the story in my head goes like this: Gabrielle, being a woman and not threatened by the high-voltage power of Culp's raw masculinity (no, I'm not editorializing, it's a documented fact ) - being, on the contrary, inclined to enjoy it, showcased Culp's natural magnetism brilliantly in this episode. The net effect - making Ralph look like Robin to Bill's Batman - discomfited the powers-that-be. Thus the premature aging of Bill Maxwell was reinforced in the second season. This is just a pet theory of mine - feel free to dispute it (only don't hurt it. it's a cute and fluffy pet theory and only wants to be stroked gently ). Finally, I offer this photographic proof in evidence: Gabrielle: "Robert Redford, eat your heart out." addendum - billswoman, note the distinct greenish cast to the eyes here. the mystery deepens...

I actually count "Fire Man" as one of my "better than average" episodes. Like I've mentioned before, it's cool cuz it initially pits Bill vs. Ralph & Pam. But you also bring up excellent points; Culp is gorgeous in it (of course). Here's a little factoid, and forgive me if I'm telling y'all the obvious. During I Spy, Robert complained that "If Cos doesn't have to wear makeup, I don't either." He told Sheldon that he'd sunbathe and keep a nice tan going, so he could forego makeup. Well, he'd lie in the LOS ANGELES SUN at Noon, on the roof of the building. He laughed in the commentary and added, We didn't think about stuff like that back then. Sure enough, he developed some pre-cancerous growths, near his temple. So he stopped sunbathing, and opted for minimal makeup instead. Now, in the long term, I think that was actually beneficial to him, cuz his skin, in GAH, does NOT look like the skin of a man in his early 50's. Like this: (One of my favorites, in case y'all couldn't tell) silverhammer said "the high-voltage power of Culp's raw masculinity (no, I'm not editorializing, it's a documented fact )" LOL, I loved so much of this post, but you really nailed it with this one!

OMG OMG OMG! That's so cool!!!!!!!!!
Can I use that at my GAH room party in January?? I've been wanting something to show MM, HH or DD. Can you make one for da homeys and the devotees too?
What I was thinking was in lieu of buttons, which would be expensive, I could get some of those name-tag labels people can put on their clothes without ruining them, so when people show up they can proudly declare their favorite character or characters. And show they'd been to my room party, heh heh.
This is so awesome, this is going up in my cubicle at work too. Just printed a December calendar with four Bill pics, two of them yours, MrsM (Bill in Blue and the one where he's reclining and tied up in Beast in the Black, heh). The other two are my favorite one from BitB and Bill from "Divorce..." screaming, Hold it! Freeze your face! Now that I'm in my permanent location at work (well, for now) I can start decorating it as I see fit. Far out.

I took it! and I got.... 90%! woot! [does the robot dance] It was a near thing (I cursed your name when I got to the trick questions - spelling! sheesh! ) But I pulled it out with the 2 bonus questions so I can now proudly display my badge of honor: Thanks for putting that together - it gave me a lot of grins filling it out (Robert DeNiro - ha! - as if he could be that good an actor)

I was using this for my Yahoo icon: but it was kinda small. My son asks (and get this), "Is that Robert Redford?" Aw, what a boy I've got. I laughed and said, You're half right, it's Robert Culp. He's far purtier than Redford ever was. So of course I had to show him a couple more shots (literally... one was from "My Heroes..." shooting pool). Son and I were playing Pool on Yahoo at the time, and he'd just made a great shot. I had to tell him about Bill sinking not one but TWO in one shot.

Ooh yeah, you can definitely tell those are Culp hands. Ain't we bad? We know his various body parts so well, we can tell the Real Thing vs. the Stunt Double.
Look at his hands holding the paper at the beginning of The Best Desk Scenario, when he's doing the Maxwell Sizzle. Whew.

"A gun, a badge, and legs that won't quit. Mmm, Culpalicious."
YEAH!
I need to come up with a good catch-phrase, like the above or "Bill Maxwell, Walking Charisma Machine."
