I have to admit I am a T.Baker Fan. I am glad you found the article of interest. I like the new BG. But it's not BG. They should have called it something else. Plus I do get annoyed with the trendy OVER emphasis on sex that plagues TV today. Personally, I wish there was more complete video of Patrick Troughton's (Second Doctor) era. He's a good Doctor as well, but he only has six complete video stories intact, the rest were destroyed. Haven't watch enough of his or the first Doctor's era to rank them. T. Baker was good until Season 17, and those performances made me drop him down in ranking. He was acting too goofy and at times was unbelievable as the Doctor. I think if Lalla Ward (Romana II) wasn't cast as a balance then, the show would have died that season. (Mary Tamm, the first Romana, was also good, but she would have been the extreme opposite of the way he was playing the Doctor by then. Lalla was opposite, but matched better with the change.). ITA on the overemphasis of sex on TV. Watching the first 15 minutes of the Pilot for "BG," I was turned off that the Cylons were made to look human. I also was annoyed that Boomer and someone else get into a snog fest within the first 5-10 minutes. I don't mind kissing, whatnot, on TV, but that soon in a pilot? Should have been called, "Kissingbattlestar Galactica" (OK bad title choice, but still). ...

Considering the one (female) Cylon that's the lead, that may be more accurate to begin with. In fact, she was the dominate art on the DVD cover for the first season. You'd think they'd design one with the entire cast on it for the first season (or do like the original one and have the redesigned metal Cylon as the cover).

Please dont get me wrong. I'm not a prude. But I hate to see a good franchise choose the carnal way out.....aka SMALLVILLE!

Please dont get me wrong. I'm not a prude. But I hate to see a good franchise choose the carnal way out.....aka SMALLVILLE! No, I don't, as even I don't have too much of a problem with it. I've come to accept that there will be an emphasis on these things, but it's the overabundance of them that's making me tune out of a lot of shows. One show that chose to change to this, "Diagnosis Murder," killed the show within a season. They were trying to get younger audiences (though I got into it), and instead, we have younger doctors who flirt, etc., and the leads seem almost secondary. Can't watch "Smallville" where I live, so I can't say how much it's changed. There are very few shows nowadays that I watch: "CSI," "Law and Order," "Crossing Jordan," and "House" (The last when I can). Out of the reality shows, I pretty much just stick with "The Amazing Race." "Survivor" and a lot of the others are getting too melodramatic. Probably a good thing, because it means the networks are having to get their thinking caps on and start writing shows again. Though, this new banking game show (reminds me of Treasure Hunt), seems to be interesting. But back on topic, speaking of game shows, I remember when "Wheel of Fortune" contestants had to spend their money on prizes in the studio. They couldn't keep the cash. Forgot how the top winner was decided though (I think the "account" feature of it). I also remember watching "Sale of the Century" (couldn't miss it) and dreading when "Press Your Luck" was on. I really did not like it when someone got a Whammy because those creeps made me jump about four feet. Kid show wise, I also liked "Fun House," "Finder's Keepers" and "Double Dare." I think "Fun House" was cancelled too soon, as it had a lot of potential. "Finder's Keepers" was also fun because who wouldn't, as kids, want to destroy a room trying to find an item and win a prize?

I keep telling myself I should watch the L&O shows (although I still miss Lenny terribly) and House. Crossing Jordan's good too. It'd at least drag me away from the puter, which I also look at 8 hours a day at work. CSI Miami turned me off of wanting to watch ANY CSI; not only cuz of that uggo Caruso, but those stoopid camera thingies they do, it got so freakin' annoying. I don't even know if the "regular" CSI does that or not, I haven't bothered.
As for Wheel of Fortune, just a little correction. They didn't HAVE to buy anything in the showcases, but if they didn't and chose to put it on account, they risked losing the money on account if they hit bankrupt. That's why most opted to put any remaining money into a gift certificate.
I watched way too much Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Family Feud in the 70's, lol! Oh, and don't forget High Rollers, that was a fun one too.

I love the original "CSI" though cause well, it's the original and i like all the actors. I love William Petersen (what the heck is it with thoes William guys anyway ) And it's done a bit smarter than the others. Man, can they stop with all the spin off CSI's; they even have a naval one oh well, i guess someone digs it. Personally, i'm excited to see the upcomming third season of "Rescue Me". Nowadays, i watch alot of "That 70's Show", i also watch alot of "M*A*S*H" ......ok, i went way off the main topic at hand here, sorry

I concur with HART TO HART and SIMON AND SIMON...both great shows. Of course, INSPECTOR GADGET and the original TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES were awesome...right up there with the GHOSTBUSTERS.

It's been a long time since I've seen the original episodes of the show, so I didn't remember it too clearly. I like how they do the bonus prize now, a spin of the mini wheel. I was getting tired of them constantly saying they wanted the cash. Not that I blame them, but I just wished they'd be daring and say car or necklace.

A lot of shows I watched also were in syndication, such as the earlier "Doctor Who" episodes (Pertwee and pre-80s T. Baker), "The Wild, Wild West" and some old (b&w) "Perry Mason" episodes. Still watch them to this day when they're on.

This doesn't strictly belong in this thread, but doesn't really warrant its own home...
There were a lot of folks commenting on the new Who, so I wanted to mention there's a semi-official rumor that the new series 1 will be released in the US as a boxed set in Feb 2006. That'll be prior to its being shown on BBC America.

I read on the Outpost Gallifrey Web site (which is usually correct) that they were going to release the DVDs only because they couldn't find a US buyer for the series (though I know one PBS station in Texas that would do so in a heartbeat). And, it looks right now they only sell them as the 13 part season collection. (If so, I'd better save my nickels and dimes, cause it'll be a pretty penny at $100.)

Speaking of cartoons, how about "Thundercats" ? i really liked that as a kid, and of course "The Smurfs" and does anyone remember "The Little's"? i loved it, they were mice, and how about the animated movie "The Secret of Nihm"<i think i misspelled that, but anyway that was awesome, and "The Dark Crystal" ah man, i love that movie. Jim Henson was gold in that time, or he had the golden touch.

I also liked the Littles, with their outfits and such. I also remember "Fraggle Rock," "The Dark Crystal," and the "Muppet Show." I think my favorite two episodes of the "Muppet Show" are the "Star Wars" one with Mark Hamill, C3PO, R2-D2, and Chewbacca, and the one where Danny Kaye guest starred. The funny one about Kaye's episode is he plays the uncle of the Swedish Chef and even does a good parody of the chef's voice. I just wish they had released it too on the CDs they released (it is later on in the show series, so it's not in the collection they released as far as I know). Now, I don't know if this was an '80s show or not, but I also remember a show called "Today's Special." It was set in a store along the lines of JC Penney, etc., and a mannequinn ("Jeff") received a special hat from a magical mouse named Muffy that let him come to life. Now, if the hat was removed, he would turn back into the mannequinn. There was also a security guard named Sam and someone else whose name has slipped right now. It was a lot of fun to watch.

I have the Muppet's with the Star Wars cast on video. It was funny... I know it by heart. I also remember The Donny and Marie Special with members of the SW cast ,and now to prove that I am the queen of cheeze.... (and I can't believe I am admitting this I must be insane. I think I spent too many hours on Photoshop.)but...I..own the Star Wars...........Holiday Special. There! I said it! Boy that's a load off my chest..I think.. "Oh no! I can't believe she just admitted to that." "Oh come on Agent Maxwell, I'm sure it's not that bad." Ralph-"Apparently you've never seen it. I'm feeling a little ill myself."
