Yes, Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train count. Why? I have Filmation's "Ghostbusters" and "The Muppet Show." *********************** Good to see you back on the boards MyTatuo. Hope things are going well for you.

Well, since you guys are all making a list, I should make one too. This one is only of the TV series box sets I have. If I were to make a list of all the movies I have on DVD, it would take me hours to compile.
Greatest American Hero - the complete series tin box set
Incredible Hulk - seasons 1 to 4 (waiting for the 5th season to be released on October 21)
Seinfeld - seasons 1 to 9
Trailer Park Boys - seasons 1 to 7
X-Files - season 1
The Flash - complete series (25 episodes)

So are you still going to buy me the player and convert all of my current DVDs to Blu-Ray?

Houdiniderek: Maybe for Christmas. ;D I don't like the "maybe" there. *Decides to never get a Blu-Ray*

Houdiniderek: Trust me, you will have a Blu-ray Player eventually and then you'll be wondering why you didn't get one sooner.

I am only getting one if you are getting me one. Or until that is the only way they release new DVDs and whatnot.

Well, it's now been more than a year since we last discussed the issue of this amazing state-of-the-art technology called Blu-ray. So I'm curious if anyone else has bought a Blu-ray player in the past year, and if any of you staunch defenders of the regular DVD format have finally changed your minds and decided to embrace the future.

No - I have instead embraced a thing called a Fuseworks Kiln and have been enjoying making fused glass and other art projects. If it weren't so late here, I'd be making a spacy-themed pendant I have in my head tonight instead of tomorrow.

I'm probably with Derek, in that I will wait until old DVDs are no longer sold, or I am gifted a Blu-Ray player. I will not be converting my old DVDs, however, as long as new players remain backwards-compatible. (Or until Special-Edition Blu-Ray-only versions come out that I can't live without.) The new player will also have to be regionless, since I have DVDs from America & Europe. I have nine seasons of The Greatest American Hero (unfortunately, six are duplicates). Um... I have the pilot episode of Stargate SG-1... Er... Oh, and my wife has the entire MacGyver series, and now Firefly, too. Uh... My kids have lots of Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train. Does that count? Since this post, I have also purchased Ghost Whisperer (also for my wife) and ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, which is the funniest show I've ever seen. Wish I'd watched it when it was on TV; if more people had done that, perhaps Fox would not have cancelled it. Though Fox seems to axe their quality programs quite a bit...

Your wife has the entire series of MACGYVER? Can she burn me the two made-for-TV movies?

A friend of mine got one, and honestly, I can't tell the difference. He has a big old flat screen tv, though, so to me it seems like quality of tv makes a difference more than anything.
Why on earth should I spend that kind of money to play something on a 10 year old tv?
Not everyone has cash to burn.
I won't be sorry? I WOULD be sorry to shell out hundreds of dollars and then not be able to buy groceries for a month or two...
I still watch some of my favorite shows on VHS - if that's what they're on. They still make me laugh (or cry, or whatever) the same...
