If it is a woman this time around, maybe they were inspired by the new Bionic Woman series in putting a heroine in the forefront. (Although that still bugs me...how can you have Jaime Sommers without Steve Austin??? They couldn't possibly work him into this now, unless he was the real first bionic operative that they'll introduce at a later date...but still...)
Anyhoo....the Star Trek: New Voyages series as well as "Hidden Frontier" have managed to operate for years, even with Paramount Pictures constantly looking over their shoulder. They succeeded because they remain strictly non-profit (and they are actually GOOD!) If this TGAH series actually has film production professionals like New Voyages (even being able to get Trek veterans to appear FOR FREE), they might find a stable online home if the writing is as good as the effects.
Which leads to the biggest problem in fan fiction videos: not being able to pay anyone. It's next to impossible to rely on friends to pull something like this together when everyone (even you) have real lives, real jobs, real bills to pay which always should come first. (I know, I've tried...) As with those Trek fan series, it takes a very special team of dedicated fans to come together and commit to such a project. So don't blame anyone if they have announced a fan show but don't deliver...it may have seemed like a great idea to his buddies, but they all will eventually drop out for having "more important things to do." -- and they would be right to do so.
Even if these people do succeed in getting a show on the net, it's good to remember that you don't have to consider it "canon" unless you like it. :-)

Holly still LOOKED great in the suit. Maybe from the neck down... but her face looked like it got hit repeatedly by an ugly stick...
actually, it looked like it hit every branch in the ugly forest.
*shudder*

*shudder* Going a little OT from the thread header, but I don't think Holly was ugly per se... it was that HAIR! Shudder! I mean, not Paris Hilton ugly. Look at Hilton's facial structure... the girl's homely as a mud fence. Sure, make a chick with a nice figure, blonde hair and a tan, and guys ga-ga over her... but she's really ugly. I don't think Holly was that ugly. And yes, she did look great in the suit, as did William Katt (I was giving props on that in yahoo chat, when we got talking about him for some reason).

Too funny Jo. I think Mary Ellen Stuart was OK as far as physique and looks as far as the role, but unfortunately the character matched the stereotypical ideals of people who look that way. Ralph, while easy on the eyes, had a lot more brains the Holly appeared to have (yes, I'm including Heroine) and would listen to Bill (even if it took him getting beat up in the process). Holly was just doing what she wanted too and preening after every little thing it seemed. Her hair was not that bad after the training sequence to need brushing. ---------------------------------- But, to tie this into this endeavor... I hope if they do go female wearer they make sure the character is strong, not necessarily worried about preening after every scenario, and works well with her teammate. That's the only way that will work. As I've said, it can be done, though I admit (this will shock some) I'd prefer a male in the suit in this case. Wish they'd at least say which way they're going so we'd have an idea.

Hello, Jo,
Although you initially created it, my blanket Super Hero costume is now copyrighted to "Mona Maxwell, Bill's Sexual Dream Partner." Holly can't have it.

Just like most of us on this board I have been obsessed as to who might be behind all of this I have been doing some investigative searches and I found that the guy supposively behind it "Caesar Collazo" has been buying up old television classics when I google the name. I have also found that this "Caesar Collazo" also owns Coleco and ColecoVision remember those days of Donkey Kong and Zaxxon. So this new TGAH series might NOT be a joke. We will just have to stay tuned I guess.

This goes double with them still trying to do a film off and on. I've read other rumors about this attempt on other boards, and some of the ideas I'm hearing are a bit far-fetched and in one case, if they went with it, they'd be negating part of "Divorce Venusian Style" because of the dialogue said in the episode.

Still it would be nice to see it play out.

Still it would be nice to see it play out. It depends. Casey-Warner is a company that does help produce shows, however, give that it does say distribute in the headline, that usually means they can distribute copies of the original shows. I still think, based on this, Disney still has the rights to make a film/movie/TV movie/show. But, who knows this day and age. Seems the only things that are certain are death, taxes and bills (slight misquote intended).

If it were me, I would keep the greenguys as mysterious as they were in the original series; leave it to the characters to ponder over who they are and where they came from (or even if they are on our side!). Maybe sprinkle a few tidbits of information here and there. I also would like the characters to meet a hero from another one of the other garden planets the greenguys are protecting, just for the possible insight into the aliens. We would see them, just not very often. A TV series would allow them to explore it more over the course of several episodes; I wouldn't want ALL the questions answered in one two-hour movie. :-)
But that's just me. :-)

Look at the latest Bourne installment. It was to be the last and have all the questions answered or alluded too. Now the studio wants to make it the next BOND franchise. I agree it should be left mysterious. I hope none of these come to fruition though...It would ruin my new television series reviving it. I have written several scripts already...I found them from years ago.

I agree with HD and all that even if the show came back, and attempted to answer some of the mysteries of the show, it would just be THAT show's interpretation and doesn't make it canon. Look at all the TGAH fanfiction and our board discussions--we all have our own views of some of the wonderful mysteries Cannell left us with. If a new show gave answers that worked for me, fine, but if not, then that would not be a show that I really might find that much interest in.
And, anyway, I just can't believe they'd find ANYONE to even come close to Culp, Katt and Selleca's characterizations and presentation and it was those people that CLEARLY made the show, with the intriguing mysteries being secondary to those characters.
Also, one wonders if that Coleco company is more thinking of putting out a video game of the show, and not a real TV show, since apparently, video games is what they do.
I still doubt they are going to get a TV show on the air, but I'm happy to be proven wrong!

A video game would be neat, but I would be curious how much fun it would be. Could you only play Ralph? One player? Two players? Would you get new suit powers as you advanced? Etc? Neat idea, but I am curious how it would work.

Neat idea, but I am curious how it would work. What would be neat is if someone did a game a lot like the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy one they made. It was done in the day of basic computer games (just text), but if you played the game, it had several different outcomes for the commands you gave your character. Unfortunately, it only allowed you to play one character - Arthur. I'll try to find the link so I can show you what I mean... might take a while though.

I already play a GAH-inspired character, "Magic Jammies" in the online role-playing game City of Heroes (as well as his evil twin, "Dark Jammies" on City of Villains) and managed to give him a lot of the same powers as Ralph, which are earned as the characters "level up": flight, super strength, durability, invisibility, enhanced perception against stealthy enemies, and he can shoot laser beams out of his eyes. :-) Sometimes he can even see through walls! (not a real power, just a fortunate side effect of crappy graphics cards!) A fellow player I team up with occassionally even created a Bill Maxwell to run missions with me.
A video game of GAH would actually work in a similar fashion if he picks up new powers as he goes along, just as Ralph did in the show. Games were made for Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider so it wouldn't be much of a stretch; I would buy it. :-) Even better if the actors provided the voices.
And he should crash into something every time he lands. I can't do that on City of Heroes!

That sounds cool and I hope that if they DO a video game the real actors voice it. And that Pam is involved.

An CGI or animated show could work that way also...actors not having to worry about how "old" they look or other such nonsense. That's how I hear they are bringing back "Ghostbusters" as a CGI feature with all the original voices (latest rumor).
