MrsMawell...go to www.bustedtees.com and scroll down until you find the T-shirt about Jersey women. I used to live there, so I will count myself as an expert.

[glow=red,2,300]How do you like these blasts from the past?[/glow] They're both yummy, but this one? Rowr, rowr.... Man, that guy has aged well! And before GAH, they didn't even have botox treatment, did they? Granted less than 20 years went by between shows, but still... Does this look like a man in his early 50's? (I picture this as Bill sleeping, not Bill being dead, lol. If you haven't seen "The Beast in the Black," you should. It's one of the very best eps made. See it. Really.)

I agree. Bill: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Speaking of Nooooo!! I was wondering something... Culp does such an awesome job in that ep, do you think they did the woman's voice first, then he did the mouth motion as if he was saying it, or do you think he said it, and she dubbed over him? I don't quite know how they coordinate things like that. I really like, "Just one through...the... pump? Real easy." and "Oh, did I mention? He's a very good shot." I don't think any actor could've pulled that ep off like Culp did. And no, I ain't saying he's an awesome actor cuz I find him so adorable (which he is), that man's REALLY a great actor. I read one review for "The Warlord" I Spy episode, and the person said, I didn't even realize it was Robert Culp till halfway through the episode, that's how great a job he did! I can't WAIT to see it! I'll be getting both RC collections soon, very very soon.... oorah!

I don't think anyone else had the charisma then to play Bill Maxwell. I think they dubbed her over, but that means he had to know what she might use as inflection in advance and get it to look right. Hard stuff regardless...unless you are a pro like your man, Maxwell.

Yea, i'm only 2 1/2 hours from having "This is the one the suit was meant for", pending CME's and geomagnetic storms and hopefully the person i'm stealing it from stays hooked up!
Ooh rah,ooh rah, and a booyah booyah booyah HA HA HA! (Doing my happy little Helen dance now, go Helen, go Helen, go Helen.)
Okay, I think y'all get the picture. And so will I, wh00t!!
Stay tuned, cuz I suspect I'm going to get TONS of icons and screencaps from THIS one!

...another "I Spy" pic It's real hard to capture a pic with Robert solo. It seems like Cos is in every shot.

So what is the great man up to nowadays? I know he played Grandpa in some movie this year (or will when it is released). Is he just setting back and taking it easy or still out there hard-core acting because he kicks butt?

I was wondering, do you think it'd be okay to do pics of Robert in general in here? Cuz I'm going to have some from "I Spy" and "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" to post, and I wanted to keep that fun captioning going. MrsM., have you seen "The Tiger" yet on "I Spy"? It's predominantly Kelly and he's running around in this awesomely skintight flightsuit and looking MIGHTY fine, wh00t!! Yeah, my b.

I think those pictures are fine, but I think the captioning, especially on this board should be more geared towards the series, but I might be alone in that.

Oh yeah, I remember why I originally came to this thread tonight (those gorgeous Robert pics did me in, lol).
OK, all you Bill Maxwell fans, get your thinking caps on. I've been asked by some folks to continue my "Best Care Anywhere" story (that has the wounded Bill Maxwell going to the MASH 4077th), so I'm going to. I needed to know some things, though, if GAH ever even said it.
I get the impression Bill's captain, Tracey Winslow, was about Bill's age. He was a captain, so he must've gone to college (I imagine he would've been too young to have worked his way up to captain via field promotions).
Did Bill go to college? If so, would he have been an officer too, like a Lieutenant? Basing Bill's age on Robert's age at the time, he would've been about 21 to 23 years old during the Korean War (police action?) It ended on July 27, 1953, just a couple weeks before Robert Culp's 23rd birthday.
If not an officer, maybe a sergeant? He said in "My Heroes...." that he used to bring up the rear, cuz of the youngsters, with Winslow taking point. He wouldn't have been all that older himself I surmise. GAH takes place 30 years after Korea.
Any information about Bill's early life would be great, thanks!

I think I'll just post the MOST awesomely good ones here (within reason), and let others go to my LJ or my photobucket to see what else I've got. I think you're right, perhaps the captioning fun should be kept to GAH. If not, we'll all go caption-crazy and greenguy might have to scold us.

If you watch heroes again, I think you will hear Tracy say what Bill was when he goes...I'm not a Captain anymore...after that I think he refers to Bill's rank.

I remember Winslow saying that, but I don't remember WHERE. Any clue, so I don't have to watch the whole ep just for that one possible line? Cuz I don't recall any mention of Bill's rank, but I might be mistaken.

It is in the bar right after they are playing pool and before they leave each other to go home I believe.

I think I'm remembering Winslow saying "We're not in the 72nd armored any more, Billy" but he doesn't say what you said throughout the entire episode, at least the version I have. I was under the impression that none of these eps I have is cut, but maybe I'm wrong. I just watched the pool/bar scene twice, then the other scenes with Winslow, and didn't hear anything about rank.
No worries, though, I'm sure I'll figure something out.

OK, this is how I'm going to portray the young Bill Maxwell in Korea. He's going to be a sergeant, sort of the non-comm that assists the captain (kinda like Radar or Klinger, but obviously not a company clerk, because they're on the battle lines.) Like Winslow said, Maxwell doesn't compromise, which is what made him such a darned fine soldier. I'm imagining him about Culp's own age at the time, so during this era of MASH, 1953, he'll be 22 years old (just a bit older than the youngsters, who'll mostly be 18 or 19 years old.) He's a volunteer, not a draftee, having joined the Army pre-Korea, at the age of 18. I picture Bill as having gone to college, as Robert did, on the GI bill, AFTER the war, studying criminal justice and law enforcement.
What we DO know about his time in Korea:
He took one in the lung, and was loopy from the pain killers for a month, after being stuck with a HUGE needle by "a vet." (O:SS)
Captain Tracey Winslow was the platoon leader. He'd take point while Maxwell brought the youngsters up from the rear (My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys)
Winslow carried the wounded Maxwell over his shoulder, over 15 miles of "frozen real estate." (My Heroes....) Okay, for the purposes of my story, Winslow carried Maxwell to where Bill could then get a chopper and be airlifted to the 4077th. Hmmm, so obviously it's Winter... so I should set the story about February 1953 I think. For those who don't know MASH that well, by this time, Colonel Potter is in command, Frank Burns is gone, and Charles Winchester is there as second-in-command and thoracic surgeon (he's the one mentioned at the end of "Best Care Anywhere," and Potter is the "vet" that shoots Bill up with the big ol' needle.)
Does this sound workable, my fellow Bill fans? If there's any other info out there, I'll be happy to hear it. There're eps I don't have, obviously, so I may've missed a little factoid about Bill's earlier life.
Thanks!!

Oh yeah, one more thing: He served under "Jammin' Jerry" (O:SS). I've tried to discern the General's name by scanning thru the ep, and got a screencap of his name tag. I THINK it says "Steiner," but I wouldn't swear to it. Anyone else know? MrsM, maybe you can get the cap better. The best closeup of the name tag is during Bill's interrogation; the General sits down and leans toward Bill, and it's the closest shot you can get of it.

I'm hanging my head in despair... through the kind offices of software and hardware, I don't seem to have the ability to get screencaps directly off a DVD on sister's computer. Even doing a "Print Screen" and opening it from the clipboard didn't do it. So I didn't get ANY caps I know this isn't quite related to Bill, but Kelly Robinson, but MrsMaxwell, if you haven't rented "Magic Mirror" then DO IT and CAP IT and SHARE IT and I'll love you forever and ever. Here's a little teaser: Scotty on a bench in a locker room. Kelly, WITH ONLY A TOWEL WRAPPED AROUND HIS WAIST walks by, in front of the camera, goes behind Cos and changes into a pair of sweat pants. The only thing between you and Culp is Cos blocking the view. Okay, I'm drooling over this one... little realizing the REAL treat was coming up at the end! So cut to the very end, and Cos walks by, in a steam room, with only a towel around him. My heart racing in anticipation, knowing Culp's going to be similarly attired, through the mist you can see him lying horizontally, his right leg (against the wall) bent, and a towel just BARELY covering him. All right, I'm almost near death by now, my eyes the size of saucers. Then came the piece d'resistance: He SITS UP and that's it, I've lost it. I tried getting the damned DVD player to go BACK to that part, so I could pause it till the end of time and gaze it in wide wonder, but the thing is a POS. Sigh. Guess I'll have to try it later. OK, I'm done, now, back to Bill Maxwell. Sorry, all, just had to share the Greatness that is Robert Culp. Whew. When he was about 37 or so. All right, for me, that's a primo age, dunno about you younguns, lol. (Oh, one more fineness that is RC in this ep: in a couple shots, his eyes are downright GREEN! I managed to reverse and pause and check to see if I'd been imagining it, but no: they were most definitely green. Whoo, way purty too, rowr!)
