Are you buying it?

If I was buying it, would I tell everyone here about it, increasing the chances of me being outbid? Think, McFly, think... Perhaps you don't read every post, such as this earlier one I wrote to Jo... I'll have to scan it for you, if I can find my copy. My Mad version is by my computer, but the Cracked version is filed away somewhere... It hurts me when you don't read every word I write, HD

I thought maybe there was more than one version and you had one copy, but not the other. And I thought you would share the love with all of us even if you WERE bidding.

I bought mine, as I said, for a total of $5.32 and it was REALLY worth it. They did a GREAT parody. I really enjoyed it. Obviously someone who watched the show closely wrote it, as he got some real funny nuances of the show, like Bill showing up seconds after Ralph flies to some location, and the insults between Bill and the Counselor ("Spam"). Highly recommended! Mona

Not me - not unless I won the lottery myself. (Seems too that I'm lucky at winning prizes - just so long as it's not money.) Plus, IMHO for collectors of rare items it's not a good buy because it's been out of the box. This means it's not in mint condition contrary to the comments made by the seller. In order to be considered such, it can't be opened up. Shame really, because they are rare and highly sought after. But, given that someone wants to spend nearly $1,600 for it, I say good luck to them and hope they enjoy it in their collection.

Well, who knows what I'd pay for a Maxwell doll, especially if it was a life-sized blow up....
Did everyone check out the enlarged shot of the box at the bottom? HD, you will NOT like the caricature of Pam. It's hilariously AWFUL.

You were right: I didn't like the caricature.

I think the best caricatures for "GAH" have been the ones inside Mad Magazine. I have one of the books that includes a spoof of "Route 66," and they did a great one of Martin Milner in there. Same with the one I've seen elsewhere for "The Love Boat." (Just wish one of the two anthologies I bought at the book sale had the "GAH" one in it though.) But, even I agree - the Pam and Ralph caricatures on that card are not great.

It doesn't look a THING like her! I can't imagine how they could have missed her facial structure and looks so completely. If there was an award for Worst Mega Caricature, this would have to win!

Personally, I think the one on the Mego card is a very bad portrayal - both her and Katt as Ralph in there. While I understand they wanted to exaggerate the characters, they did it too much to where two of the three do not resemble who they should. That said, the Mad Magazine one is a good - though not perfect portrayal: But, then again - like most comics, all three's faces are exaggerated slightly, which is shown in this post from Billswoman in the screencap challenge thread (note, click on the date for all the caps billswoman made ):

Much better than the fish lips they gave Pam on the Mega card.

Mona It's hard to capture the infinite beauty of Pam. ;D You should also see the action figure itself. Here are photos of the Pam prototype that, like the other figures, was never released. I leave it up to you guys to judge the resemblance. Here's a comparison shot between Pam and Mego's Daisy Duke (which doesn't look a thing like Catherine Bach, in my opinion!) And here's one for the Bill fans. Ohhhh, what could have been....

None of the original Megos looks like their counterparts. Admittedly they're prototypes, but way they have too high of a forehead on both Pam and Daisy Duke. Now, the limited edition reissued Ralph one looks very good and was quite detailed. They even made sure to give Ralph a slightly crooked smile as Katt's top set of teeth have a slant to them (higher one side than the other. If they'd only do that for Connie and Culp as Bill and Pam, then they'd really have collectors clamoring for them.

Horrible. The one on the Pam forum is actually the avatar for members who did not have their own avatar up.

Mego was pretty hit-and-miss when it came to their TV/movie properties. Kirk and Bones were the most recognizable from their Star Trek line. From CHiPs, Ponch and Sarge were far more accurate than Jon (although the Ponch head looked more like Erik Estrada playing someone's creepy uncle). The Waltons characters were very good, right down to John-Boy's mole. The Planet of the Apes were spot on (except their astronaut figure was generic, as they couldn't secure the rights to Heston's likeness) and there was no mistaking their Wizard of Oz lineup as being anything but the movie version. Famed Mego reproduction artist Paul "Dr. Mego" Clarke managed to secure a three-day license from Cannell to produce the new Ralph for the FX Convention, his first paid gig for doing something he was doing unofficially for years. He has now been contracted to reproduce the Star Trek line in exact detail, and will even be making new characters from Trek in addition to the original figures. They will soon be releasing repros of Planet of the Apes, and will even be making a brand-new Mego-style line of Night of the Living Dead figures. When I expressed my hope on a Mego Collector bulletin board that he will be able to release official GAH figures, he responded that he also hopes to be able to make those one day...so there may be a chance we will see a Bill and Pam that actually *look* like Culp and Sellecca. From the detail on the Ralph figure, I have no doubt any of us will be disappointed.
