Thanks HD... though Posting Suppository? (And - I can tell that I haven't been in this thread for a while - the last post I made here was my first three projects I've made in a kiln - and the blue pendant actually sold. )

I haven't been here in a while either, but it's only fair that your birthday wishes go in here from me. ;D

I have had an interesting week - but mostly good and fun. One was a really cool accomplishment which for some will go "OK... why was that a big deal?" and others were just odd.
Got almost all my fair projects done - I plan on making a chainmaille pendant next day or so (won't take as long as the entire chain did a couple of years ago - I only have to chain five inches), and then possibly a domino pendant with a fimo clay rose. It just needs to be smaller a bit flatter and two of them on the corners. I think it'll look really cool when completed.

Did pretty well at the fair this year - six firsts and three seconds in both jewelrymaking and photography. Was very surprised that my domino items - a card holder and pendant - won firsts given that last year's version with buttons ended up finishing second.
Have to say though I feel as though the fair is supposed to start tomorrow given how long last week was.

Man - I hate being sick. This is the first time in nearly a decade I've actually come down with a stomach bug, but fortunately it looks like it's going to get better by tomorrow. It's been crazy around here - I worked on and finished a 3-1/2 foot tall Easter Egg for an Art Walk we have here in downtown. It looks pretty good, but I can tell that there's a reason I usually stay focused on fused glass. Speaking of fused glass, I'm still busy with it and have had a few fun experiments. I've found out that I can stamp glass with leather tooling items as long as I do it quickly before the glass totally sets. It adds a nice twist and variety to just fused glass. And - for those who are "Doctor Who" fans - I have indeed made a TARDIS. It's not perfect, but it was fun to make. I think I'm going to turn it into a bookmark. That's my life - fun or boring or weird. Then again - it's all three.

Thank you HD, but it is a tad sad that in the past two years there have only been about 5 or 6 posts in this thread... with the top being birthday wishes from two years past. (What can I say I don't post here nearly as often as I used to. I went at least several weeks without posting and I think at least a month without really looking on the board. Not that I'm not a fan anymore, but I've been successful with my side job business and the like.)

There's nothing wrong with not posting a lot, Mel. Everybody needed the break.

HD I've needed a break from a lot of things for months... This was the least of them.

I didn't say you needed the break.

Haven't posted for months, and I'll admit I've maybe been here a couple of times in those months.
But I figured I'd let you know why.
Well first is work - it's keeping me pretty busy in the evening work at games and the like. Of course, I"m happy that the schools are doing well in sports, but it does add up.
Secondly, my Dad died a little over a month ago today. It was sudden and I'm still at times a bit in shock. This may not seem much for the "GAH" board, but the thing is Dad always loved telling the story about how we went to Target one time when I was 3 and I was just jabbering away in the back seat. Dad asked who I was talking to and I said "Ralph" who was my invisible friend.
Now, I still read the board and such and will comment at times, but if one wonders (or cares) why I'm not here as often as I used to be, this is why. Besides, I've got a lot of living and loving to do.

I'm sorry about your father, Mel. I have lost a lot of people over the years, but not a parent, so I can't even begin to imagine your pain. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. *Hug*

Awww, Mel, I am sorry to hear about your dad. That's just awful. I have lost both of my parents, and it's something that is really hard to deal with. I wish you great strength for this time of healing.

It's been OK - I've had my ups and downs. I think the problem for me now is that some things will just bring it to the forefront unexpectedly. Example, we had a fellow come in who wanted us to do a story about how his group - a bunch of retired military volunteers - help at a military funeral. He then mentioned photos and such, and I bolted from the newsroom. I don't think they'll have me go to this event when it happens sometime soon - just because of Dad, but still it was hard Then there are the funny and odd ones - example I had a dream Tuesday that I was in the dining room with Mom and Dad chatting. He looks at me and says "Your Mom would really love a Chick-O-Stick" and gave that knowing look he always did. I woke up and that nagged me so much I did in fact buy Mom a Chick-O-Stick. Work does help - I go to events I know Dad liked such as football games but sometimes it's hard.

Still come by here off and on, but work has been keeping me pretty busy. Been doing lot more traveling though. I still do my fused glass work but have expanded to leather tooling as well.
Oh and I've been trying to find hide and hair of the reboot the proposed two years ago, but I think it's effectively crashed into a billboard, train, the electric monster, chewed up by the Beast in the Black, been shot up but then scrambled in the Green Guy's stasis machine, then given the mind push to burn itself using the laser beam in "30 seconds over Tokyo" and then the remainders were used as confetti for Dak's most recent concert.
And yes - that is a Melmacism intentionally done to show how little confidence I have we'll see ANYTHING of that reboot, unless they decide to do a "GAHeroine" idea and box it up like they did some of SJC's pilots.

Nice to see that you're still kicking around, Mel Mac. I see most of us do drop in once in a while.

Actually I hadn't dropped in in about 4 years. Lol! Before I finally did at the end of last year. Since I hadn't been watching TGAH, my mind was on other things.
