I have noticed (and you have, too) that these polls only get responses from maybe 10 people max. If we are seriously gonna do this, we need everyone to participate. We're not giving out awards based on the votes of 10 people! After you vote, you can also leave some suggestions for awards that we can give out. If you vote for nothing else ever again, please vote now even to say it's a dumb idea, so we can give up early

As Ralph would say, "Aw, what the hell." I think it's a great idea myself, and I think there will be people who will vote in it. It would also give some teeth in how great this show is (especially with the snub the show got in the TVLand awards ). Now for ideas for awards, I like most of the ones mentioned already. Right now, my brain's a bit fried (came back from vacation and had to go to work same day), so I can't think of any new ones right now. (This isn't a dumb idea, IMO. I mean, given my odd poll question in the OT thread, there are sillier ideas. Though I am actually going to juggle the routine for a show ).

I voted yes (& not just because I could hear Balki from "Perfect Strangers" saying "Don't Be Ridiculous!" when reading that). And my offer of donning my costume to "present" awards still stands.

... Greatest Numbers of Posts in a Small Timeframe (a.k.a. the MelMac's B¡+¢# Award) ... Very funny (how about "Most willing to take a running joke?" Don't worry, still think it's funny.) I think HD will still own that title, at least for right now. My suggestions for the Jammies: Funniest Post Best Avatar Best Personal Text or Signature Line Greatest Numbers of Posts in a Small Timeframe (a.k.a. the MelMac's B¡+¢# Award) Biggest Maxwell Maniac Biggest Hinkley Homie Biggest Davidson Devotee I totally agree with these award ideas. I think they're some that everyone can have a chance to win an honor.

Yeah, I was wondering about the actual categories. Maybe the GAH masses could SUGGEST categories, but in the end the moderators make the decision, then tell us? I was wondering if fan fiction could be thrown in there somewhere As we know, there're several fan fiction categories, such as crossovers, humor, drama/angst, episode-related, things like that. Not to mention the more (ahem) "adult" ones. Oh wait, that'd just be me... for now at least, dunno what silverhammer has in mind, whoot!

The game thread we wrote had some pretty serious stuff as well. (Though sometimes I sent Ralph in the wrong direction.) My guess would be that the moderators would help winnow down some suggestions to those that everyone has a chance in (even post proficiency), then let us, the voters decide. (got tired of hearing that last part during the '04 elections (and every other subsequent one).

If we get enough response to this poll, we can have another vote just for categories. *Everyone* should post here with their suggestions as well. Since there are only a handful of fanfic writers here, I'm sure we can tailor an award that each of you can win! Maybe we can encourage more people to write their own GAH stories to widen the playing field for next year's Jammies. I think "Best Fan Fiction Author" would work this year, but who am I to judge?

Since these polls are anonymous, but you can still see who's winning, I think I'll make a special member just for messaging votes for the Jammies themselves. This poll, the category names poll, and the nominations poll will be open for viewing, but I think the actual voting should be a complete mystery, don't you?
Also, here's a suggested timeline:
November - this poll: anyone else interested? December - Nominations for Award Names January - Choosing Nominees for each Award February - THE VOTE
Saturday, March 18th, 2006 - T.G.A.H. 25th Anniv.Chat/Awards Presentation

What if the "moderators" were to e-mail some of the "inactive" members? Perhaps we could get alot of feedback...

How about: - "Most interesting poll" - "Best fanart" (bear in mind there could be an extension on this) - "Most interesting/funny screencap" - "Most interesting way to use quotes from the show in a post" - "Shortest/longest post" - "Best homemade version of the jammies" Can't think of many more (and I'm probably rehashing other ideas as well)

Sounds like a great timeline!
Too bad it's not co-ordinated with the big GAH room party I'm planning in January! Or perhaps I can put the information out there, and encourage people to join this board and vote.
Wow, 25th anniversary. I officially feel old (again); I was in college when GAH was out.

Now you know what you will need for the party: a nice long row of computers with the GAH.com site ready and waiting for new members... ;D Maybe we should schedule a chat for that evening, too. Kind of a test run for the official anniversary chat on 3/18...

Actually, that'd be a great idea. Maybe there are fans out there who don't know about the boards and this could get them interested. (Or, we'll have a few get interested in the show at the convention). Speaking of silver anniversaries (and I'm two years past silver myself), it's funny how I can remember more that have celebrated their silver, gold, ruby and even diamond (well, almost) anniversaries recently over current day shows.

Ah, another idea to bounce around. I think I'm going to have to actually start writing this stuff down, instead of trying to remember it all. Well, speaking of the room party, still got three slots in the hotel room for anyone coming to the con that weekend! I reserved a double (two double beds) and it's only me so far. Picture it: Seattle January 13-15, 2006 Be there or be quadrilateral! (Okay, I lie... outside the windows you'll see the North Satellite of Sea-Tac airport, you won't see Seattle at all unless you hop on the 194 bus and head to town....) I'm done, for now. Really, come to Seattle. Someone.

I'd get homesick for all the traffic, pollution, bad accents, and corrupt politicians here in New Jersey. Besides, I'd have to pummel the first person who gets on my back for not being a vegetarian...

Of course, if we don't get too many, we could put on a mini-awards & make everyone else salivate over the fact they missed out.

Besides, I'd have to pummel the first person who gets on my back for not being a vegetarian... Or, my case, I'd get homesick for the country, horses, where to find some small town and people telling me I don't sound like a Texan. Even sillier, (but true), I'd miss Dr Pepper at a restaurant. It seems that no one outside of Texas will serve it in restaurants. My family would get a funny look if we tried to order it in the New England area. Then again, I get funny looks when I forget and order a "soda water" (nickname for Cokes, etc.) at a restaurant. Also, how about maybe an award for member from farthest away? Who knows, there may be users outside the U.S. Kinda like what we used to do at the "TEXAS" musical drama. They gave out a chow call triangle to the person(s) who traveled the furthest distance to see the show. The only year they had any U.S. winners was its first year (1965), since then it's been someone out of the U.S. The closest I think it came to getting here was when there was a winner from Australia (and that was only because it was a heavy rain that night). Remember that one all too well, as I was soaking wet and still had to pretend everything was fine (got a few chuckles from patrons though). Also, thanks for the compliments on my suggestions, Lauren.

My family would get a funny look if we tried to order it in the New England area. Don't know about farther up the coast, but I would say half the restaurants and fast-food places in the Greater L.A. Area serve Dr. Pepper - I should know, I'm addicted to it. Fresca, on the other hand: hard to come by.
