I was wondering how many on here like to watch older and Classic TV shows?
My current haul this week from Netflix is:
The Fugitive Voyagers 1 Step Beyond Mission Impossible
Anyone else?

The only not-current show I am "Netflix-ing" is Remington Steele, does that count?

Yes it does. I'm also working my way through that one also.
And it doesn't have to be from Netflix, but those were my most recent 'oldies'.

First I'd have to know exactly what you mean by "older and classic"-----Do you mean shows from the 80's (or older) or from the 60's (or older)?

I've always considered before 1990 as old. I might be wrong, though. So say, anything before '90. I've watched stuff from the forties. Now that's old.

I remember watching The Fugitive back when it was on A&E along with other shows there.. Harry-O, Quincy.. I think Adam-12 was on A&E as well. Haven't seen Voyagers since it was on during it's run. As for The Fugitive on DVD, there's a big ordeal about the DVDs starting with the second half of Season 1 onto wherever they're at right now. They replaced the background music which was done by the show's composer Pete Rugolo. I forget the reason why, there's an article written about why it was done, but I know that fans of the show were very upset about that one. Even more than when it was reported the TGAH DVDs had replaced music..

Finally season 2 of Adam 12 has been released. Now if the A12 fans can keep up hope, the rest of the seasons might follow. I haven't heard about problems with "The Fugitive", I'll have to check it out. Oh, and let me add that they have TWICE lost their guidebook in The Voyagers! I'll have to put my list together. I don't like many shows made after '90. But I guess my '90 + shows are BTAS, Batman Beyond, Stargate SG1 & Atlantis.

Hmm, let's see, I like (in no particular order): - "The Greatest American Hero."
- "Adam-12"
- "Emergency!"
- "The Wild Wild West"
- "The Monkees"
- "Doctor Who" - the original stories started in the 1960s, and my favorite Doctors are Jon Pertwee ('70s) and Davison ('80s)
- "Barney Miller"
- "The Love Boat"
- "Shazaam!"
- "Land of the Lost."
- "Get Smart"
Actually, there's quite a few more ... so let's just say I"m more of a Classic TV watcher than present day.

Voyagers is on DVD!!! Ok I now have a new addition for my christmas wish list and netflix list. lol
One thing I love about netflix is the instant watch feature (watch on the web) which I take advantage of especially for the tv shows. Another advantage to this instant feature is a lot of the shows that you can watch are not even on DVD yet. ( I.E. Simon and Simon seasons 2-8 and emergency seasons 5-7 etc)
Anyway Some of my favorites Scarcrow and Mrs King Mash Starsky and Hutch GAH (of course) Emergency Voyagers Simon and Simon Magnum PI Murder She Wrote Quincy ME Macgyver Rockford Files Columbo Buck rogers Battlestar Galactica (original) chips little house on the prairie School House rock Abc Afternoon SChool Specials Mork and Mindy
and so much more
International Shows Holland Tv: Vrienden voor het leven (friend for life) kinda like "Mad about you"
Aussie tv: The Flying Doctors (maybe one of you who live down under can tell me if this is on dvd?)
BBC The Proffesionals Randall and Hopkirk Deceased! (original)

Mel, you actually watch "The Monkees" and "Land of the Lost"? Yahoo! I'm not the only one. :-) I need to get started on my list. Yep, "The Monkees" is one of those shows that I remember watching in syndication growing up. "The Wild, Wild West" and an episode of "Doctor Who" - a Tom Baker story I actually now LOATHE - are the other two. Lauren is also a fan of "The Monkees," and even did a cute crossover with "GAH" - "Digging up the past" : www.jadewarlock.proboards50.com/index.cgi?board=gah&action=display&thread=23******************* But, yes, I'm a fan of the older shows and such. I think they're a lot more creative than what we're seeing today - in most mediums. (But, let me put it to you this way, I actually saw "Bloodrayne" and "Bloodrayne II" the other night and thought the latter - which was panned - was the better of the two because they did a twist on it and set it in a Wild West setting.) Speaking of "The Land of the Lost," I also recently saw "Electra Woman and Dyna Girl," another one of Sid and Marty Krofft productions. It's not too bad, but definitely interesting to watch.

Ah, forgot about "Remington Steele" and "Quincy." I still think Pierce Brosnan still is one of the best sexy spy/detectives of all time (both as Steele and Bond), and he showed his skills then when Moore was in the Bond role. And "Quincy," I still get a chuckle out of its opening credits. The whole Forensic opening with the "sturdy" police officers either fainting or running out because they're ill is quite funny. I also like how he's supposedly studying a cadaver, but you get a surprise at the end. "Perry Mason" - I enjoy both the original series and the TV movies - preferably the ones with Katt as Drake, but I also like some of the ones with William Moses. I don't, however, like the ones they did after Burr had passed away. That was wrong IMHO. Just a lot of classic TV shows to see - some of these current series could look to those classics to see how you could have similar themes (i.e. westerns) and still get variations on the genre that are fresh and unique (Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, Alias Smith and Jones, Here Come the Brides, etc.)

Mel Mac: A Little bit of info for you that you might find interesting. Raymond Burr (who played Perry Mason, and of course the villain in Hitchcock's Rear Window) is buried about 1 mile from where I live. I visited his tomb this Summer. He's buried next to his parents and his sister. Just a little tidbit of info.

You're definitely getting into some of the rarer shows out there GAHfan. What's interesting as far as some of these is that they originally were radio shows, such as Burns and Allen. Another one that went from radio to TV (even for a short time) was Amos and Andy. Some people don't like Amos and Andy because they see it as racist (the show was original performed by two white men), but it also showed both characters in successful jobs in that time.

And what's sad is that isn't all. ;-) I need to check what's in the cabinet. Dare I even admit that I've listened to all of those radio shows? That I grew UP listening to those radio shows? I'm a very unusual 21 year old. hehe

No, nothing wrong with listening to audios/radio shows - I have I think five of the "Doctor Who" audios they've created that feature the last four Doctors of the original series as well as several aired stories that are just audio now (because the tapes were wiped per BBC policy back in the late '60s and early '70s). These audios feature Peter Davison, Colin Baker (even better now than in the series IMHO), Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann (only in the TV movie - and I was disappointed when they didn't choose him when they restarted in 2005 ). Out of the ones I have, my favorites are "Eye of the Scorpion," "The Harvest," and "The One Doctor" (the last one a Christmas parody that was quite funny.) Sadly, I haven't been able to get any of the classic American shows such as the ones I listed earlier. I'd like to hear "Amos and Andy" again.
